To ask this man to stop sitting on my garden wall?

SierraHotelIndiaTangoHappens · 01/10/2019 10:57

I genuinely don't know whether I am being unreasonable or not. Nearly every day a man has taken to sitting directly on my garden wall whilst he seemingly waits for someone to pick him up.

He did it this morning again, I banged on the window, but he didn't even flinch! Only got up when I was taking my son outside to put him in his taxi with escort to school.

Should I tell him off next time he does it? Or just leave him be? I feel really weird about it (but I do have anxiety disorder so it might just be me)

How can one bum damage a wall?

What's it made off? Chip board?

ShirleyPhallus · 02/10/2019 12:02

But you said “live in London where such an event would usually mean a drug deal or stabbing”

So in your sisters case, the drug dealers very usefully to the police sit themselves in the same spot so they can easily be captured. As for the rest of London, nah mate. Ain’t true.

lovemenorca · 02/10/2019 12:06

“It’s in the news every week”

Because it has an exceptionally high crime rate and, as you concur, is a shit hole.

And you’re coming at the issue from that extreme angle. Other posters are being much more realistic

Uraflutteringcunt · 02/10/2019 12:07

The police only came out because she called them everyday for a month to report that they were using the lane as a change over point. They only came the first time because she saw one with a weapon. Are you familiar with Haringey? Croydon? Enfield? Leyton? Lovely places where people don’t obviously get burgled or stabbed at all ever, drugs don’t happen of course I suppose where you live? 😂 let me know and I’ll move there!

Uraflutteringcunt · 02/10/2019 12:08

Robberies happen everywhere. If there is a man on your wall for no discernible reason or purpose, do you seriously not think that there is even a slight chance he is casing the road for the times people go out?

lovemenorca · 02/10/2019 12:10

You’re so extreme. No has said they live anywhere that never has any crime. No one.

However I live in a lovely affluent town in SE England. Very low crime rate. So i see someone sitting on a wall - I either don’t think anything or I think they’re testing their legs / bad back / enjoying the sun / waiting for a friend.

You think they’re drug dealing / harbouring a knife

PurpleFlower1983 · 02/10/2019 12:14

I don’t see the harm at all, I wouldn’t do it myself but I wouldn’t allow myself to get upset about it.

Uraflutteringcunt · 02/10/2019 12:15

Shirley has said just that.
As for the rest of London, nah mate. Ain’t true.

OP hasn’t said where she lives. Or whether it’s a main road which is massively important to the context because he could just be waiting for a bus in which case I wouldn’t be in the least bit suspicious.

Of course high crime rate does make you question things but I think that all the responses here are people coming at it from the point of him being a lovely little gentleman quaintly sitting on a wall like it’s a scene from last of the summer wine. That’s not true for everyone and that’s why my answer reflects this.

custardbear · 02/10/2019 12:18

If he was just sitting there and the wall is ok then fine, if he's throwing rubbish in your garden, damaging the wall etc then no I'd tel him to go elsewhere

lovemenorca · 02/10/2019 12:25

I think it’s probably then reasonable to assume that he is in fact watching, and you should consider his behaviour suspicious

ShirleyPhallus · 02/10/2019 12:54

I live in one of those boroughs you mention, and not once has someone sitting on my front wall been because they’re doing a drug deal or planning on stabbing someone. Well, perhaps my elderly neighbour who sometimes rests there might be playing a really good game and fooling everyone but no. You really are crazy to think that I’m most of london, sitting on a wall = gang crime.

theretheirtheyrenotno · 02/10/2019 12:59

@Kanga83 would you do that before just asking him not to sit on the wall?

OP no big deal leave him be.

thisnamechanger · 02/10/2019 13:50

It literally says in the first post he waits for a lift. Hardly gang crime of the century.

thisnamechanger · 02/10/2019 13:52

Just saw the update.

OP: I genuinely don't know whether I am being unreasonable or not.

Also OP: fuck this guy...he is a young fit man, who can sit somewhere fucking well else...WHAT THE FUCK get off my wall you loon.

Glad you made your mind up then Grin

theretheirtheyrenotno · 02/10/2019 15:19

*I can't believe the amount of posters who think personally attacking me and my anxiety is okay.

Shame on you.

And fuck this guy, I have poured golden syrup on my wall, so if he does it again before the next time it rains, he'll get a sticky arse. He is a young fit man, who can sit somewhere fucking well else, he sat there before and my partner went back to check the door was locked and he didn't even move, he was like haha, did you forget something? WHAT THE FUCK get off my wall you loon.*

Well that's the AIBU sorted then!

easyandy101 · 02/10/2019 15:46

OP hasn’t said where she lives. Or whether it’s a main road which is massively important to the context because he could just be waiting for a bus in which case I wouldn’t be in the least bit suspicious.

op has provided a realistic scenario if him waiting to be collected to go to work though

Also please don't invoke Croydon to make your point

DoctorAllcome · 02/10/2019 17:23

Just because someone is young, doesn’t make them fit. Young “fit” looking people die of congenital heart conditions or asthma all the time. Besides, you shouldn’t have to be visibly disabled to be treated with humanity.

There is a loon alright, but it’s not the man sitting on a wall bordering a sidewalk for a few minutes a day for his ride to work.

Thismummyruns · 16/10/2019 10:41

Am I the only one who really wants to see the wall?

Dieu · 16/10/2019 10:55

Just ask him not to do it. Banging on the window and hiding is a bit pathetic.

DimensionalShambler · 16/10/2019 11:04

You are nasty and hateful and so are lots of people on this thread. Ink? Grease? What the actual fuck? I hope you’re in need of a rest one day when you’re out in the world and that you come up against someone as petty, small, and hateful as you are.

Conkerer · 16/10/2019 11:06

I'd just let the guy sit on the wall (while quietly grumbling to myself).

dimdarkashian · 16/10/2019 11:08

Haha this made Jeremy Vine

CAG12 · 16/10/2019 12:45

OP can we have an update on the wall?! 😂
