mine is really boring. I'll find a picture

This is mine. It's a bit boring... And rarely used.

We use butter already (Aldi's norpak - it's lovely) but we buy the tubs. I'm going to add a butter dish to my Christmas wish list.

Only problem will be choosing one...

I'm now watching various butter dishes on eBay. As is everyone else on this thread judging by the number of watchers on each listing.

Every time I see a product obsession on MN I imagine 100k women suddenly rushing to buy the thing, and marketing execs all over the land scratching their heads trying to figure out the sudden spike in demand

Or the cynical me thinking they start those obsessions

Is this how trends start? Soon everyone will be watching butter dishes trend and wanting one - even if they have no interest in the political issue concerning the spreads that identify as butter.

Maybe? This thread has given me an entirely new appreciation for butter dishes. And I don't even eat a lot of butter... And we already have a butter dish.

I wish I hadnt looked at Etsy, so many beautiful ones, I'd never even thought about one before

I've just enjoyed freshly baked poppy seed bloomer toast with kerrygold butter and a cup of tea. I might have to go and make some more. Comfort and joy on a rainy Wednesday.

I have two alternating butter dishes: one in the wash, one in use.

The Orla Kiely one looks fab but the lid is quite loose so tricky to pick up with one hand.

The Yoyo one I have in the green (seen) and an orange version whose lid broke. The green one has a chip on the 'tab' part of the lid but I love how it resembles a Tupperware box.

Thanks to this thread I am about to order the Alessi 'ship shape' butter dish. like most of you, I keep butter out of the fridge and think of butter dishes as things of beauty. Is it just me or does everything taste better when it has come out of or is eaten off/drunk from something that you love?

Makes a nice change from bridezillas, parking or whatever. Even the best parking diagram is nothing like as lovely as some of these butter dishes.

It's better having over 400 comments about real butter dishes as opposed to fictional rubbish that usual takes up space.

That's going to be me at this rate. I can't stop looking at butter dishes and salivating.

The video is wonderful. Who knew there was so much to take into consideration when choosing a butter dish?

@twosoups1972 despite buying it slightly grudgingly (it was one of the very first things I bought when I left home & I sooooo wanted blue) the black one has grown on me. It can look a bit like a harbinger of doom though, although I think it could work in your black kitchen! Everyone seems to have teal blue. I'm 💛💛💛 for the yellow one now!!
