To find baby animals cuter than actual babies?

I mean, give me a cute puppy or kitten any day. Whenever anyone shows me photos of their babies/toddlers I secretly think to myself ‘my cat is so much cuter’. Anyone else feel the same?! This is a light-hearted thread by the way, no offence to anyone with young children!

Excuse me, but my baby is the cutest and most adorable creature in the universe. 😉 The only thing that comes close is a baby gorilla because they almost look human.

I think my own babies are the most adorable things on planet earth, but show me someone else’s and I’m secretly like 🤷‍♀️ But literally ANY baby animal has me squealing with delight and practically sobbing at the cuteness. So I agree with you!

Yabu. I don't find animals cute at all. I'm sure I read that means I could possibly be a serial killer.

But babies, I love babies. Any baby - there's no such thing as an ugly one imo. My kids are grown up now, I like to look at babies, not look after them, though.

It’s just so true, isn’t it! And yes, my own babies were adorable (and still are, at the ages of 28 and 30), but not quite in the same league as kittens.

I don't agree that all babies are beautiful. They are little people, and like people some are beautiful and some aren't. Although a baby's smile is beautiful.

But why are baby animals so goddamn cute in the first place? Why does the brain do that?

I think it’s because babies come out at a very undeveloped stage compared with animals. By 6-10 months babies are cute, that’s more equivalent to a newborn puppy in development terms. Newborns look a bit wizened.

It doesn't stop us (as a species) eating them though, or killing them (to have their milk/eggs etc) as part of the food chain.

So there's a cut off point, which I'd hope isn't there toeards human babies.

As much as i love baby animals, that advwrt which showed just babies was adorable and always made me smile.

Agreed. My own DS was naturally the most adorable baby ever (actually, he was bald and very Churchill-esque, looking back at photos!) but all other babies are a bit meh. Puppies on the other hand are universally wonderful!
