Person A says that when you fold the ironing board and stand it up, the iron plate goes at the bottom.

Person B says that the iron plate goes at the top.
Who is right?

YABU - A
YANBU - B

B

When you pull the lever to collapse the board, it falls with the pointed end towards the floor. It also stays closed when stored with the plate at the top, but falls open with the pointed end up.

I don’t even have an ironing board

MrsMonkeyBear · 07/10/2019 06:52

B.

We have a funky ironing board rack in our cupboard to hang it on and the plate has to go on the top as it doesn't fit otherwise

Top. Bottom is illegal.

Mind you I also put glasses in the cupboard the right way up and I know some people put them in upside down...

Jano69 · 07/10/2019 06:55

Top !

Iron plate goes at the bottom here 🤷‍♀️

fluffygreenmonsterhoody · 07/10/2019 07:08

B. Way too awkward to have the heavy end at the bottom and have to spin it all the way up to open it and put it up.

PickedByYou · 07/10/2019 07:24

A. I've a picture to prove itWink

Top!

We attached a large hook thing to the wall and it goes through the middle of the plate and just holds it in place so it doesn't fall over in the pantry.

Weirdly I have never considered there may be sick, twisted individuals out there who invert their ironing board and put the plate at the bottom.

Tonnerre · 07/10/2019 07:39

Has to be B. On most ironing boards, if you store it with the plate at the bottom, it means the bit where the legs open is at the top and there's a danger of it swinging open so the whole thing topples over.

OneThreadOnly0101 · 07/10/2019 07:47

B. But I don't iron and am not entirely sure where my ironing board is.

Troilusworks · 07/10/2019 07:55

B.

It seems more stable stored that way.

Definitely B as A would be upside down

B.

DS1 puts it back the wrong way up and it annoys me more than it should Grin

Like PragmaticWench's, ours falls open if stored plate end down.

Shodan · 07/10/2019 08:16

Also- the legs stick out at the end when folded.

Legs are for standing on.

Ergo, they should be at the bottom.

Otherwise your ironing board is doing a headstand the whole time it's put away, which would probably give it a headache.

I am caring for my ironing board's well-being.

Iron plate at the top because I have a hook in the utility room to hang it from.
