Did you save off your OH income without him noticing so that you could surprise him on his 50th birthday that you have paid of the mortgage? Or maybe you'll be getting him the sport car of his dream?

MarianaMoatedGrange · 27/09/2019 19:42

I have £2 until Monday. Lend us a tenner OP! Grin

JumpyLiz · 27/09/2019 19:46

Did you switch your energy providers, and stop buying takeout coffees?

Sweettalking · 27/09/2019 19:51

Why is OP getting such a hard time? There could be a mountain of reasons and anyone who has experience of an unhappy marriage but hasn’t got the magic LTB key to a new front door would understand why.

Thisismadness · 27/09/2019 19:53

Wish OP would tell us how and why! Because it’s impossible to say without that information!

timshelthechoice · 27/09/2019 19:54

I'm 25 and in an open marriage and my H's best friend send me a vid clip of him bashing the bishop.

FreshwaterBay · 27/09/2019 19:54

@LargeGnTPlease

Well some context would be good ! Remember Friday night is a 'kick-on' night on Mumsnet so you need to come back. Millions of families have more than £50k in savings in the UK, so there is your hurdle.

Well done, kind of thing....

MrsDimmond · 27/09/2019 19:54

Impossible to say without context.

OhTheRoses · 27/09/2019 19:56

And....... DH and his sisters remember being hungry as children. When FIL died there was just shy of £1m found in savings. That was truly shocking and MIL was party to it.

If it has neen to nobody's detriment fine. If not, not fine. DH squirrels as do I but nobody has suffered.

bobstersmum · 27/09/2019 19:56

Drip feed, she lives in India where 50k is like 20p.

lovemenorca · 27/09/2019 19:57

Matched Betting?

I've built up a decent savings pot. I started matched betting with my share of disposable income four years ago and have made a similar amount to the OP (although it's not all in savings) I learnt about match

Husband knows I have some money put away and that I've built it up from from my share of disposable income but does not see it as family money or half his at all because it's come from my share of disposable income, he buys cigarettes and alcohol with his disposable money and I matched bet with mine.

I treat my family plenty so it's not like I'm sat rolling in it while he's eating bread and water and he's said he'd feel like as arsehole thinking he should spend his disposable income how he likes and then think he gets a say in what I do with mine or that it's now half his too.

I treat my husband to weekends away and pay for his cigarettes with what I make from matched betting now. He can save up now if he wanted to but he'd rather spend it on weekends away with mates or his hobby.

TheNumberOneSourceOfEverything · 27/09/2019 20:03

The app is being an idiot and messing my posts up and cutting bits out so apologies if my post looks jumbled up.

Andysbestadventure · 27/09/2019 20:07

Ok what's with all the match betting posts recently? Is someone trying to flog an odds tracker??

MaybeitsMaybelline · 27/09/2019 20:11

Unless you tell us the why and what I will assume this is a journo post desperate to get responses for a made up article.

category12 · 27/09/2019 20:11

That's not a fuck off fund, that's a fuck you all fund.

Vilanelle · 27/09/2019 20:12

Yawn

Pannalash · 27/09/2019 20:15

Drip feed

MadeForThis · 27/09/2019 20:16

Why?

feelinghelplesstoday · 27/09/2019 20:17

@timshelthechoice that's nice for you

sandyvacancy · 27/09/2019 20:17

If you separated 50% of that would be his unless he agreed you could keep it. You can’t really hide it as a. it’s illegal and b. that’s a lot of money to hide!

AShore · 27/09/2019 20:17

Fancy lending it to me as a deposit for a house? Must be nice to earn so much that is possible! X

AtillatheHun · 27/09/2019 20:17

@lovemenorca - I've often thought that!
@xenia - who was your lawyer? there should be a blanket warning against them (please don't say that you negotiated your own settlement)

AShore · 27/09/2019 20:18

Ha, totally one of the match betting companies!!
