I agree that Harry has been rumoured for many years to be a bit dim. Neither of them are particularly clever or they would be dealing with this differently.
William and Catherine hardly seem like brainboxes either though.
I think part of the problem is that Harry was so young losing his mother, he has had a huge amount of public sympathy, and his Mother was given virtual sainthood by many people when she died. Of course it was the most tragic death, a young woman in her prime, with two young sons who she adored. Whatever her other failings she seems to have been a very loving mother. But the absolute hysteria over her death was really rather strange and OTT.
Harry has been used to public affection, and now can’t cope with any criticism, and as pp said, does not seem able to put it in context. He is reacting emotionally rather than rationally.
To rake up the letter now, seems unwise. It isn’t the letter that is the reason people have mixed feelings about them both. Harry seems to have lots of unresolved anger over Diana’s death, blaming the palace suits, the media etc. Perhaps that is easier than looking at the roles of Charles, Camilla and Diana herself in the whole messy situation before she died ? Ultimately it was a tragic accident, even more so for having been avoidable .
I do think it must have been grim seeing a personal letter in print, but after Squidgy gate etc, there have been far more embarrassing things published. The tampon stuff for a start. Meghan must have realised her father might do this, she surely can predict his temperament and likely reaction to her fluff piece by friends ?
Dignified silence surely the way to go ?
