Solve an argument please!

Person A says that when you fold the ironing board and stand it up, the iron plate goes at the bottom.

Person B says that the iron plate goes at the top.
Who is right?

B on my ironing board. It won't stand up the other way.

But it is very old and the whole things is very heavy, so might be designed differently to newer, lighter ones.

Top - otherwise the board is resting on it and it might get bent.

Mine has a fold out bit on the plate end for hangers and it would flop open if the plate went at the bottom.

I always stand mine up with the plate at the bottom. Just looked at it though and it is indeed resting on the plate so I’m probably wrong. I hardly look at my ironing board though because I hate ironing.

I just thought about this - I am left handed so have the ironing plate to the left of me when ironing. When I've folded it down, the ironing plate end is the heaviest so I'm going to hold that in my dominant hand. I then sort of slide it into the cupboard so the plate stays at the top. I'd have to turn the ironing board upside down to get the plate at the bottom.

Does it really matter?
