Person A says that when you fold the ironing board and stand it up, the iron plate goes at the bottom.

Person B says that the iron plate goes at the top.
Who is right?

YABU - A
YANBU - B

I guess the same kind of people who care which way up you stand it!

0DimSumMum0 · 07/10/2019 02:10

Plate at the top or else it is bottom heavy and falls over

Although I’m looking at it and wondering what the point of it is now actually! I barely ever use it but when I do the iron stand goes at the top! I think the reason why is because A: it’s like in the Argos catalogue and B: the legs are still being legs (?? 🤷‍♀️)

Wingedharpy · 07/10/2019 02:38

Plate at the top otherwise the legs open up when wrestling it out of the cupboard, one handed.

Hesafriendfromwork · 07/10/2019 02:42

Definitely at the top.

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 07/10/2019 02:50

It depends on the ironing board but most are designed with the plate going at the top. Most UK ones are like this.
The shape of the legs sometimes give additional stability and will give a clue which way is best.

Mine is stored sideways.

Topseyt · 07/10/2019 02:53

Plate at the top.

We don't do ironing in this house though. Our ironing board lives down the side of the fridge freezer in the utility room of doom, where it has remained peacefully forgotten about for years. The iron is buried somewhere.

B

UndomesticHousewife · 07/10/2019 02:59

Top.

Mine wouldn't stand easily with plate on the bottom, the board would fall outwards unless it was at a steep angle when propped up against the wall.

mawbroon · 07/10/2019 03:00

Mine doesn't have a plate, but I stand it up with the square bit at the top and the pointy end down.

So, B

Shadow1234 · 07/10/2019 03:43

Plate at the top for me.

FeedMeTikka · 07/10/2019 03:46

B

CheeryB · 07/10/2019 05:12

B is correct. Mine would fall open with the plate at the bottom.

Scratchyfluffface · 07/10/2019 06:17

A

Hederex · 07/10/2019 06:19

Bottom

IsolaPribby · 07/10/2019 06:22

Life is just too short!

GymNovice · 07/10/2019 06:26

A. Because if the metal bit was at the top, it would leave a mark on my wall. Metal bit at bottom and feet facing out so the cushioned side leans agains the wall.
