And about time, too. They never stop castigating her.

Prince Harry has said that he's worried that she'll end up being the same kind of victim that his mother was with regard to the Press.

I hope she wins her case.

Granted I don’t follow royal coverage. but whenever I’ve chanced on pics of Harry and Meghan they always look really happy.

TheMustressMhor · 03/10/2019 16:56

however Harry looks depressed and miserable and I think he has realised he has married a woman who wants the attention and limelight, where his family clearly do not and now he is torn between them both.

Really? And how do you know this?

Don't blame him when the media circus are like a pack of hungry wolves and the internet is bitching on overtime about his wife and Mother of his child, I wouldn't feel very happy either.

If someone can please explain one single, tangible benefit to the public of maintaining these very ordinary, very entitled people in lives of unimaginable luxury at our expense, I would be very grateful

Zilch.

MissEliza · 03/10/2019 17:07

@BertrandRussell agreed but I think starting with Charles, it's become quite irritating when royals decide what they think is important and then use the public purse to fund it.

littlehappyhippo · 03/10/2019 17:11

Of course Harry is getting pissed off and reacting to the horrible Mail newspaper. He has every right, and has done nothing wrong! His wife is being lambasted by them, and treated like crap. And as he saw his mum go through the same thing (terrorised by the press,) it's understandable that he wants to protect his wife from them. Especially after how things ended with his mum. Sad

What kind of man would sit back and let this happen? You people saying he is in the wrong must have very low standards of how a woman should be treated. I actually pity you, I really do. And I absolutely applaud Harry (and Meghan) for taking the Mail to task. The way they have treated Meghan is disgusting, and no matter how many different ways people try to deny it, it IS because she is a woman of colour. Anyone who denies this is deluded.

And Harry is NOT thick or stupid or badly educated and all the other little doozies people have come out with. He is an intelligent and opinionated man, like Meghan is an intelligent and opinionated woman. Is that what you people don't like? That they are strong and opinionated and don't follow so-called 'protocol?'

I suppose you think they should just take the abuse and not retaliate eh? Why is that? Because they deserve it? Because they are privileged and entitled? Is that what you think? That they signed up to this so I suppose they deserve all the hate eh? That speaks volumes about some people on here. And I guess all you people saying they are thick all have a masters from Cambridge huh?

And as for the comments about Wills and Kate being thick too. PMSL. They graduated from one of the finest Universities in the world FGS! Harry and Meghan, and Wills and Kate are worth 10 of you, and are clearly a lot more intelligent, according to some of the daft and inaccurate comments I have been reading on here about the Royal family, various University degrees, and various Universities. I suppose it's easy to bash people and name-call from the anonymous safety of a keyboard though eh?

And saying Harry always looks depressed and miserable? LOL what a load of old tosh! That's what you WANT to believe. It's not even remotely true.

Must be horrible to be so jealous and bitter. Just because they have the life you want. Try and improve your own lives, instead of trying to bring others down who have better lives than you.

BertrandRussell · 03/10/2019 17:19

“it's become quite irritating when royals decide what they think is important and then use the public purse to fund it.”

What sort of things do you mean?

NoTheresa · 03/10/2019 17:19

He has done everything wrong by going into rant mode as he did. He smashed the positives from their tour into pieces. Neither his father nor his brother were informed of his intention. I imagine the Queen was not either.
The whole thing was an acutely embarrassing and totally inappropriate.

NoTheresa · 03/10/2019 17:20

was acutely embarrassing

NoTheresa · 03/10/2019 17:20

Who suffered this acute embarrassment?

Me. I'm suffering this acute embarassment on their behalf lol

Thing is I'm not sure what an alternative, elected head of state would be like? I imagine nomination would become something to angle for in retirement and become very political like a position in the HoL is currently (although we have no say in the latter).

SaraNade · 03/10/2019 17:30

The Queen as the Head of the Royal family was not informed of his intention to launch, via the Royal family's legal counsel, a lawsuit?

Please tell me people are really not this absurd, and are just joking. Somebody?

Anybody?

Softly but plaintively

SaraNade · 03/10/2019 17:32

@WotchaTalkinBoutWillis It could have been worse. They could have said Chronic embarrassment.

PortiaCastis · 03/10/2019 17:33

How does anyone know for sure who was told or wasn't and suing a muck raking redtop for publishing a private letter is all said paper deserves, why should they be able to publish private correspondence unchecked, they are low!
All human beings have feelings and that should be remembered before bullying and being complete arseholes about one person yep just one person but it seems some folk make being an arsehole a full time occupation
Shame on them

Puzzledandpissedoff · 03/10/2019 17:34

I suppose you think they should just take the abuse and not retaliate eh? Why is that?

Perhaps because anything they say can only make things worse? Any real hatred or racism reflects mainly on the giver so can safely be ignored, but if they're not prepared to listen even to constructive criticism there's really not much they can add

LaurieMarlow · 03/10/2019 17:37

There isn’t one.

My concern would be how to dislodge them. I’ve no appetite for revolution. Is there a more civilised way of getting rid of monarchies?

It will be interesting to see what happens when Charles takes the reigns. There’s a lot of good will for her Maj, which I’m sure he’ll piss away. As the approval ratings fall, things could get interesting.

TheMustressMhor · 03/10/2019 17:41

Charles is not going to be a popular King, to be sure. I think it will be twenty five years or so before Prince William becomes King - so he'll be nearly sixty by then.

There is no way on God’s green earth this happened.

The fact that theresa thinks it did is probably proof enough that it didn’t. Grin

LaurieMarlow · 03/10/2019 17:42

I don’t think Wills will be Mr popularity either, the way he’s shaping up. Though ppl like Kate and she might rehabilitate him a bit.

TheMustressMhor · 03/10/2019 17:45

I agree with you LaurieMarlow that the Queen would definitely have been fully advised regarding the legal action.

There is no chance that Prince Harry would have started this without getting her advice.

And on that note - goodbye.
