To think that sensible conservatives will not be able to vote for boris after his recent behaviour?

Really? After lying and shutting down democracy and his disgusting performance in parliament today. Surely you can’t vote conservative now unless you’re a very small demographic that they are seemingly targeting. Surely they will lose much of their core vote now . Most folk who vote conservative aren’t are decent, law abiding people. Boris Johnson’s behaviour surely offends the majority?

As others have said, the whole thing is utterly depressing.
Boris Johnson is a self serving ‘politician ‘ who really couldn’t give a stuff about the effects of a no deal .
I think what I really dislike about Boris Johnson is that he has little conviction. He just says what he thinks his supporters want him to say

Trewser · 26/09/2019 08:37

And again, rplace Johnson with Corbyn. Same thing.

Kazzyhoward · 26/09/2019 08:39

Same goes for Corbyn, except with him, he just says what the his union paymasters want him to say!

hairtoss · 26/09/2019 08:42

Unfortunate Britain is full of people who would, and will vote for the English Version of Donald Trump >>>> Boris Johnston.

Young people need to get out and vote, it's the only chance we have of getting BJ out.

I agree Corbyn is not a good leader, I find him very disappointing, but the UK is heading into madness, the lunatics have taken over.

Trewser · 26/09/2019 08:43

Johnson is nothing like Trump and its such a boring lazy comparison!

familycourtq · 26/09/2019 08:49

So could lib dems win?
No chance due to FPTP

KatnissMellark · 26/09/2019 08:50

I'm a moderate. Swing voter. Have voted Conservative, Lib Dem and Independent in the past. More than open to voting Labour, but not now,and never with Corbyn at the helm. In fact, there is no one I want to vote for right now.

Where have all the moderates gone?!?

Trewser · 26/09/2019 08:51

Lib dems failure to recognise women as a biological sex means i will not vote for them. Almost certainly would have otherwise. So it'll be Tory for me. Happy days Sad

Trewser · 26/09/2019 08:52

I'm a Blairite. Voted Labour under Blair and would again if it was more centrist.

53rdWay · 26/09/2019 08:53

Why do people think Boris is the only one trying to make sure we leave the EU?

He voted against Theresa May’s deal.

He isn’t trying to get a deal now.

He STILL isn’t trying to get a deal, despite now being bound by legislation that’ll make him ask for an extension if he doesn’t get one.

He doesn’t seem to be trying very hard to do anything. Except make himself immune from scrutiny.

familycourtq · 26/09/2019 08:56

Ami leavers blocked May’s deal
I don't know where this lie started but it keeps getting repeated for some reason. The May deal was scuppered by a combination of Leave and Remain MPs - but if remainers hadn't voted against it (including the Lib Dems) it would have passed, so it's simply incorrect to say the deal was killed by Leavers - it really wasn't.

familycourtq · 26/09/2019 09:00

I still don't understand why anyone votes Tory in the first place. Part of me considers anyone who does heartless
^ This. I get it that millionaires and hedge funders and trustafarians vote Tory (if they are very selfish) but I can't see any merit for an average person. Unfortunately so many people seem to think they Alan Sugar despite all evidence to the contrary.

familycourtq · 26/09/2019 09:02

Tory Lite.

AngelicInnocent · 26/09/2019 09:02

I think people are deluding themselves.

I live in a Labour stronghold. It's also an area that voted leave by a large majority. Nobody here will vote Tory so at the next election it is going to become a Brexit party seat and if Boris gets anywhere near a majority, the Brexit party will join him.

Whether you agree with them or not, a huge part of the population wants to leave and will vote for their best chance of that. The anger at the MPs preventing it, is very real.

thebakerwithboobs · 26/09/2019 09:03

It pains me to write this, but I won't be able to vote. I can't vote for the shower of shit that is the conservatives, Labour are collapsing and their newly announced policies around everything from Ofsted to the working week are frankly ridiculous-I keep waiting for their 'free unicorn for all!' announcement. Jo Swinson was looking great until she actually got the top job and now she is treating the leave part of the electorate (of which I am not a part but entirely respect) with compete contempt-she doesn't even try to hide it. I'm left with the Greens who, well meaning though they are, know nothing about anything to speak of and Nigel Farage's hideousness. I've always said 'if you don't vote you can't complain about the government' but I just can't see a way for me to cast my vote with integrity. Shameful.

leckford · 26/09/2019 09:05

Labour have no chance is being elected. Not only has their leader got a minus 60% approval rating the comrades have voted to allow mass immigration of anyone from anywhere even if they can’t read and write. Because the U.K. has 500 MILLION empty council houses going spare?!

Turningtides · 26/09/2019 09:08

I live in a Conservative yet strong Remain Borough in a London where finding a Brexiteer is like looking for a needle in a haystack. You can feel a seismic shift towards the LDs. BJ and his hardline Brexiteer cabinet have alienated the core moderate Conservative voters. People are absolutely appalled. They see right through the populist soundbites. Basically, he has reduced the party to the level of the Brexit Party - to exploit the lowest denominators of society. I hope his days are numbered and I suspect they are.

The LDs will win here for sure, but if it was a marginal Labour seat, I would actually vote Labour rather than the Conservatives. It comes to something when people I know, (banker friends of DH etc), would actually rather vote for a Marxist because the Conservatives have turned so toxic and sickening. We are realising that Brexit is a symptom of division and people feeling alienated for so long and maybe we need a radical shake up. Even if this means VAT on school fees, mega tax or whatever, things can’t go on like this. It’s a sick society now sadly, and it affects us all.

Gruzinkerbell1 · 26/09/2019 09:10

I would never ever vote for Labour with Corbyn in charge. He has destroyed that party.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 26/09/2019 09:12

thebaker

Vote Monster Raving Looney

You will have done your democratic duty to vote and quite honestly after seeing the braying chaos in Parliament yesterday voting for someone dressed as a dayglo daffodil with a banana in the ear feels like quite a rational thing to do.

Johnson is nothing like Trump and its such a boring lazy comparison!

Why do you think Trump shows such support for Johnson?

However, i do agree, Johnson is far worse than Trump, Trump has to operate within a written constitution, Johnson does not, he only has the courts to limit him and once he gets back in, he'll change that.

...and no BJ isn't like Hitler but he is playing to the mob and its fears, just as all populists do.

Corbyn needs to step aside asap, he is completely unelectable, he now only has to sneeze and the MSM would say he is planning to infect the UK with spanish flu and we'd all believe it.

jasjas1973 · 26/09/2019 09:17

Turningtides really hope you are right.

Trewser · 26/09/2019 09:19

That's what they say! Bankers won't vote Labour when it comes down to it.

Everanewbie · 26/09/2019 09:22

TheGoogleMum familycourtq not here to argue or disagree with you. Conservative (albeit reluctantly in todays climate) voter comes in peace! I just wanted to refer you to an interesting book that i recently read:

The Righteous Mind: Why Good People are Divided by Politics and Religion

It is quite enlightening. Coming from a centre-right economical position myself, it helped me understand the position held by people on the left side of the spectrum. Not necessarily agree, but understand.

Not many, if any at all on the right want to kill off the poor or see them suffer, its just that they have a higher sensitivity to perceived fairness. On the left, people see that fairness as seeing that everyone receives the same treatment and lifestyle. As is often the case, the real best answer is probably somewhere in the middle. That is why a democracy with a strong left and a strong right is important. No side should go too far.

Dyrne · 26/09/2019 09:30

Trewser I don’t understand - you say that you refuse to vote Lib Dem because of their habit of throwing women under the bus, but the conservatives are just as gleefully and happily doing the exact same? Just look at Penny M’s abysmal showing at the last “Webchat”...
