No more Flora for me, they’ve just announced they’re having nothing to do with the hate site mumsnet. mobile.twitter.com/StopFundingHate/status/1182647264046669824

Flora? I mean, really? That's the best that Mimmymum can do?
😂😂😂😂
Oh she is really scraping the barrel. How does she leave the house - I'd be turning myself inside out with cringe!

Timeywimey10 · 11/10/2019 18:01

The comments on their Facebook site refer to TERFs. I think that's hate speech in itself yet those comments won't be deleted. Upfield are just virtue signalling, but it's very damaging.

I have serious concerns about saying that gender dysmorphia is only a mental health issue - because that's what people said about gay people.

But I feel very strongly that biological males do not belong in spaces for biological females, female sport, and they should not count towards quotas for female board directorships.

LifeonVenus · 11/10/2019 18:07

I'm surprised it took this long.

Shoxfordian · 11/10/2019 18:20

Considering the frequent transphobic comments and threads, I'm not surprised

ScrumpyBetty · 11/10/2019 18:20

Bye bye Flora

MrsJamin · 11/10/2019 18:21

@Shoxfordian please provide evidence of 'transphobic posts' that have remained. Otherwise it didn't happen.

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 11/10/2019 18:23

Oh they can get fucked.

NearlyGranny · 11/10/2019 18:24

I thought the whole idea was that the platform is not a publisher and is not responsible for the views posted?

My money is on MN moderation being tighter, swifter and more effective than Twitter's or FB's.

Baguetteaboutit · 11/10/2019 18:25

I'm also really interested to see the evidence of transphobia. Take your time, I'll wait.

justbeingelle · 11/10/2019 18:27

I'm really not surprised, there are some very vocal transphobic users on here. The mods don't act when posts are reported.

CactusAndCacti · 11/10/2019 18:31

There is a much stronger anti-religion element to MN then there is transphobia. So if one is going to call out MN as a hate site let's actually point out the right area of hate.

SafetyAdvice0FeedWhenAgitated · 11/10/2019 18:31

Well Flora can go and cheer to how cool their are with glasses of the palm oil they are using🤷
Killing off ecosystem for the said oil vs saying women need to be safe... Pretty easy to see who is the baddie....

BelleSausage · 11/10/2019 18:32

Ah, the tolerant voice of liberal Britain (not).

Do these people not hear themselves: believe what I say, give up your rights or I’ll call you a bigot and get you cancelled.

Fuckers.

GlitterToast · 11/10/2019 18:33

I'm transgender. I reject the archaic gender stereotypes associated with my biological sex.

I have never seen any transphobia on Mumsnet. Most people from what I can see are transgender themself.

I'd boycott Flora, but I'd never buy such tasteless processed crap anyway. Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 11/10/2019 18:35

I don't think a company selling products containing palm oil can take much of a moral high ground on anything - they may claim a commitment to using sustainably grown palm oil but there isn't enough of that for everyone who says that and in any case it's unhealthy.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 11/10/2019 18:37

Pretty sure there is a lot of genuine transphobia on eg twitter and Facebook. I wonder when they will withdraw all of their advertising from those sites?

marvellousnightforamooncup · 11/10/2019 18:40

Look out for troll threads on the back of this. I've seen lots of posts talking about infiltrating us. Not that it'll make much difference, we have enough trolls anyway.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 11/10/2019 18:40

@GlitterToast 😘

ChickenNuggetsChipsAndBeans · 11/10/2019 18:41

I didn't realise that flora used palm oil. I won't buying it again.

Note to self - read labels more carefully

Note to Flora - don't leave your twitter feed in the hands of the work experience kid.

Somerville · 11/10/2019 18:41

I don't think a company selling products containing palm oil can take much of a moral high ground on anything

And packaging their fake food in all that plastic.

Easiest boycott ever.

flashbac · 11/10/2019 18:41

ALL YOU BAD WOMEN HAVING OPINIONS!
Get back in the kitchen where you belong and get that scold's bridle cleaned up while you're at it.
Grin
Fuck flora. Bastards

megletthesecond · 11/10/2019 18:46

I virtually live on here but transphobic comments are as rare as rocking horse shit. And they are deleted sharpish.

Most of us are simply concerned about male bodies in female spaces and unnecessary medical treatment of children. Not transphobic.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 11/10/2019 18:47

Where in that tweet have they called MN a hate site though? You seem to have just added that as a bit of click bait to whip up extra froth and drama.
I read it as after looking into (investigating) what people have been tweeting them, they don't want to be associated anymore because of the toxic trans discussions on here.
I won't be stopping buying Flora, love the fact that it's plant based now, more for me lol

thefattestchip · 11/10/2019 18:52

'Flora isn’t retro. They’ve made all of their spreads vegan'
mmm sounds delicious - how could I possibly resist? Grin

SesameOil · 11/10/2019 18:57

So palm oil is fine but thinking it might not be a good idea to let bepenised rapists in women's prisons is crossing the line. If brains were dynamite, that lot wouldn't have enough to blow their heads off.
