Brexit postponed

AIBU to worry that the (almost certain) delay in Brexit will give rise to civil unrest?

OP posts:
mummmy2017 · 21/10/2019 17:39

But I am not the only person who feels like this in the UK.
Just the only voice in your echo chamber.

Bigeater · 21/10/2019 17:46

You can't reason with stupid - I defended you yesterday mummy but even I'm struggling now

mummmy2017 · 21/10/2019 17:54

Why do I need defending?
Brexit will happen, only an idiot thinks otherwise.

Parker231 · 21/10/2019 17:59

I know Brexit is probably going to happen but let’s be realistic about the impact and negative changes to our lives.

Mamamia456 · 21/10/2019 19:05

I can't believe some of the rude and patronising comments on this thread.

I think I understand where mummy is coming from. The working class people in this country haven't felt listened to for years and when that happens people vote for change.

Monestasi · 21/10/2019 19:15

Mummy is still a stranger to the good old British apostrophe in "you're"

This alone must be enough to stop engaging with this idiot.

I am sure it has filled it's boots on the attention.

FWIW I am well off and have residency in another EU country, but I am desperately worried about what Brexit will do to my country of birth, and (at at this point) those who DID NOT vote for this.

I despise anyone who would still vote Brexit.

Monestasi · 21/10/2019 19:17

I think I understand where mummy is coming from. The working class people in this country haven't felt listened to for years and when that happens people vote for change.

And why is this the fault of the EU?

Parker231 · 21/10/2019 19:20

On sky news they’ve reported that although the EU are very unhappy with the UK, it is anticipated that the extension will be granted.

bellinisurge · 21/10/2019 19:22

I don't need fucking Brexit to understand people have been left behind. I lived through Thatcherism.

Tellmetruth4 · 21/10/2019 19:23

Absolute rubbish about the working class not being listened to for years. Outside of central London from the outer boroughs like Chingford (Ian Duncan Smiths ward) to Essex, Kent, Hertfordshire, rural poor areas etc, the working class almost always vote Tory and have done since Thatcher. They keep voting for more cuts, austerity etc because they believe what the right wing press tell them and will continually vote against their own interest in the mistaken belief that policies sold as getting one over on immigrants and benefit scroungers doesn’t affect them.

They will see their hospital waiting lists get longer, pot holes get bigger and fewer police on the streets and will still vote Tory. The right wing press and Tory party seem to only focus on feeding the resentment of the working class. It’s the younger 25-45 middle class who are forgotten. Highly taxed at one end, not qualifying for any assistance such as tax credits at the other end, massive mortgages which the government doesn’t listen to. I’ve yet to see one BBC vox pop feature someone in that category. It’s always ‘salt of the earth’ Stoke man who’s point of views are broadcast.

bellinisurge · 21/10/2019 19:30

Don't recall any of you getting tizzed up about extensive prorogation - another piece of arcane Parliamentary bollocks. Is it only when arcane Parliamentary bollocks doesn't give you the outcome you want?

KanelbulleKing · 21/10/2019 19:39

I can't wait for brexit. I keep getting urgent emails about my delivery when I haven't ordered anything. I'm pretty sure they're about my unicorn. I'm well excited.

Alsohuman · 21/10/2019 20:18

Oh dear God, is this what we’re reduced to?

madeyemoodysmum · 21/10/2019 21:03

Mummy Grin

DarkAtEndOfUk · 22/10/2019 09:59

I'm still just in that age bracket, and yes our generations have been absolutely shafted. They've never given a damn about the effects of he changing society on us. mummmy if you are thinking that you'll drag the 'richer' middle class people down to your level and suddenly there'll be a lot of vocalising for change that simply must be listened to, you are sadly mistaken. People born well-off, with family money and support to fall back on will look after themselves as they always have. Those of us who have none and have merely worked our way up and always supported ourselves have got nothing left to give you, and are getting tired of the expectations that we always will.

mummmy2017 · 22/10/2019 10:10

I love how none of you know me, yet tell what I think.
What a load of tosh, about trying to drag the rich down.

SesameOil · 22/10/2019 10:44

Yes, if Brexit does happen and it turns the UK into a nasty place to live, I'm just not staying. DH and I, both of us born to working class parents, will utilise dual citizenship rights and move. Taking our niche skills with us. It's a shame though, the northern city we live in was Remain. The poor where we are weren't daft enough to vote for Christmas whilst conspicuously being turkeys.

Clavinova · 22/10/2019 11:15

Monestasi was so quick to make fun of mummy's grammatical error yesterday that she overlooked her own rogue apostrophe in the next line of her post!

"This alone must be enough to stop engaging with this idiot."
"I am sure it has filled it's boots on the attention."

Proof that we all make mistakes with apostrophes. Grin

DarkAtEndOfUk · 22/10/2019 11:25

I love how none of you know me, yet tell what I think.

Grin but you won't tell us what you think - think means reason - yourself! Anyway I'm out of this game.

Alsohuman · 22/10/2019 13:36

I have no idea what you think @mummmy17. All you do is repeat meaningless platitudes. You haven’t presented a single cogent argument. Not one.

mummmy2017 · 22/10/2019 14:10

For you this was all financial.
For me I wanted to leave.
How blooming hard is that to understand.
Once and only once there was a way out of the EU.

Alsohuman · 22/10/2019 14:24

It’s incredibly hard to understand when you refuse to say why you want to leave.

BertrandRussell · 22/10/2019 14:30

I really do want to know why people wanted to leave.
