AIBU to be annoyed with my partner over his mum's will

My partner and I have been together 10 years and have 3 kids (my daughter, his son and a DD between us) When his dad died a few years ago his mum made a new will naming my partner and his sister as benefactories. I have asked him what would happen to his share of the money if he died before his mum and his answer is it'll probably go to the younger 2 children as we aren't married but if his sister died her share would go to her husband. This makes me so mad, he seems happy for myself and my older daughter to receive nothing and he won't ask his mum about it. My view is she could easily name me and my DD should be treated as her siblings are (although that's another saga) he should respect me enough to ask her about it.....

Your DP's mum is trying to ensure her money stays within her bloodline.
If your DP died, and you had been left his share of the £4million, and then you married someone who had kids, mum's money would go out of her family.
Perfectly sensible to take steps to prevent this happening. We have done so.

I do think it's a tricky one, and I think it is relevant what your older child may inherit separately from her father's relatives. On the whole though, and referring back to your initial post, there is no "should " about it. It is her money. She earned it or inherited it, and she can do what she wants with it.

It is fairly standard I believe for a will to say the estate is split between the children and if predeceasing their children split that share. Spouses rarely get a mention. For your daughter to be treated equally, he would need to adopt her or mil would have to name her/state she is considered equal to his natural children.

If your partner dies before his mum she might consider changing it then.

Yabu to be thinking about this in such detail really and also to be annoyed with anyone.
