To hate "going for a walk?"

I wish I didn't but I just find it so boring! Walking around the same streets, passing the same lamp posts and houses. We live in a fairly decent area and have two lovely dogs. DH walks the dogs twice a day and absolutely loves it but I just find walking so tedious. I wish I didn't hate it as its great to get out and get fresh air etc but I find it such a chore. Anyone else feel the same?

I love going for a walk!

TheMustressMhor · 23/09/2019 19:44

I agree with you OP.

Walking is very over-rated IMHO.

britnay · 23/09/2019 19:44

Listening to music helps :) Get Spotify or something on your phone :)

dudsville · 23/09/2019 19:45

I love it. I ellipses happily take agn evening stroll if oh would join me!

WhenYouCantRunYouCrawl · 23/09/2019 19:45

I love going for a walk but then I live in the Lake District.

Can you drive the dogs somewhere different for a walk?

Ginger1982 · 23/09/2019 19:45

YABU. When we had a dog and I was a SAHM the minute DH got home I was desperate to take the dog for a walk just to get a moment's peace!

Cornettoninja · 23/09/2019 19:45

Podcasts or music help at all? I would use it as a chance to listen to one of my podcasts or radio 4. I’m increasingly an old gimmer though!

Bluebell878275 · 23/09/2019 19:47

I only enjoy a walk if there's a pub at the end of it.

Jupiters · 23/09/2019 19:48

I can see where you're coming from. I like going out for an evening stroll but it does get very boring doing the same route each time.

Crazyladee · 23/09/2019 19:49

I've tried music and also getting in the car to get to a different starting point.

Wish I could change how I feel about it!

I like a walk. I live in a city and like looking at houses and strolling around the park.

Do you hate actual walking, like in the lakes? I love a proper walk.

minipie · 23/09/2019 19:49

I like going for a walk if I have company to chat to or if it’s around a new and interesting area. Otherwise, no. I might enjoy it with a podcast or audiobook I suppose.

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 23/09/2019 19:50

I like a walk although I get bored of doing the same routes all the time so have to vary it.

madcatladyforever · 23/09/2019 19:51

If its just round the block then yes it is boring, I drive then walk so it's different. I'd go nuts walking dogs round the same block all the time.

doublesheesh · 23/09/2019 19:52

Oh hallelujah, people who feel like I do. I completely agree. Even in the woods I find it tedious. I don't mind walking to get somewhere or exploring a new city or along a beach. But anything else is so so incredibly B-O-R-I-N-G.

Catmar · 23/09/2019 19:52

I love walking, either alone or with company. @Bluebell878275 is right though, a pub along the way makes it better, or Brew and Cake. Grin

june2007 · 23/09/2019 19:55

Can you change the route? Go to a wood, a park, the country? I understand a regular walking route isn't that exciting. But it's what we do as responsible dog owners isn't it.

Cloudyyy · 23/09/2019 19:56

I find this as strange as when people say they don’t like drinking water! Cannot understand it at all!!

Shockers · 23/09/2019 19:57

I’d do anything to be able to go for a walk- I’m waiting for hip replacement surgery and it’s just too painful at the moment. I love walking Sad.

PrincessSarene · 23/09/2019 19:58

I like going for a walk (well, I do when I’m not 30 weeks pregnant anyway!) but only in rural areas. I just don’t get the same enjoyment from wandering around an urban environment. The only exception to that is when the Christmas lights are up, then I quite like going to see the displays.

BillywilliamV · 23/09/2019 19:58

Radio 4 IPlayer app on head phones, works for me!

Newsheet · 23/09/2019 19:58

Love walking

Average about 15 miles a day and can easily do 30 on a sunday

Oysterbabe · 23/09/2019 19:59

Yanbu. Whenever I go to the Inlaws I get dragged out on a walk like a fucking dog. I swear they sent me into early labour by making me hike up a massive hill.

Fairylea · 23/09/2019 19:59

Download the Active 10 app and it will spur you on to want to walk more briskly to reach your 3 x 10 a day goal. I find it really helps me - that and music.

BerylReader · 23/09/2019 19:59

Depends what time. If it’s getting dusk have a good old nose in peoples houses if they’ve got their lights on but curtains still open. You can get some good ideas!
