I have lived in my house for ten years. My neighbour has never once opened his windows or curtains in that time. Other neighbours in the street who have lived here for 20 years say he hasn’t opened them since they lived here either. He is a middle aged male lives alone, comes and goes to work each day, says hello if he sees me, not enough to make conversation. He keeps to himself, He rarely has any visitors but when he does he speaks to them outside and never invites anyone in. It’s all very strange and weird, anyone else ever known anyone like this? Would you do anything

Like what?!!!

MsVestibule · 13/09/2019 20:53

What are you actually concerned about?

Travis1 · 13/09/2019 20:54

What are you going to do? I mean really? What difference does it make to your life? Nosey neighbours are probably why he keeps them closed. I certainly know that’s why we started closing our kitchen blinds. Nosey mare next door was having a good look in every time she walked past.

formerbabe · 13/09/2019 20:54

Would you do anything

Confused. Like what?

saraclara · 13/09/2019 20:56

Sounds like the perfect neighbour. Quiet and unobtrusive.

Singlenotsingle · 13/09/2019 20:56

I can't see the problem. He keeps himself to himself, doesn't cause any problems, no noise... The perfect neighbour.

abbey44 · 13/09/2019 20:57

However odd it may seem to you, it's his life, his choice. He's clearly living it the way he wants to and the way it suits him. Why do you think you should do anything?? That's the strange thing...

Deyes999 · 13/09/2019 20:58

I am not a nosey neighbour but after 10 years living next door I have obviously noticed he has never ever opened a window or curtain, I just think it’s very weird

CustardySergeant · 13/09/2019 20:59

Why on earth do you imagine anything needs to be done? What might that thing even be? What a bizarre thread.

formerbabe · 13/09/2019 21:00

I just think it’s very weird

Well maybe but it's none of your business...

Foslady · 13/09/2019 21:00

My neighbour doesn’t either. She’s a very private person and I respect that. She knows that if she needs me I’m here

hazel67 · 13/09/2019 21:01

With stuff like this it makes me I wonder what our neighbours must say about us!
We keep our curtains on windows looking into the street closed all the time. The reason is because our dog goes mental whenever she sees someone walk by so it's easier just to keep them shut. We have windows on the other side of the room that have the curtains open but you can't see it from the street.

Honestly wondering what you think he could be hiding behind his closed curtains!

DrizzleKicks · 13/09/2019 21:01

That is odd.

Maybe he has a rubber duck collection he doesn't want on show.

or that's where he keeps the bodies

Deyes999 · 13/09/2019 21:02

Okay maybe I didn’t really mean it like that I am not going to do anything or I would have by now, I just wanted to know how others would react to having a neighbour like that, I suppose just ignore how odd it is is the only thing one can do

OP posts:
BrutusMcDogface · 13/09/2019 21:02

Maybe he’s a hoarder.

Maybe it’s none of your business.

FloydWasACat · 13/09/2019 21:02

Hmm...sorry, what? Why is this an issue?

Mummyshark2018 · 13/09/2019 21:02

Sounds like the type of neighbour I'd want! Unless he's tried to touch up my kids or other kids I'd let him live quietly!

NotGreatBob · 13/09/2019 21:02

He’s a reverse vampire, obviously.

Heartburn888 · 13/09/2019 21:03

He might be a hoarder and is ashamed of his living space. Leave him to it.

HerRoyalNotness · 13/09/2019 21:03

You’ll be the neighbour interviewed in the paper that says “we didn’t suspect anything, he was so quiet and kept to himself”

summersherewishiwasnt · 13/09/2019 21:04

You do know your neighbor hasn’t committed a crime by not ensuring someone sees their curtains or windows are open don’t you.
It’s weird it has taken you 10 years to question it and is clearly by your own standards not a pressing concern.

PawPawNoodle · 13/09/2019 21:05

@Deyes999 I am not a nosey neighbour

You bloody well are. The poor man has been scrutinised and judged by his neighbours for ten years just because he hasn't invited you lot round to snoop through his home.

madcatladyforever · 13/09/2019 21:05

My old neighbour was like that. Always windows and curtains closed. He was a proper twat though and would hammer on the wall if you hoovered during the day. He lived there like a hermit for years and the surprised us all by going off to live with a woman.

Windydaysuponus · 13/09/2019 21:05

Maybe he has lost the window key?

Cheeserton · 13/09/2019 21:08

Would you do anything
Yeah. I'd leave him the fuck alone and get on with my own business.
