General Election tomorrow question

bridgetreilly · 26/09/2019 19:32

So, I did the MN survey and was a bit stumped by the question about who I would vote for if there was an election tomorrow. Like, at the moment, it's hard to remember whether we've still got a government from one day to the next. I know who I normally vote for but right now? Who knows! I'm not sure the results from that question will be all that representative of Mumsnetters normal political preferences.

Tory always.

Limitedsimba123 · 26/09/2019 19:41

I’ve posted this on another thread Ringdonna, but are you not concerned about the Tories attacks of the Judiciary, such as the threat to abolish the independent Judiciary in favour of US style elected Judges, and the damage this would do to democracy? In my opinion I would rather have the monster raving looney party in than a party that threatens to undermine the separation of powers.

SummerSun10 · 26/09/2019 19:45

Anything but Labour. Most likely Conservatives or Lib Dems

dowehaveastalker · 26/09/2019 19:46

Conservatives always.

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 26/09/2019 19:47

Lib Dem for the first time ever. Always a labour voter before.

Gingerkittykat · 26/09/2019 19:50

SNP

justonecottonpickingminute · 26/09/2019 19:51

Lib Dem.

(Would be Lib Dem even if not for the bollocks that is Brexit.)

smemorata · 26/09/2019 19:52

Lib Dem. I really can't understand anyone voting Tory even when the PM hasn't just been found to have illegally shut parliament!

SalrycLuxx · 26/09/2019 19:53

It was Tory until they failed to show respect for the Supreme Court and the rule of law.

Now it’ll have to be Lib Dem.

LellyMcKelly · 26/09/2019 19:53

Lib Dem. First time ever.

Actionhasmagic · 26/09/2019 19:54

Can’t believe some women would actually be dumb enough to vote for bojo - not sure if they are aware he binned the domestic abuse bill

TheTrollFairy · 26/09/2019 19:57

What is it that draws people to vote Tory? I know this can be said about any party but I just can’t see anything that would make me vote them (although I do usually agree with some of their manifesto)

Going back to the original question is not sure who I would vote for, I tend to read the manifestos and then decide from there. Usually vote LibDem but I’m not so sure on them now as they keep u turning on things (especially in the local issues)

Limitedsimba123 · 26/09/2019 19:58

Agree Smemorata, and that isn’t even the worst part, they are threatening to abolish the independent Judiciary so they can’t rule against them again. No Tory voters seem concerned about this though.

ElleDubloo · 26/09/2019 19:59

Lib Dems

Voted Tory last time because we’d just bought a house and my Dad commented that makes us middle class so we should vote Tory. Then all this shit happened. Now Lib Dems all the way.

Idontwanttotalk · 26/09/2019 20:00

Conservative party.

TheTrollFairy · 26/09/2019 20:00

not sure if they are aware he binned the domestic abuse bill
Where did you read this? A quick google search shows that they are looking to update it?

Idontwanttotalk · 26/09/2019 20:04

"Voted Tory last time because we’d just bought a house and my Dad commented that makes us middle class so we should vote Tory."
Most of the Labour party are middle class. In fact, aren't most politicians middle class? Grin

Actionhasmagic · 26/09/2019 20:04

It was on grazia online. Years of hard work down the pan because of the proroguation. I felt very upset about it. Hope they can bring it back.

Iggly · 26/09/2019 20:07

Never the Tories. They’ve messed up the long term prospects of too many generations.

I actually might vote labour because they’re the only ones who’ve a chance to turf out our Tory MP.

GingersAreLush · 26/09/2019 20:08

Wouldn’t vote Tory if my life depended on it. I usually vote Labour and probably will again even though I don’t like Corbyn, I do like my own MP and my previous 2 (all are Labour).

onalongsabbatical · 26/09/2019 20:08

Lib Dem.
Is anyone aware of Rachel Johnson's comments re her brother on R4 this lunchtime?
I have never heard anyone so close to coming out and saying I love my brother but I think he's an utterly disruptive selfish ruthless bastard. World at One, from 17 minutes into the prog to 20 minutes approx. Give it a very careful listen or three.

Idontwanttotalk · 26/09/2019 20:09

"Can’t believe some women would actually be dumb enough to vote for bojo - not sure if they are aware he binned the domestic abuse bill"
Next week's programme was read out by JR-M today and it includes the 2nd reading of the domestic abuse bill. He specifically said in response to questions later that it is a particularly important bill to get passed.

Iggly · 26/09/2019 20:10

Is anyone aware of Rachel Johnson's comments re her brother on R4 this lunchtime?

Yes, it’s pretty damning to have your own family effectively denounce you.

AlexaShutUp · 26/09/2019 20:10

Green or lib dem. Probably green.

Schwibble · 26/09/2019 20:12

Green or possibly Labour.
