Brexit postponed

AIBU to worry that the (almost certain) delay in Brexit will give rise to civil unrest?

OP posts:
Pumperthepumper · 21/10/2019 14:04

Leavers should be protesting because, regardless of the outcome, deal or no deal, they won’t get what they were promised in 2016.

They should be fucking raging that they were sold a lie and believed it.

mummmy2017 · 21/10/2019 14:09

Exercising my vote to vote.
Means I can vote to leave.
Your trying to tell me I voted the wrong way.
That I am so miss guided and need repent my vote, just how condescending can you be.

Roussette · 21/10/2019 14:15

Call it condescending if you will. I've read many a tweet from people who have changed their minds, wished they hadn't voted leave. I wondered if you were thinking the same or doggedly still wanting to leave even though you can't name one benefit.

FadingStar · 21/10/2019 14:18

I can't believe that in three years some people still haven't moved on from angry insults. Confused

Alsohuman · 21/10/2019 14:24

You’re entirely missing the point @Oliversmumsarmy.

Mummy said Boris was voted in to get us out.
Voted in by his party who won an Election

She was wrong. The Tories didn’t win the 2017 election.

SafetyAdvice0FeedWhenAgitated · 21/10/2019 14:25

Well this thread is something. Good luck you all...

mummmy2017 · 21/10/2019 14:27

Roussette I want to go.
I think it is great that Boris is trying to make it so.
I think once we finally leave there will be a bounce back, that as we are worth so much in purchasing power, the worse case will not happen. Much as happened when we voted.
I think many remainers believe everything bad they hear because it justified their fears.
They blame leavers because they can't blame themselves for lack of effort when it mattered most.

Alsohuman · 21/10/2019 14:29

that as we are worth so much in purchasing power, the worse case will not happen.

We’re a poxy little island in the North Sea. Brexit will leave us struggling to purchase a tin of beans. Ludicrous.

darkcloudsandrainstorms · 21/10/2019 14:29

When the referendum was initiated it never occurred to the ruling elite that they would ever lose.

1/3 voted to leave
1/3 voted to stay
1/3 didn’t bother

Don’t bother got it right.

theunknownknown · 21/10/2019 14:32

Lack of effort?
Seriously?
Please come back and update in two or three years time won’t you.
You blame our lack of effort rather than take responsibility for your own ignorance.
Astounding.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 21/10/2019 14:37

Long time lurked on Brexit threads.

I'd like to thank all those who have made informed posts. I've learned a lot here and on Westminstenders.

As for Mummmy, I'm speechless.

theunknownknown · 21/10/2019 14:39

darkclouds. Except the ruling elite did win.

timshelthechoice · 21/10/2019 14:41

that as we are worth so much in purchasing power, the worse case will not happen.

What purchasing power? You still haven't named me one thing, just one, that the UK has that any other country absolutely needs (or even kind of wants) that they (those other countries) cannot get elsewhere and probably for cheaper (hint: there isn't one). Our currency value dropped and never regained the value it had before the referendum, that means our 'purchasing power', ability to borrow and ability to pay back debts has decreased.

How do you think we are supplied? We are not self-sufficient and haven't been since tribal people in seal skin boats realised they could get other places and trade for goods.

Countries are not coming forward to offer us favourable trading deals, at best one or two are offering shitty terms that benefit them, duh.

mummmy2017 · 21/10/2019 14:42

No, I give thanks you were so complacent in your expectations of a win, you failed through lack effort.

Roussette · 21/10/2019 14:43

I think many remainers believe everything bad they hear because it justified their fears. They blame leavers because they can't blame themselves for lack of effort when it mattered most

What lack of effort? I could not have been more engaged since before the Vote and after. Not sure what you mean. I've done polls, petitions, written to MPs, I tweeted every single Labour MP on Saturday morning who had hinted that they would vote for this hard Deal of Boris's. I wrote to my MP more than once (he is totally ineffectual and rarely replies but that didn't stop me writing. He is not on social media so that was the only way). I marched against Trump, (he's tied up in this) I donated to a fund for the VoteLeaversMarch.

I am not the only one like this, there are millions of us, so please do not blame Remainers for lack of effort.

p.s. if you are relying on Boris to do something good, you are going to get a rude awakening.

Roussette · 21/10/2019 14:45

No, I give thanks you were so complacent in your expectations of a win, you failed through lack effort

You are being deliberately goady now. You deserve everything coming your way.
I've tried my best to remain patient but I can't argue with stupid.

theunknownknown · 21/10/2019 14:48

See what I said earlier Rousette. Stupid beats you with experience Grin

mummmy2017 · 21/10/2019 14:49

Then all we do is wait and see.
Just like I said the unknown.

timshelthechoice · 21/10/2019 14:52

LOL @ the idea of Alexander Boris dePfeffel Johnson being about anyone but his own purse and those of his cronies, those are the only ends he serves (and end of his pecker, apparently, he can't seem to keep it in his pants). This is a man who cheated on his own wife and kids, is a known liar. He's a trustworthy as a rattlesnake on meth amphetamine.

You are being deliberately goady now. You deserve everything coming your way.

Trouble is, millions of others who don't deserve it or can't to have to suffer it, too.

Roussette · 21/10/2019 14:54

unknown my patience has been tried to its limits!

I used to say 'wait and see' to my kids when they were little. It was usually when a treat was coming their way and they would be beyond excited.

Sorry you're not going to get your 'treat' Mummy, it'll be a hammering I'm afraid. Oh well, no sympathy here. You're not prepared to listen to any points, you don't read anything, you pick and choose what you want to answer and say the same thing again and again. Good luck with your optimisim. It'll all come crashing down in time.

Roussette · 21/10/2019 14:56

Trouble is, millions of others who don't deserve it or can't to have to suffer it, too

Yes and some of them will be Remainers who are scared witless as to what's going to happen.

mummmy2017 · 21/10/2019 14:56

You do know half of Parliament disagree with you.

Alsohuman · 21/10/2019 14:57

No, I give thanks you were so complacent in your expectations of a win, you failed through lack of effort

Wtaf? What effort did you put in - apart from putting an X in the box?

Figmentofmyimagination · 21/10/2019 15:02

I suspect mummy2017 is a paid troll. She certainly writes like one!

Roussette · 21/10/2019 15:07

I'm inclined to agree. I'm outta here.

I'd like to say good luck Mummy but I can't bring myself to.
