If you love it,, go for it, dont worry about what anyone else thinks, willow and william are lovely i think its realy quite sweet 😊😊

LionelRitchieStoleMyNotebook · 06/10/2019 12:50

Too similar. Ember moon is a wrestler.

SmoothLawAbider · 06/10/2019 12:53

There are endless names out there. Naming your DD Willow after calling your DS William shows a SEVERE lack of imagination.

Hydrogenbeatsoxygen · 06/10/2019 12:53

My Golden Retriever was called Willow. It’s a lovely name, for a dog.

donquixotedelamancha · 06/10/2019 12:54

the pronunciation emphasis on both names is different with William being a longer first syllable emphasis and Willow being a longer second syllable emphasis.

Yeah, I agree, do it OP. Just introduce them as William and Willooooowww and it will seem perfectly normal.

Pieinthesky11 · 06/10/2019 12:55

Grin some of these responses are hilarious xx William refuses to change his name to Billy bunter to accommodate

Meshy23 · 06/10/2019 12:57

No way - it may result in them being teased. Perhaps as a middle name would be nice though

ViaSacra · 06/10/2019 12:57

Eleanor and William are both lovely, classy names that could take them into any walk of life. And they go together beautifully.

I also really like Carys.

Astra I can't quite get on board with as it sounds like the start of "astro-turf" to me. I do quite like Astrid though.

bluebluezoo · 06/10/2019 13:03

Willow is slang for a clitoris - so no

On which planet?

Never, ever heard that particular “slang” before.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 06/10/2019 13:04

Waterlily so it also starts with a W but Lily for short and as her real name, also flowery/nature style? (Tongue in cheek. Grin)

Honeyroar · 06/10/2019 13:04

I like the name Willow, but if you already have a William you'll kind of be seen as one of those families that have to have all their children with similar names (my ex John had siblings called James, Jenny and Julie and his mother was Jan, very confusing re opening letters!).

Eleanor would work really well with William. Both classy names, whereas Willow is a bit "trying to be unusual".

sued13206 · 06/10/2019 13:05

Beautiful name for a girl but personally wouldn't have two children with such similar names due to confusion and frustration it will cause later on.

Purplestorm83 · 06/10/2019 13:05

I knew someone called Christine, her brother was called Christopher 🤔

MoaningMinniee · 06/10/2019 13:08

I love the name Willow, but the only living creature I know with that name at the moment is a dog (a very beautiful one to be fair. I also think @Abstractedobstructed has a fair point. Carys is gorgeous.

And since they have different surnames you don't even get the benefit of saving on school name tapes!

EdWinchester · 06/10/2019 13:08

No. Too silly.

Rachelover60 · 06/10/2019 13:08

No, choose something quite different that doesn't begin with a W.

Sarah Palin had a child called 'Willow' - her others were Trigg and Track. Says it all really.

PixiKitKat · 06/10/2019 13:10

You'll save 50% of your time shouting them out of bed on a school morning if you nickname them both Will Grin

Mummybares · 06/10/2019 13:10

No no no
If you must Willamina and so theyd be will and mina

Breathlessness · 06/10/2019 13:10

I love the name but it is an incredibly popular name for cats and William and Willow sounds like a high end wallpaper brand.

Justaboy · 06/10/2019 13:20

Willow:) and William, as all the William's I know are Bill!.

Elanor is a lovely name so Willow Elanor, then she can choose which one she likes in later years!.

My DGD has Four names!!

Stealthfart · 06/10/2019 13:30

@jennymanara what utter twaddle. Also I’ve never come across anybody with a cat/hamster/whatever called Willow. My two penn’orth is that I have a Willow (named after the willows in Hagley Park, Christchurch) and she gets ‘Wills’. A lot.

SmoothLawAbider · 06/10/2019 13:42

Willow was the 20th most popular girls name in England and Wales last year. Safe to say there are LOTS of humans called Willow.

jennymanara · 06/10/2019 13:43

@stealthfart It is not twaddle. Maybe not where you live?

EowynDernhelm · 06/10/2019 13:45

I know someone with a teenager called Willow. It was unusual when she used the name, but has become increasingly popular. Isn't Pinks daughter called Willow? And Will Smiths daughter?

My friends daughter gets called Wills generally, and Willsie.

It is a name I have seen used for animals too, but no reason why it can't be for people too?

I dont' think that there is a big issue with having a Willow and a William as such, but it's human nature to shorten names - if you shorten William to Wills, what would you use for Willow?

fizzandchips · 06/10/2019 13:49

Eleanor Willow is lovely.
William and Eleanor
Wills and Nell or Nellie for short?
