To find baby animals cuter than actual babies?

I mean, give me a cute puppy or kitten any day. Whenever anyone shows me photos of their babies/toddlers I secretly think to myself ‘my cat is so much cuter’. Anyone else feel the same?! This is a light-hearted thread by the way, no offence to anyone with young children!

Of course animals are cuter.

By 6-10 months babies are cute, that’s more equivalent to a newborn puppy in development terms. Newborns look a bit wizened.

I personally find newborns much cuter than older babies. The cuteness really wears off for me by the time they get to 4 months or so.

OP YANBU. Babies are cute but baby animals are far more adorable.

Currently pregnant (massive shock) and keep telling DH I wish it were a kitten instead of a baby.

@PralineCookie I agree, I think small newborns are much cuter than older babies.

Also I don’t really find babies that cute. I did find DD cute when she was born - you can’t fight biology - but now I look back at photos I think “wow, that was NOT a cute baby!”

I'm so relieved to read this - I'm TTC and have a secret fear that finding my cat cuter than any baby I've seen means I'll be a terrible mother. Apparently it normal though - woohoo

At what point do we stop finding animals cute to thinking "mmmm I'd like that in a sandwich" (veal,lamb,chicks etc)

I've got kids and obviously thought they were the cutest babies ever. Other people's are boring though.

If someone has a baby, meh, if they get a puppy or kitten I am right there knocking on the door wanting to meet it ASAP

I go all soppy over animals who give birth to animal which look almost exactly the same as parents except for size. Such as:

elephants
rhinocerous
hippopotamus
giraffe

They're gorgeous!

Baby tapirs are lovely too but when they are infants they have a striped coat, like a humbug, not a plain one like parents.

I have little interest in human babies and even less interest in children. Baby animals, however, are the best thing ever.

Recently a colleague brought her baby in and I hid in my office in case she wanted me to hold him. A different colleague brought her puppy in and I crawled under her desk and was rolling around on the floor with the puppy on my face

Definitely baby animals. I'm all over that!! I find human toddlers cuter than babies. It's something about how they move around I think. I could watch a toddler pootling about in the world all day. Babies don't do much for me, except when I'm invested in them eg I find my cousin's and my best friends' babies adorable beyond belief. Random baby in the street? Not so much.

I think most people would agree their own baby/toddler or one they are invested in is the cutest ever. However a random baby is no way cuter then a puppy or kitten.

Much rather cuddle a friend's kitten than her newborn. My own newborns were a different matter though.

Nothing is cute when it is a brand newborn. Human babies get cute after 3 months imo.

Babies are not very cute, and they are boring.

Kittens, puppies, baby goats, baby alpacas, baby hedgehogs, baby hippos, baby elephants are all way cuter.

Totally agree. Most babies are pretty ugly.

That’s why I have more dogs than children (even though I have a large brood of children).

I've got a long haired German shepherd puppy and she's cuter than any of my kids were as babies.

Babies look like angry potatoes.

I find human babies very creepy looking and they smell unpleasant. When I was a child I was told I'd change my mind when I grew up, but I'm now 23 and still recoil at the sight of a small child. I've never seen animal that I didn't instantly adore however.

Yanbu. My dc aside of course.

Mine are teens now, and when I see other people's newborns/ young dc I think they're cute. But have never remotely thought how nice it would be to have another. When I see baby animals I want to take them home, or at least cuddle them, and immediately start thinking about the practicalities of getting another one.

I wonder if animals find human babies cuter than their own species
