General Election tomorrow question

bridgetreilly · 26/09/2019 19:32

So, I did the MN survey and was a bit stumped by the question about who I would vote for if there was an election tomorrow. Like, at the moment, it's hard to remember whether we've still got a government from one day to the next. I know who I normally vote for but right now? Who knows! I'm not sure the results from that question will be all that representative of Mumsnetters normal political preferences.

LibDem, despite their position on women, because a strong anti Brexit vote is more important right now.

Iggly · 26/09/2019 22:15

Rather posh arseholes, than Anti-Semitic, misogynistic, terrorist sympathisers

The current Tory government continues to sell weapons to Saudi Arabia.

They’re massively racist - look at the islamophobia issues

And as for misogyny- where to begin 😂

CendrillonSings · 26/09/2019 22:15

Do you know what Marxism is?

If we wanted to find out, we’d vote Labour! Grin

madamedesevigne · 26/09/2019 22:16

Labour 100%. Their policies sound great to me and I think their Brexit policy is the best possible. I’m also impressed by their policy on animal welfare, which is very important to me.

Outsomnia · 26/09/2019 22:16

Maybe voters hanker after a middle ground consensus party which will steer a path for those who have no truck with Momentum or the ERG. And will reflect the views of those who do not subscribe to the vitriol of hard Left or hard Right .

Is that possible? Well it is certainly needed now IMO.

ViaSacra · 26/09/2019 22:18

Lib Dem.

Used to be a firm Tory voter, but switched in 2017.

Right now, I can’t see myself ever voting Tory again.

Iggly · 26/09/2019 22:20

youve been fed a line about Marxism - no doubt from snippets on twitter and some such.

Why not actually do some proper reading about politics and economics and educate yourself?

I’m so fed up of people being lazy and not taking responsibility for finding out what things mean.

I’m not Tory voter but I thought I’d find out wtf it’s about and have bought books on conservatism. It’s my future and my children’s future at stake and I’ll be damned if I take soundbites as my source of knowledge.

Iggly · 26/09/2019 22:21

The labour Brexit policy is actually quite sensible. Brexit isn’t the only thing we need to choose our government on - so let people decide on that via a referendum. Makes sense.

SeaWitchly · 26/09/2019 22:26

Labour 100%. I can’t for the life of me understand why anyone would vote Tory.

SeaWitchly · 26/09/2019 22:27

Oh and voting Labour because of Jeremy Corbyn not in spite of.

Ellie56 · 26/09/2019 22:31

Whoever is most likely to unseat the Tory candidate.

BMW6 · 26/09/2019 22:31

Conservative

tequilasunrises · 26/09/2019 22:35

Either Labour or Lib Dem, but my constituentcy is life long Blue so I doubt it will make a scrap of difference.

The Conservatives are rotten to their core and it frightens me.

Yabbers · 26/09/2019 22:44

Corbyn.

And I hate him, would never have seen any situation where I would vote for him. But Boris needs to go, he is a major risk to the country right now. Corbyn would be bad, but Boris is going to take us off a cliff, for his own political gain.

everythingisginandroses · 26/09/2019 22:44

Labour, of course.

Yabbers · 26/09/2019 22:46

Although, seeing how many are saying Lib Dem, maybe I’d do that. Only if they would coalition with labour though.

TheSandman · 26/09/2019 22:48

SNP

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 26/09/2019 22:48

Next week's programme was read out by JR-M today and it includes the 2nd reading of the domestic abuse bill. He specifically said in response to questions later that it is a particularly important bill to get passed.

Only because the Supreme Court voided the prorogation of Parliament. Prorogation killed the bill after the government chose not to carry it over.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 26/09/2019 22:52

Cut & paste failure.

The DV bill is only having it’s second reading because of the Supreme court’s ruling. The current government killed it with prorogation.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/09/2019 22:55

Honestly not sure, but I can't not vote so it might have to be Conservative this time

I don't like it at all, but I'd vote for almost anyone to keep Corbyn/McDonnell out, and the Libs, Greens and all the rest are really an irrelevance who just serve to split the vote

LittleAndOften · 26/09/2019 22:57

I'd dearly love to know at what point staunch Tory voters WOULD draw the line. What do your party need to do to put you off?

In my true blue area I'd vote whoever looked most likely to present the strongest opposition. Judging by the local council elections it would be Lib Dem.

bbciii · 26/09/2019 22:58

Tory. Every time.

CendrillonSings · 26/09/2019 22:59

Confiscate property, ban private schools, behave like a bunch of loony Marxists Wink

birdandroses · 26/09/2019 22:59

I don’t want Boris and no deal and as my Lib Dem candidate hasn’t a chance where I live, I will vote Labour.

GinUnicorn · 26/09/2019 23:01

Lib Dem
