And about time, too. They never stop castigating her.

Prince Harry has said that he's worried that she'll end up being the same kind of victim that his mother was with regard to the Press.

I hope she wins her case.

In fairness, Wills is from an era of anonymous exam marking, so probably didn’t get that much of a leg up.

BertrandRussell · 03/10/2019 15:22

SOAS 1916.

Nothing stealth about it!

NoTheresa · 03/10/2019 15:22

@ LaurieMarlow
The University of Edinburgh.
Anyone else care to come clean?!

TheMustressMhor · 03/10/2019 15:23

@LaurieMarlow

But Trinity College Dublin was only founded in 1592!

How could you bear to associate yourself with this seat of learning?

Only the BEST colleges were established prior to 1500.

Yeah, because Oxford don't give out sports scholarships.....

TheMustressMhor · 03/10/2019 15:24

University College London.

Ok Bertrand, fair play. That is a damn fine yooni.

BertrandRussell · 03/10/2019 15:25

“In fairness, Wills is from an era of anonymous exam marking, so probably didn’t get that much of a leg up.”
I think he got decent A levels. But I imagine a place would have been found for him whatever. It’s the perfect place for a reasonably bright extremely posh floppy haired English boy to be completely anonymous........Grin

LaurieMarlow · 03/10/2019 15:26

But Trinity College Dublin was only founded in 1592!

It is a source of shame

TheMustressMhor · 03/10/2019 15:26

I know, I know. Only established in the nineteenth century.

This thread is really getting a bit silly if people are going to start arguing over which is the better uni or speculate how people got their places at uni.
For the record, Northwestern is a well respected university and there's absolutely no reason to think that MM got a place there on any basis except merit.
Anyway academic qualifications don't mean you're smarter in the real world (and I'm speaking a someone with a first class honours degree and post graduate qualifications). Just look at BoJo!

justasking111 · 03/10/2019 15:28

University of Karueein
The oldest existing, and continually operating educational institution in the world is the University of Karueein, founded in 859 AD in Fez, Morocco. The University of Bologna, Italy, was founded in 1088 and is the oldest one in Europe.

TheMustressMhor · 03/10/2019 15:29

UCL, I mean.

By NoTheresa's logic that means even the D of S has the march on me.

Lots of American females come to St Andrews, too. There was a bit of a rush on when it became known Wills was going to go there. (Darn it, if only Meghan had known, she could have grabbed herself an actual heir. Lol)

NoTheresa · 03/10/2019 15:30

Kate knew, though. Clever girl. 🙂

SaraNade · 03/10/2019 15:32

If someone is suggesting a university is better just because they are older, it is no wonder the debating skills of people on here are getting worse all the time. You can have an old school in a poor underfunded area that doesn't perform well. Just because it is older than the newer school built in a different area, doesn't make it better. Goodness, are people really this immature and lacking in basic rational/cognitive skills?

LaMarschallin · 03/10/2019 15:33

Just pointing out that Meghan is a graduate of a very highly ranked university, for the bashers who were denying this.

And she's far more likely to have got there on merit than someone in the public from birth: a member of the royal family, for instance.

It's one of the things that makes me think Harry can't as be dim* as he comes across sometimes. It would drive Meghan potty, surely?

One of my few criteria for deciding if I could be in a relationship with someone is they couldn't be less intelligent than me.
Believe me, there are some amoebas (amoebe?) at which even I would turn up my nose! Smile

*By "dim" I mean (before I'm interrogated): only able to get a B in A level Art and a C in A level Geography, despite having access to the most expensive education money could buy.

But also not able to recognise how someone in his priveliged position comes across with the lecturing to the proles.

Of course it's utter crap that the queen is frugal and recycles wrapping paper!
But, by staying stchum and letting that become an accepted fact she's stayed popular for a long time.

Harry's right about social media changing things though. All the royals might find that out eventually.

TheMustressMhor · 03/10/2019 15:34

You're quite right, @SaraNade.

We need to stop this idiocy about places of learning.

It is lowering the tone, of which the Queen would not approve.

Does anyone actually know what Meghan's qualifications were? Combined Arts Degree Laurie - what does that mean exactly? The Arts are normally English and History . How you combine that with International Studies (vague and unspecific) and Drama/Theatre I am not sure.

My point is that she is never described as thick by those who decide that someone who gets a good Honours degree at St Andrews is thick.

NoTheresa · 03/10/2019 15:41

@SaraNade

Riiiiight.😜

Old schools are on a par with “old” - aka ancient - universities?! I don’t think you understand the implication...

TheMustressMhor · 03/10/2019 15:41

I really don't think that anyone could describe Meghan as "thick".

I imagine no one will be able to offer a reliable answer....

NoTheresa · 03/10/2019 15:45

International Studies does sound suspiciously like Media Studies!! It certainly does have a vagueness tomit, in terms of name alone.

Surely International Relations is also on offer?

NoTheresa · 03/10/2019 15:46

to it

LaurieMarlow · 03/10/2019 15:50

Her degree is in Theatre and International Studies. No that’s nothing like Media Studies Theresa. I’m sure the course content is online, go educate yourself.
