I spent a couple of hours doing one at a spa, in their "mind gym", and really enjoyed it, this thread has led me to look for that particular one, but apparently it's a very rare out of print one Sad (Mike jupp I love the seaside), so I've ordered a similar one to see if I enjoy it as much at home Grin

CheeseChipsMayo · 29/09/2019 14:29

My DC adore jigsaws,i find some doozys in the charity shops!-i hate them with a passion.too many sundays with grandma&nothing but smelly stew&jigsaw whilst it pissed it down😨..

BorisBadunov · 29/09/2019 15:05

I recommend any by Joan Steiner, they are real fun to make.

Maseandmum · 29/09/2019 15:08

I love jigsaws..we do Christmas ones and then frame them as part of our decorations.

Gotthetshirt23 · 29/09/2019 18:46

@ScruffGin , that on eBay for £15 ? Any good ?
This thread has made me start one, it's circular Shock

100PercentThatBitch · 29/09/2019 18:52

The PRICE of the Joan Steiner puzzles on Amazon Shock

Daisydad · 29/09/2019 19:03

Love a good jigsaw, music and a cuppa. Thwarted at the mo by the ninja pet double act. Kitten flicks the pieces off the dining table and the dog chews them into mush.
Luckily, most manufacturers replace pieces...........

BorisBadunov · 30/09/2019 00:50

@100PercentThatBitch, you can buy them on eBay for a fraction of that price!

MissLadyM · 30/09/2019 01:14

Doesn't everyone do the edges first?! I've ordered a puzzle board and can't wait! I've got an Abbey Road and Last Supper to do - I'm hoping it will help me get through Stoptober! 😬

Moknicker · 30/09/2019 01:43

I used to love them pre kids. After i had DC, MIL got me one in 2013. I tried to do it at various time but never managed. I finally pulled it out this May (DC are 10 and 8) and finished it. It was in DHs study so he ended up being into it as well.
Since then we have spent many happy hours doing jigsaws. Luckily my sister is also a fan so we swap our puzzles when done.

panticus · 30/09/2019 06:03

Another jigsaw fan here Smile They have to be 5000+ for me. I have a bit of a lazy technique which involves doing the border but then keeping all the other pieces in the box and trawling through by hand them to pick out pieces. There's not enough room to lay that many pieces out!

I think doing a puzzle is akin to meditation - it is so relaxing.

Chatt3rb0x · 02/10/2019 07:42

Just bought these

www.amazon.co.uk/Ravensburger-Christmas-Library-1000pc-Jigsaw/dp/B071KZSZQ3/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?keywords=ravensburger+christmas+books+jigsaw&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1569998327&sr=8-1

Can anybody advise on the best board for lap, does the one below have issues with the fabric.

Peridot1 · 02/10/2019 10:48

Those puzzles look good Chatt3rbOx. Lovely bright colours. Might have to treat myself!

Can see a link for a board though.

FriedEggs1 · 25/10/2019 20:47

I've decided to start my new 1,000 piece one!

Can anyone recommend the jigsaws that are currently available in The Works? They're only around 4 quid so am a bit dubious with them being so cheap! The brand is Corner Piece

BSJohnson · 28/02/2020 18:18

Resurrecting this thread to ask if anyone can recommend a jigsaw with shaped pieces, please?

We have a few of the lovely Wentworth ones with the whimsies, but they don't have any more designs we like at the moment.
