I think it's a nice name but basically you'd end up with two DCs called 'Will' and that's just confusing for everybody.

LoseLooseLucy · 06/10/2019 13:53

Willow is slang for a clitoris - so no.

Where on earth?!

I like Willow, but not as a sibling to William.

sweetiepy · 06/10/2019 13:53

A friend called her daughters Lorna, Laura and Lana! Very confusing!
Don’t do it!

Luaa · 06/10/2019 13:53

Quite similar but if you love it then go for it.

I have a willow and she has one friend who calls her will, other than that everyone calls her willow.

MerryMarigold · 06/10/2019 13:54

the pronunciation emphasis on both names is different with William being a longer first syllable emphasis and Willow being a longer second syllable emphasis.

No, it's not. They both have the stress on the first syllable. I've never heard of Will-OHHH. It's WILL-ow and WILL -ee-uhm

chezbot

Me too!

Willow is a very beautiful name, go for it OP

I love all the names in The Wicker Man

morrisseysquif · 06/10/2019 13:56

I knew somebody with a Willow who also had a Sorrel and Iona?

DaveTheGhost · 06/10/2019 14:02

It’s lovely but too close to William

BakedBeeeen · 06/10/2019 14:03

Jennymanara - is it? It just makes me think of the blue peter cat. I guess it depends on how old you are!

percheron67 · 06/10/2019 14:03

My friend had a very pretty mare named Willow.

Cornettoninja · 06/10/2019 14:08

Sorry, I think they’re too similar. Just as a suggestion how about Paige? That always fits in the same category as willow in my head for some reason.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 06/10/2019 14:17

I wouldn't do it.

I have 2 boys - we loved a name that was far too similar-sounding to DS1's name for DS2, but decided against it because it was far too similar sounding. He has it for a middle name instead.

I once knew of 2 brothers called Jordan and Jaiden (not twins). That was bad too.

Oliversmumsarmy · 06/10/2019 14:33

Don’t see the problems

AudTheDeepMinded · 06/10/2019 14:34

Probably a bit late now, but in hindsight you could have shortened Ds's name to Bill.

Jue01 · 06/10/2019 14:53

One of my good friends at school was Emma her sister wa

Jue01 · 06/10/2019 14:55

Oops - pressed too soon!! Her sisters name was Emily!!

Moondancer73 · 06/10/2019 14:55

I think it's lovely but possibly not if you have a William already

HollyGoLoudly1 · 06/10/2019 15:06

Lovely but too similar imo.

TheScruffyDog · 06/10/2019 15:20

Not with William. I know three baby girls named Willow. Carys is lovely, Ember is nice, bit will get confused for Amber/Emma. I can't stand the name Eleanor though which MN usually loves though.

recklessruby · 06/10/2019 15:43

Have it as a middle name? Eleanor Willow is nice. Ellie and Wills.
My cat is called Eleanor (Ellie/Nellie) though so I love the name.
My ds is Steve and was going to call dd Sophie but steve n soph sound like a naff American show so we went with Emma.

ViaSacra · 06/10/2019 16:46

I used to know a pair of sisters called Maria and Maia which I always thought were far too similar.

William and Willow are even worse imo.

Pieinthesky11 · 06/10/2019 17:20

Maybe call her yanbu

OP posts:
PablosHoney · 06/10/2019 17:22

What if she doesn’t turn out willowy

MoaningMinniee · 06/10/2019 17:33

@Pieinthesky11 Grin!

Butchyrestingface · 06/10/2019 17:35

Maybe call her yanbu

You could do worse. It's the name of a major port in the Red Sea.
