For asking to be called they/them?

OP posts:
OldCrone · 18/09/2019 18:11

Not in the sense that if a trans person identifies as the opposite sex they are wrong?

How do you identify as something you are not? Why should anyone else care or pay attention to this if you do?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/09/2019 18:12

I have seen ‘people’ in the newspapers who have variously identified as an alien, a snake, a parrot and a cat.

RosesAndRaindrops · 18/09/2019 18:13

What's everyone's problem?? This has nothing to do with death rates etc

These threads always go the same way, death rates etc,.... as you say it's about non binary and Sam Smith but you can bet it always gets brought back onto the wheel of bonkerness that they always turns into if anyone dares to say anything different to "non binary, trans, blah, load of rubbish, ha ha who they kidding?!"Attention seeking or wot!" type thing! Grin
Thread carnage ensues I'm at WTF stage now lol

So tizzy. How do I determine my gender?

And what has it got to do with sex, seeing as we have established it's not possible to change sex.

RosesAndRaindrops · 18/09/2019 18:14

We're going down the transspecies route now?
Ookay, thread hasn't reached there yet took a while for once, usually earlier than page 29!

@RosesAndRaindrops I have agree! I accept anyone and everyone but I feel this is just attention seeking! I don't want to be called this and I want this? Who cares? Just get on we ya life stop making a song and dance about it all jees 😂😂😂

testing987654321 · 18/09/2019 18:20

I assume roses is incapable of seeing the analogy.

It's that if a person makes an extraordinary claim "a man says he is a woman" many people would consider that as delusional as "a man says he is a snake".

Both are physical characteristics that you don't choose. A man lopping his penis off doesn't make him a woman. It makes him a mutilated man.

RuffleCrow · 18/09/2019 18:21

Isn't they just perhaps carrying residual internalised homophobia and thinks they've found a golden ticket to not being a gay man anymore? And why should i have to make my sentences ungrammatical nonsense to appease them? I identify as someone with a coherent grasp of the English language - why is this identity being deliberately erased?

It's easier to erase women as a class/sex/identity than it is for men to confront each other with their own internalised issues/toxicity. Until men face up to that and a fair few handmaidens don't get swallowed up in the 'wokeness' we're all going to suffer.

No, I'm not incapable of seeing at all as I realise you'll be coming at it from your experience and viewpoint, which is presumably that a man can be a woman as much as they can be a cat for example....
Me though, I'm coming at it from a different point of view and my experience in that I do have that inate sense of female, I appreciate not everyone does though...but we're a completely different species to a cat or a dog, so how do we feel like one of those?
Oh and no I don't know how to fix that for sex based spaces before I get asked.
I just know for me, there's more to it than just what's between my legs.
I presume it's the same for trans and non binary people as well which is why I'm willing and able to see from the other "side" so to speak.
Even though non binary does make me think how can you be a mixture of both? maybe it is like that for some.
I'm not them.

Putyourdamnshoeson · 18/09/2019 18:33

Yanbu

testing987654321 · 18/09/2019 18:36

Roses, what is your innate sense of female? How do you experience it?

testing987654321 · 18/09/2019 18:38

And why would anyone think having certain feelings would override physical reality? So a man who feels female would be a feminine man.

GracefulHare · 18/09/2019 18:38

YANBU. They've been an arse but they've got themselves talked about! It's the limit of my understanding I'm afraid. He or she, needs to make their mind up or shut it.

Transwomen aren't biologically women. Doesn't mean they're all automatically never any women at all though.

What?

VladmirsPoutine · 18/09/2019 18:45

There's no such a concept as 'pregnant people'. I am not 'cis'. I don't know what it 'feels' like to be a woman. I just AM.

It's horrifying how much the idea has already taken hold that using the word WOMAN is somehow exclusionary or indeed a dirty word. All to appease a subset of men . These men actually need to consult with other men to resolve issues in their community but it's easier to make it our problem instead. Another triumph of the patriarchy.

That women have to again suffer at the hands of men, despite being considered second class citizens anyway. We now can't even call ourselves women.

Apparently a man gave birth. Interestingly enough they failed to mention that this medical marvel happened to be a woman that transitioned to identifying as a man. Men can give birth!? Heaven forbid... do they also have their careers impacted by caring duties. Are we all supposed to be so concerned about transwomen who are killed yet haven't done a single thing to address male violence towards women?

Men have really done a number on us. Now it's a problem to even use the word WOMAN. We are 'uterus havers' some of us even 'menstruators'.

yellowallpaper · 18/09/2019 18:45

Love his music but think he is a bit of a drama queen

Sorry if that's sexist Blush

OldCrone · 18/09/2019 18:46

I think you've said you're female, so you're describing feeling that you are what you are (female) and comparing it to feeling like something you are not.

If you, as a woman, said you 'felt like' a man, I would view it as just as impossible as saying that you felt like a cat. You don't know what it feels like to be a man any more than you know what it feels like to be a cat.

zafferana · 18/09/2019 18:46

Of course trans-women have a male view - they're men! Whatever they think being a woman is, it's not what they think. The fact that they're all so eager to be women in the first place shows their ignorance, quite honestly.
