‘Inspirational’ quotes that you actually quite like?

I’m sure there was a thread about this not too long ago but I can’t find it.

A lot of the ‘inspirational’ quotes I see I think are fairly awful, but I came across this one the other day that I did like:

‘Be the star of your own story.’

So, AIBU to say there are some quite nice inspirational quotes or are they all a load of rubbish?!

You don't stop laughing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop laughing.

People can only make you feel inferior with your consent.

Shit happens.

Another one of my favourites is actually a line from the musical 'Hamilton' by Lin-Manuel Miranda-

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies. I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size. But when I start to tell them, they think I’m telling lies. I say, it’s in the reach of my arms the span of my hips, the stride of my step, the curl of my lips. I’m a woman. Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, that’s me.

This is a bit cheesy but keeps me going at work.

A lot that I really like -

Believe that you are more than you think you are

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent

Take the first step in faith. You don't need to see the whole staircase, just the first step

Everything you've ever wanted from life, is on the other side of feaf

Unfortunately, the elevator to success is broken. You're going to have to take the stairs

Your past happened. You can't change that. What you can change, is how it affects your present

Madein1995 · 19/10/2019 22:52

Life happens. Bad things happen. If nothing hard ever happened, we would never grow or learn our true strength. Surviving hard times teach valuable lessons that butterflies and rainbows never will.

You are enough

Some of these are so lovely. A couple that fit my life right now:

You can do anything, but you can’t do everything.

Not my circus, not my monkeys

It will be alright in the end. If it's not alright yet, it's not the end yet

Spent much of this year battling a very very old eating disorder that reared its ugly head after a lot of stress. Shocked me as gone my whole adult life having forgotten how bad it can get. I was never into "quotes" but some of these have really helped me when I've been alone in the evenings.

I am a senior nurse and I like using the phrase "the standard you walk past is the standard you accept"

In other words, don't ignore shit care.

FreddieRocks- those are both great ones!

Yes, I like ‘all that glitters is not gold’ too. Very true!

Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.

Also; Comparison is the thief of joy

I live in a very keeping up with the Jones' kind of place so these two get repeated a lot by me.

I also like the one about grief being the price we pay for love. I've never lost anyone very close and I'm terrified of it happening. Of course one day it will, and I'll say this to myself many times I'm sure.

That’s a good one Smile

“Some failure in life is inevitable. It is impossible to live without failing at something unless you lived so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all, in which case you fail by default”

if you trust in yourself. . .and believe in your dreams. . .and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy. Terry Pratchett quote, a very wise man.
