No more Flora for me, they’ve just announced they’re having nothing to do with the hate site mumsnet. mobile.twitter.com/StopFundingHate/status/1182647264046669824

Their new "Stonewall rated" Flora will be flying off the shelves I'm sure.

PickAChew · 11/10/2019 19:00

I prefer real butter to their rancid grease, anyhow.

Sexnotgender · 11/10/2019 19:01

Another who would boycott but I don’t buy their rancid shite anyway.

Shoxfordian · 11/10/2019 19:06

Transphobic posts are deleted by Mumsnet so I can't provide examples of posts that don't exist

Look at the recent trans at work thread on aibu and you'll see some deleted posts

Baguetteaboutit · 11/10/2019 19:12

So MNHQ deletes any posts which are transphobic? That's good.

That would mean the the site is definitely not transphobic, right?

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 11/10/2019 19:14

The comments on their Facebook site refer to TERFs. I think that's hate speech in itself yet those comments won't be deleted. Upfield are just virtue signalling, but it's very damaging

Confused I've just had a look on their FB page, there's no post at all about the dropping of the association, never mind any comments as well?
Are you sure you're looking at the official page, do you have a link?

ErrolTheDragon · 11/10/2019 19:16

Transphobic posts are deleted by Mumsnet so I can't provide examples of posts that don't exist

So isn't this exactly the sort of site which should be supported by an organisation interested in diversity - a site where there's relatively free speech, in particular from women (underrepresented on many other platforms) but where transphobic posts are not allowed?

whiteroseredrose · 11/10/2019 19:17

Naturli is MUCH nicer

Juells · 11/10/2019 19:20

I can't find that post on their twitter feed either, I wonder if it was real?

Hoppinggreen · 11/10/2019 19:21

I hate their shit excuse for butter if that counts

Somerville · 11/10/2019 19:27

Upfield’s tweet is on their TL. mobile.twitter.com/upfieldglobal/status/1182644210803101698

BarbaraStrozzi · 11/10/2019 19:27

Bit of a Ratners moment, I think.

Is their social media presence being run by a 20 year old intern on a break reading week from Goldsmiths? Because it doesn't seem terribly professional.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 11/10/2019 19:27

I can't find that post on their twitter feed either, I wonder if it was real?

I can see that post (it won't come up on their main feed though as it's a reply to someone else so maybe that's why you didn't see it?
So that one's there.
Nothing to be found about T**fs etc being said on FB though as far as I can see Confused

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 11/10/2019 19:28

That's the one @Somerville

thefattestchip · 11/10/2019 19:33

Any one else think that it's a little bit strange how quickly they responded to the original complaint on twitter. The complaint was raised and the Mumsnet partnership ceased all in the space of one day.

thefattestchip · 11/10/2019 19:35

Grin at Ratners moment!
I can't believe it's not Ratners.

Level75 · 11/10/2019 19:36

I'm with those who finds the tone on mumsnet transphobic. It seems like a bit of an obsession - there are so many threads and they are 90% negative about trans people/rights. I'm hoping that this isn't reflective of the whole population on mumsnet and that there are others like me who are too scared by the negativity and strength of opinion to contribute.

And before I'm asked, no I can't provide specific examples of transphobic posts as I don't keep a record!

Aberhonddu · 11/10/2019 19:37

Nobody can ever prove that parts of Mumsnet are transphobic because all the transphobic posts have been deleted.
So if the hate filled posts have been deleted it's not a transphobic forum. If they're here then it is.
It's either one or the other.
Can't possibly be both.
It's not transphobic to say that human beings cannot change Sex, it's not transphobic to say that males should not compete in female sports.
It's also not transphobic to say that women and girls need private spaces.
I could go on but I'll finish by saying that Flora is not real butter, not ever, not in its wildest dreams will it ever be butter.

SesameOil · 11/10/2019 19:39

And before I'm asked, no I can't provide specific examples of transphobic posts as I don't keep a record!

Convenient.

misscockerspaniel · 11/10/2019 19:40

Stork is also made by this firm. I picked up a pack in the supermarket a week or so ago, looked at the ingredients and put it straight back down.

Juells · 11/10/2019 19:42

Agree about the Ratner's moment. Maybe, like Ratner, they thought they could virtue signal and no-one but mimmymum would see it, they'd get all the woke cookies for free.

Amazing how many men-masquerading-under-girly-names have flooded into the MN threads about this. Grin

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 11/10/2019 19:44

I'm hoping that this isn't reflective of the whole population on mumsnet and that there are others like me who are too scared by the negativity and strength of opinion to contribute

It's not reflective, which you see more when the discussion comes through occasionally onto AIBU, even though if you just frequented the FWR board it'd seem like it was reflective of all. It's really not.

and that there are others like me who are too scared by the negativity and strength of opinion to contribute
There are - it's not just you

Juells · 11/10/2019 19:46

Nobody can ever prove that parts of Mumsnet are transphobic because all the transphobic posts have been deleted.

Not even transphobic! If a poster happened to mention that they thought JY might possibly perhaps be a man, the post gets deleted. That's not transphobia (made up word anyway). I don't have a phobia about trans people, I just think that trans men should use the women's loos, and trans women use the men's.

theunknownknown · 11/10/2019 19:46

I could go on but I'll finish by saying that Flora is not real butter, not ever, not in its wildest dreams will it ever be butter

maybe it identifies as butter?! GrinGrinGrin
Shite that it is - if I bought it, I'd boycott.

flowerycurtain · 11/10/2019 19:47

Well that's me not touching the stuff again.
