Just been released

assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/831199/20190802_Latest_Yellowhammer_Planning_assumptions_CDL.pdf

And I wonder what Number 15 is. It's been redacted.

So much to highlight:

Impact of food and fuel prices on poorer people.
Impact exacerbated due to winter flu issues at that time of year
Lorries delayed and flow reduced to 40 - 60%

And I'm only on page 1

I'm just glad we have a strong and stable government, imagine the chaos with the other lot in....

This is sarcasm, right?!

Throckmorton · 11/09/2019 21:31

Grim innit

percheron67 · 11/09/2019 21:32

If lorries are to be delayed what about the impact this will have on any live animals being transported?

Unescorted · 11/09/2019 21:32

Chloemol might and may is civil service speak for "it is the most likely outcome" . If it is unlikely (less than 50% chance) they say it is a remote possibility, in the unlikely event, it can be discounted that, the following has been considered, but...

chomalungma · 11/09/2019 21:34

This is not the full document.
It's really badly presented. Just like someone has scanned it quickly.

OP posts:
MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 11/09/2019 21:34

If you read it there’s lots of may and could. No one will know until it happens what the actual impact will be

Fuck sake.

When are you Leavers just going to admit that you got it wrong? Go on. Just try it. You'll feel better.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/09/2019 21:35

YANBU

ThePallidBustOfPallas · 11/09/2019 21:35

I suppose it's one glimmer of hope - a sliver really - that's there only one person on this thread trying to make this out to be 'not as bad as it looks' ' might not be that bad' 'don't know until it happens'.
Still fucking depressing though. What do you have to do to get through to people like that? Let their loved ones die in the fucking streets through lack of meds or the civil unrest that will surely follow?

PegHughes · 11/09/2019 21:36

If you read it there’s lots of may and could. No one will know until it happens what the actual impact will be.

Even if this was only a remote possibility whyever would you risk it?
It is not the business of a government to put a population at risk, however minute the risk, unless it is unavoidable.

Theworldisfullofgs · 11/09/2019 21:36

TellMeWhoTheVilliansAre

Vote leave purposefully didnt have a plan as they knew noone would vote for it. (Actually they tried for 10 years but they were all shit and deleted them all from the internet just before campaign. Ex leaver Roland Smith wrote about it).

The govt remain campaign alluded to it but it was called project fear. It was a really bad run campaign and they were complacent because they thought noone in the right mind would vote for it.

catx1606 · 11/09/2019 21:37

This is worst case scenario. This is what could happen, doesn't mean it will. Everyone should always prepare for the worst and hope for the best on any situation

chomalungma · 11/09/2019 21:37

Social care is already struggling in this country. The review has been put off for ages. This just looks like it's going to be fucked.

There is a way we could avoid this......

ConfusedBear · 11/09/2019 21:38

For balance what's the base case scenario for revoking look like?

I'd like to compare the two.

ContinuityError · 11/09/2019 21:38

I am shocked at the brevity of this document

This will just be the exec summary.

If it’s not, then (a) the Cabinet are a bunch of fuckwits that can’t deal with proper data and risk assessments, or (b) we’re fucked.

ChocChocButtons · 11/09/2019 21:39

Scaremongering propaganda ignore it.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 11/09/2019 21:39

This is worst case scenario

Actually, it appears this is probably the base scenario - ie: the expected result of no deal. Even the BBC are pointing this out.

WaterSheep · 11/09/2019 21:40

This is worst case scenario.

No this is the starting point. It is in no way the worst case scenario, it could actually be much much worse than this.

maggiecate · 11/09/2019 21:40

The Road Hauliers Association, the British Retail Consortium, trade bodies across multiple sectors, CEOs, the TUC, the BMA have been screaming this stuff for the last three years. The PSNI have been warning about the security situation there. And Boris and co have been saying its all just project fear. So who does benefit from no deal?

yolofish · 11/09/2019 21:40

Gosh I'm totes full of optimism on reading that little document which is supposed to cover all eventualities... I've done more analysis on a fucking press campaign ffs!

chomalungma · 11/09/2019 21:40

Even the BBC are pointing this out

Looking forward to forensic questioning by John Humphreys on the Today programme.

Deathgrip · 11/09/2019 21:40

THIS IS NOT THE WORST CASE SCENARIO

Seems some people are missing this point

Wallywobbles · 11/09/2019 21:41

Wants going to happen with live animal transport? The 1000s of lambs, calves and horses that cross the channel annually? The British horse racing industry must be in a cold sweat too. Does anyone know what plans there are?

randomchap · 11/09/2019 21:41

This document is dated August.

"Certain types of fresh food supply will decrease. Critical elements of the food supply chain (such as ingredients, chemicals and packaging) may be in short supply. In combination, these two factors will not cause an overall shortage of food in the UK but will reduce availability and choice and increase the price, which will affect vulnerable groups"

In September, Michael Gove the minister in charge of no deal brexit planning claimed that some food prices would go down, but some may go up and that there should be no shortage of fresh food.
inews.co.uk/news/brexit/no-deal-brexit-food-prices-increase-michael-gove/

This contradicts the Yellowhammer planning document. This could mean that Gove lied, or hadn't read the document, or mis-understood it.

Pahahaha. As if.
