No more Flora for me, they’ve just announced they’re having nothing to do with the hate site mumsnet. mobile.twitter.com/StopFundingHate/status/1182647264046669824

And as for virtual signalling I don’t see any MN campaigns to boycott against the many other products and companies using palm oil.

Frequency · 14/10/2019 19:45

I don’t use Twitter, my FB and Insta feed are transphobia free

Google confirmation bias.

My FB is, funnily enough, filled with my interests health (hair, dogs, mental health, creative writing, politics IT and women's right fwiw). I never see anything about gaming on there but I am not naive enough to believe gamers don't use FB.

Rocktheboot · 14/10/2019 19:47

@Lifeof333s I really REALLY dislike it when posters cry 'bullying' when people disagree with them. Bullying is very very serious. I have a suicidal 8 year old who won't go to school due to historic bullying. Please grow up. Just explain the logic of your position? and how it's not rooted in misogyny?

Did you look ^ there?

Rocktheboot · 14/10/2019 19:49

@Lifeof333s I expect there are some threads on palm oil. I don't know anyone who buys products containing palm oil. it's pretty basic

SesameOil · 14/10/2019 19:50

Lifeof333, you literally said words that have the same meaning as being ignorant of what is happening on twitter. You don't use it, you don't know what's said on there. That means you are ignorant of it: this isn't a matter of opinion.

As you are ignorant of what happens on twitter (which isn't necessarily a bad thing considering what a cesspit it can be) I shall explain. It's full of racism, white supremacy, anti-Semitism, misogyny and yes, transphobia. And it makes a lot of money from ad revenue because people use it. Upfield took the decision to stop advertising with MN following a discussion on twitter. That is, they withdrew from one allegedly transphobic platform whilst continuing to engage on one that contains much more hate (not a shock since it's a lot more widely used). This is why it is hypocritical.

If you support Upfield's actions in stopping engaging with MN but staying on twitter, you're supporting them participating in platforms and financially assisting platforms that contain hate and transphobia. And I mean actual transphobia, not just people saying it might not be a good idea to let male sex offenders self identify into women's prisons.

Also, spurious accusations of bullying are in themselves an attempt to bully.

Lifeof333s · 14/10/2019 19:52

Now I won’t grow up thank you. I too have a bullied child and know bullying when I see it.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 14/10/2019 19:53

I don’t think the clip of an NSPCC shot exactly helped the cause there! 😂

wheresmymojo · 14/10/2019 19:55

Without getting into whether MN has any elements of transphobic chat or not...I find it odd that they're on Twitter given that I spend a lot of my time on there reporting extreme right wing posts about killing Jews/Muslims/etc. Don't they care about that?

...and yes the accounts reporting get a Twitter ban. And after a few days are allowed back on again.

Rocktheboot · 14/10/2019 19:55

a pretty biased article, but hardly 'damning'. you seem prone to melodrama

Juells · 14/10/2019 19:58

Wow that is pretty damning as regards MN.

So what? The Independent, like the Guardian, would like everyone to believe that everyone in the whole world believes that people can change sex, and that women have absolutely nothing to fear.

I take it all these companies will be boycotted, I see Pure and Kerrygold, Muller and many, many others are on there. Will wait to see the call to arms.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 14/10/2019 19:59

Just everything that SesameOil said.

???

Lmao nope!

Previous employees saying site editors ignored complaints, the site being used to organise campaigns...

Not sesameoil, lifeof333! Not defending myself from accusations of being a Flora troll lmao.

Lifeof333s · 14/10/2019 20:08

I’m not a Flora parachuter . I have reported the offensive post further down and object to this continuous accusation but have heard nothing. Funny that. Will try again.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 14/10/2019 20:11

@Juells NSPCC were going to have a chat on here but backed out because we are all horrid nasties.

Then they appointed an ambassador who was outed as having been on twitter and said kids could message them directly (whoops), and had a history of racist/sexist/homophobic/misogynistic tweets.

Then the ambassador wasn’t really an ambassador after all, phew!

The person responsible for getting the ambassador onboard was outed as a person who liked, err, well pleasuring themselves at work in a rubber suit. And posting about it (footage and photos too!) on social media.

People pointed it out. NSPCC said everyone who did this was homophobia and nasty.

Turns out the employee is now also not an employee (now) after being quietly sacked.

No apologies to those it insulted for bringing the matter to lights.

NSPCC - lalalalala nothing happened, nothing to see here...

Juells · 14/10/2019 20:13

Again, so what. The previous employee was very lucky not to be charged for a data breach, and a lot of posters thought she should have been.

Please explain exactly why women should be prevented for organising campaigns against anything and everything that we don't like? We're up against a powerful lobbying group.

SesameOil · 14/10/2019 20:15

I know you're not a Flora parachuter lifeof333, that's exactly what I was saying, in your defence. Seen you round these parts pulling this before.

Lifeof333s · 14/10/2019 20:16

Pulling what?

Juells · 14/10/2019 20:16

LordProf

Ah, thought you meant something that was on the same Independent page as the article. The NSPCC thing was unbelievable - but again, shows where being woke leads.
