To find baby animals cuter than actual babies?

I mean, give me a cute puppy or kitten any day. Whenever anyone shows me photos of their babies/toddlers I secretly think to myself ‘my cat is so much cuter’. Anyone else feel the same?! This is a light-hearted thread by the way, no offence to anyone with young children!

Agree totally. But toddlers are cute - it just comes later in humans. What can the evolutionary explanation be? Also for our finding baby animals super cute (even spiders!)

Pregnancy rewires your brain to find babies cute.

No rewiring done to my brain. Baby animals are always cute. A very, very small number of babies (I.e. My 3) are cute.

Human babies are born considerably less mature than other animals due to our smaller pelvis, which is due to us walking upright, and their larger heads. Maybe baby animals are the equivalent of toddler humans in terms of maturity. Still think puppies are cuter though.

Agree totally. Baby animals are cute, baby humans are not. Have yet to see a human baby that wasn’t ugly.

@AthollPlace well it's definitely true for me. Never could stand babies or children, wasn't interested in them, found babies ugly etc etc and always adored baby animals.

Fast forward to having my own children and now I love seeing babies and toddlers and think most of them are cute!

My babies were very cute but i.wasent a big fan of other people babies ,my dog is very cute ,but i would die for my kids ,not so much for my dog ( although I do.love her)

I have never been a baby person. People bring theirs into work and I'm pretty much the only person who walks the other way.

Baby animals on the other hand? Gimme, gimme, gimme! Have to snuggle.

YANBU. I’ve never really melted over babies. I only find them appealing once they get to around 2.
Baby animals though are beyond delicious.
I second pp who said about baby elephants being the cutest. I love their little smiles.
Also have a huge soft spot for kittens.
Their ickile tails are so adorable the way they stick up when they walk
Although there’s nothing quite as cute as my baby 🕷 of course WinkGrin

I’ve banged out a fair few babies and whilst I found them to be like pure spun heaven and cuter than anything imaginable, in general I find most baby animals far more adorable than human babies. Apart from kittens, I hate cats.

Humans have got to be the ugliest baby mammals going. Newborns with their weird alien stick legs make me want to look away. There’s no fur and the smell of them makes me want to gag. When someone brings a baby into work I have to imagine it’s a kitten in a basket to fix a smile

Although I did meet a Newfoundland in a vaporetto stop in Venice who put his head on my knee and drooled all over my new mint green shorts.

I do think babies are cuter when they're a bit bigger and can smile. That very serious look they have when tiny always worries me a bit!

Babies and toddlers are pretty cute but I’m not very good with them and they grow up to be teenagers.

Oh yes, animals are far cuter. I've produced three baby humans and none of them were spectacularly appealing. I adored them of course but even as their devoted parent I could see other babies were objectively cuter and fluffy puppies a thousand times more so! One looked like Gollum until about three months old, all bald and wizened with enormous worried eyes. Never understood the newborn smell thing either. I think I'm without whatever pheromone receptors I need to 'get' newborns (
