HELL, NO.

Use as a middle name if you’re that keen.

MatchaMuffin · 06/10/2019 12:17

Both fab names, but no

1300cakes · 06/10/2019 12:18

I've heard worse combos, but no I wouldn't do it.

recrudescence · 06/10/2019 12:20

They will be able to hear the difference between Wills and Willow. They’re not dogs FGS.

Pieinthesky11 · 06/10/2019 12:20

I do know two names so similar is a daft idea, but just can't find another I like as much

HeyNotInMyName · 06/10/2019 12:25

In your experience, what is Willow shortened as?

Zebraaa · 06/10/2019 12:26

Why would you do that??

GabsAlot · 06/10/2019 12:27

cANT YOU HAVE CARYS WILLOW INSTEAD

GabsAlot · 06/10/2019 12:28

oops sorry didnt realise lock was on

JassyRadlett · 06/10/2019 12:28

the pronunciation emphasis on both names is different with William being a longer first syllable emphasis and Willow being a longer second syllable emphasis.

That isn’t how most people pronounce Willow, is it? I’ve only ever heard it with the emphasis on the first syllable.

Cocoismydog · 06/10/2019 12:29

Lovely name but not with a William I’m afraid.

DontCallMeShitley · 06/10/2019 12:30

Too similar, but I also think of Willow butter in a gold foil wrapper, not sure if it is still made though or if the wrapper is still the same assuming it is.

TurquoiseDress · 06/10/2019 12:30

I wouldn't do that!

The names just sound too similar, even if they do have different surnames etc

William and Willow sounds like a comedy pair IMO

Abstractedobstructed · 06/10/2019 12:30

Willow is a beautiful name, but it carries strong associations.
Willowy means slender.
So if your Willow gets puppy fat or is an overweight person, it's added grist to the bullies mill.
Plus there is the well known pussy Willow, again offering up a distressing nickname.
For me those risks push it into the "lovely but no" category.
My friend who very nearly called her DD Willow ended up with a Stella instead.

LuckyAmy1986 · 06/10/2019 12:31

Eleanor is a beautiful name

AloeVeraLynn · 06/10/2019 12:32

Ember is porny

chezbot · 06/10/2019 12:32

Huge Wicker Man fan here OP. Do It! (Britt Ekland's character is Willow)

poppycity · 06/10/2019 12:33

I mean they are different but very similar, also the styles are very different. What about another plant/flower/nature name? Magnolia, Marigold, Meadow, etc.

dottiedodah · 06/10/2019 12:38

I think its a little too similar TBH! maybe use as a second name?

SunMoonRainShine · 06/10/2019 12:40

Only issue is the nickname 'Will', so you might have to go with 'Billy' or similar for William's nickname.

Witchinaditch · 06/10/2019 12:40

I deliberated over this (well for 5 seconds!) I think Willow is a lovely name but it’s too much of a tongue twister, but you will get used to it if you love the name then do it

Tweetingmagpie · 06/10/2019 12:41

Bad idea and willows are ten a penny these days.

jennymanara · 06/10/2019 12:44

Willow is slang for a clitoris - so no.

WellAlrightWellOK · 06/10/2019 12:48

Yabu if your surname is tree.

NoSauce · 06/10/2019 12:49

Eleanor.
