No more Flora for me, they’ve just announced they’re having nothing to do with the hate site mumsnet. mobile.twitter.com/StopFundingHate/status/1182647264046669824

You hazard incorrectly. Shocker.

Ereshkigal · 14/10/2019 21:06

Yes, round and round we all go again. With posters alluding to the horrific transphobia on MN but mysteriously failing to provide any concrete examples.

Come on, what do you think we should be allowed to say and how should we say it? You can pretend everyone reasonable agrees with you all you like. They don't.

Ereshkigal · 14/10/2019 21:09

I particularly enjoy the posters who have appointed themselves as the voice of reason, whose every pronouncement on the subject must necessarily be the last word on what's acceptable debate.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 14/10/2019 21:10

Round we go again, with posters troll hunted, insinuations of collusion, parachuting in, TRA troops, misogynists, etc etc. Perfect demonstration. Thanks dudes!

Amazing innit Grin
But it doesn't happen.
Nowt to see here.
Move along!
Confused Grin

Rocktheboot · 14/10/2019 21:27

But it doesn't happen
WHAT doesn't happen though?? Confused

is THIS what you mean, when you say MN is transphobic?

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 14/10/2019 21:30

WHAT doesn't happen though??

Oh for Gawd's sake Grin
Read Whatthingsexactly Mon 14-Oct-19 21:03:00 post.
THAT'S what I was referring to.
It's amazing, the amount of sheer misunderstanding to plain as day what people are saying, where are you getting transphobia from what the poster says? Can you really not see what she put or summat?
To quote What's phrase as to what you're doing right now - perfect demonstration - thanks dudes!

Rocktheboot · 14/10/2019 21:37

ok @Wotchatalkinboutwillis

so just so I understand properly, you ARE saying that calling misogyny, refering to TRA troops, collusion etc, are examples of misogyny?

NotBadConsidering · 14/10/2019 21:38

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis

I see you ignored my post where I collated all your posts that insisted fully explained your point of view, and, well didn’t at all. I see you’re still insinuating transphobia on Mumsnet without evidence, and still can’t explain what you mean, merely saying “Oh for Gawd's sake”.

Why don’t you explain what you mean? Without. The. Full. Stops. This. Time.

Campervan69 · 14/10/2019 21:40

"Mums are boycotting Flora margarine. Not because, let’s be honest, whatever the health benefits, marg is never going to taste as indulgently delicious as butter. But because Upfield, owner of Flora and a number of other plant-based spreads, has pulled the brand’s links to Mumsnet, the online parenting resource and all-round mothers’ mouthpiece.

Mumsnet’s offence was to allowdiscussion of issues relating to the transgender debateon its message boards – where some of its more than 10 million members raised such controversies as whether female professional athletes were losing out to competitors who were once male.

A forum in which mothers discussed their concerns about the growing number of children questioning their gender and the best ways to help them was deemed a particular red flag."

FeckOffGraham · 14/10/2019 21:51

Great article campervan.

Campervan69 · 14/10/2019 22:03

The Telegraph are on a roll today there's another good article about the police taking down the adult human female stickers in Oxford and describing it as a crime

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/10/14/police-response-transphobic-stickers-branded-extraordinary/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

Lifeof333s · 14/10/2019 22:08

Not incorrectly Sesame. Your post was deleted as was the previous post I reported. MN have finally got back to me.

Datun · 14/10/2019 22:11

Some of the stickers, which have been dotted around the city centre, state: “Woman: noun. Adult human female” and “Women don’t have penises.

It said: “Officers are investigating a large number of offensive stickers that have been placed across Oxford city centre containing transphobic comments.

Zayna Ratty, the chair of Oxford Pride, said the stickers were “inducing hate crime”.

This is going to get very interesting.

NotBadConsidering · 14/10/2019 22:32

”A forum in which mothers discussed their concerns about the growing number of children questioning their gender and the best ways to help them was deemed a particular red flag."

This irks me in particular. Why aren’t TRAs up in arms that children questioning their gender identity are being given poorly researched, evidence lacking treatments? Surely that’s real transphobia, subjecting people to lower standards of healthcare just because they’re trans? But no, apparently Mumsnet is transphobic for even questioning it.

Melroses · 14/10/2019 22:34

Zayna Ratty, the chair of Oxford Pride, said the stickers were “inducing hate crime”.

Yes, that is interesting - it is getting a bit like the old "sus" law Hmm

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 14/10/2019 22:36

Do some people really love such sheltered lives that a bio fact printed on a piece of paper is scary?

What a silly billy.

Datun · 14/10/2019 22:42

This irks me in particular. Why aren’t TRAs up in arms that children questioning their gender identity are being given poorly researched, evidence lacking treatments?

Sooner or later these questions will get asked all over the place.

The sunlight will work.

nauticant · 14/10/2019 22:45

This report has a bit more information:

www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/17960516.sticker-fight-transphobic-messages/

It's interesting to read the comments below that report.

Boireannachlaidir · 14/10/2019 22:54

Excellent post @Notthebloodymustardcushion

I admit I haven't RTFT but I enjoyed this article:
https://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2019/10/mumsnet-flora-and-the-spread-of-the-corporate-culture-wars/

I can't believe it's not misogyny. Smile

zebrasdontwearbras · 14/10/2019 23:21

"I can't believe it's not misogyny"

-is the absolute last word here. Spot on.

ferntwist · 14/10/2019 23:24

Totally agree. Lifetime Flora customer here and NEVER buying it again until they reverse this bizarre decision. Bertolli all the way now!

CampingItUp · 14/10/2019 23:31

Good Spectator article, despite patronising Intro about what a forum of women ‘should’ be concerned with.

I liked this para:

To posit, as the ideologues on the internet and in the universities do, that contrary views threaten your gender identity is to say that your expression is contingent on the expression of others. Their speech, not how you feel, makes your gender real

NotBadConsidering · 15/10/2019 01:00

Classic example of what we have to deal with: brand new poster, only posting on Flora threads in the last few days, now starting antagonistic thread in FWR:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3717975-Does-anyone-give-any-thought-to-women-who-want-to-preserve-womens-spaces-but-also-have-a-trans-child

Lifeof333s · 15/10/2019 06:45

Which is exactly what happens with thread after anti trans thread started. It doesn’t stop there, plenty of other threads on different subjects are infiltrated with posters trying to push the agenda. Are you also blind to the many butter threads re entry started? Complaining re puberty blocking drugs and the NHS is often used as an excuse. There stance seems reasonable with drugs being a possible option and each child treated as an individual.

www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-body/think-your-child-might-be-trans-or-non-binary/

The poster in your link says she has been here 10 years, it is frequently more common to name change when discussing sensitive subjects particularly if you have previously written self identifying posts.
