Just been released

assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/831199/20190802_Latest_Yellowhammer_Planning_assumptions_CDL.pdf

And I wonder what Number 15 is. It's been redacted.

So much to highlight:

Impact of food and fuel prices on poorer people.
Impact exacerbated due to winter flu issues at that time of year
Lorries delayed and flow reduced to 40 - 60%

And I'm only on page 1

The main thing to keep in mind is this: Brexit is a heist. It's a criminal conspiracy by a handful of tax-dodging billionaires to enrich themselves. They have no proper plans for managing the UK's departure from the EU because they don't care what happens to other people. They don't have to care, because they won't be going short of food or medicine or anything else they might want.

I don't think there is an acceptable deal due the Irish border issue.
Unless the UK is ready to give up on Northern Ireland territory. It will never happen

Done deal in the view of Tory membership.

Says it all Groucho!

Not al all surprised to see they don't give a fuck about potential demise of the U.K. As a Scot.

Vivianebrookskoviak · 14/09/2019 00:11

Wow. I remember the petrol crisis,I think we were something like 48 hours from a meltdown when it was called off.

All of this should have been drawn up years ago before the vote in the first place.

The fact it's been drawn up with less than 6 months before makes me think they have absolutely no clue.

As to the adverts saying 'Get Ready!' from what I've seen on one social media page people have clicked through and the link hasn't worked. Pretty much sums it all up.

To think whose shoulders ultimately our only hope rest on.... facepalm and shakes head! Hmm

HerSymphonyAndSong · 14/09/2019 05:01

What a shit analogy that car insurance thing is. It would only be remotely similar if at the same time you threatened to burn your car and your neighbour’s car to a crisp if they didn’t give you a deal. No deal is nonsense as a “bargaining chip” with the EU27. It is immoral to “keep it on the table” when it is so harmful to the people of your and other nations. leavers have absorbed such nasty adversarial attitudes towards the EU27 from the leave camp - it didn’t need to be that way and conveniently forgets that WE ARE THE EU TOO, it’s never been “us and them” except for those who want to divide us and make money from it

Jasmin82 · 14/09/2019 06:12

The UK's current negotiating strategy is similar to walking into a shoe shop, pointing a gun at your foot and saying that, unless they give you a brand not sold by the shop, you will shoot your foot.
We have a government that says they are negotiating when they aren't. Not that there's any point because 3 years down the line, no one in government can decide exactly what kind of Brexit we want.
You then have Steve Barclay (Brexit minister) saying "Two thirds of the medicines Ireland gets come through UK. If there are shortages in the UK, there'll be shortages in Ireland." So that's OK then, if we go down, we'll take Ireland with us!
This government is so incompetent and lacking conviction that they change a base scenario report to a worst case scenario report and hope that no one notices. Conveniently forgetting that the document in question had already been leaked and it was known to be a base scenario report.
A government that has so much contempt for democratic process in the UK that they prorogue parliament under the guise of it being to prepare the Queen's speech, only for the government response to a petition against the prorogation to not only admit it was about Brexit but then read like an election broadcast!
And people still seriously believe that this government can be trusted with ANY kind of Brexit?

WaterSheep · 14/09/2019 07:11

The sad thing is it's actually worked. So many on this thread have parroted that it's the wort case scenario, yet when presented with the facts they go eerily silent.

When will these ostriches remove their heads from the sand? Sad

WaterSheep · 14/09/2019 07:23

worst not wort.

LynseyLou1982 · 14/09/2019 07:24

I'm reading these comments watching my 18 month old son eating his breakfast. I'm looking at him and wondering that if this all plays out like they think it will in this document what the hell kind of future is he going to grow up in? I hope the leavers realise what an absolute mess we're in.

Iggly · 14/09/2019 07:40

Given that Leavers couldn’t even agree on what terms leaving should be done, it’s a bit rich for people to claim that they wanted no deal.

I don’t think these people can truly fathom the world getting worse. Because it hasn’t happened to them. Classic case of empathy fail.

Songsofexperience · 14/09/2019 08:05

Brexit is a heist by the true elite.
Stick that on the side of a bus and tour the country with it.
Also print it on a 10ft high banner to leave outside number 10 until the sorry mess is dealt with.

onegiftedgal · 14/09/2019 08:17

Regarding the medicines coming in via Dover, I know what it's like at the moment, living in the area and we have been in 'operation brock' (Brexit block) mode since February 2019 when we thought it was going to be done and dusted in March.
The news doesn't report how bad the stacks and tailbacks are down here right now. Yes it will be worse for a while after Brexit but down here, we can't wait for it to come.
300 immigrants crossing the channel DAILY and this has been at least for the last 2 years. People dying in the channel, dying in the tunnel trying to cross. You are not aware of the death toll and Brexit needs to happen fast.

eople dying in the channel, dying in the tunnel trying to cross. You are not aware of the death toll and Brexit needs to happen fast

How will Brexit stop that?

Will people suddenly stop trying to cross?

OP posts:
WaterSheep · 14/09/2019 08:41

Yes it will be worse for a while after Brexit

A while?

Just how long are you happy with things being worse for? 1 year, 5 years or at least 50 years as predicted by JRM...

Notonthestairs · 14/09/2019 08:48

Onegiftedgal your message reads like you only think Kent will be affected!
What about Northern Ireland? What about those people on medications? what about the food and fuel prices rises and shortages?
Yellowhammer is only 6 pages long - it is worth reading.

chomalungma · 14/09/2019 08:49

The news doesn't report how bad the stacks and tailbacks are down here right now

That's really strange - given I was down there a few weeks ago and there were no massive tailbacks, no stacking operations.

The thing about making such claims is that people can easily check them themselves.

300 immigrants crossing the channel DAILY and this has been at least for the last 2 years

Again - look at the data

I am as unsure about your definition of a hard border as I am about your facts.

How will Brexit stop what are already illegal immigrants, they should have applied at point of entry to EU.
Actually after Brexit these people will be entering a new zone, hence will able to apply for refugee status.
Illegal immigration may well get worse.

Iggly · 14/09/2019 08:50

That’s because the world is a shit place. People are dying because of wars which are in our making or can be traced back to British Empire meddling. We’ve got a lot to answer for.

The global economy is incredibly imbalanced. It’s not surprise people want to move somewhere better.

Imagine facing such fear that you’re prepared to put the life of your children at risk to cross land and oceans? I’m grateful that that isn’t a choice I have to face and I’d rather not shut the doors.

I’d actually rather our governments worked fucking harder to bring peace and to stop selling weapons to kill other human beings.

Immigrants are human beings. Like all human beings, you get some bad ones but they’re human beings.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/09/2019 09:02

Brexit won't make the tiniest bit of difference to Refugees hoping to join family here. It does nothing to solve the wars, conflict and persecution in their own countries.

bellinisurge · 14/09/2019 09:17

Government strategy of getting this out and then people downplaying it has worked a treat. No change in stance from the same old voices on here. It's like it never existed.

chomalungma · 14/09/2019 09:38

t. No change in stance from the same old voices on here

I suspect that people who post on here who are very pro Leave and pro No Deal won't worry about this report.

It's the ones who don't comment, who don't write on forums but who voted Leave for justifiable reasons but have heard about this report, maybe not read it but have heard the soundbite headlines, who may change their views on No Deal.

Those are the ones who people who don't want No Deal should be trying to persuade with this report.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 14/09/2019 11:22

Brexit could easily make things so shit here that people don’t want to come here because there are no jobs, no quality of life, inadequate health care, high cost of living. But that would probably please some brexiteers

Friendlylynn · 14/09/2019 11:42

Three areas really concern both my Son and I,
The claim that there will be a shortage of basic medicines and sadly not really genuinely believing that the online company that we currently order from, have sorted things adequately.
I telephoned them a few days ago and their reply to my worries was to read off a automated paragraph and too not really sort my genuine concerns out, or to even take my issues seriously.
The second issue concerns the claim of food shortages and higher prices. I have not read of what any one is doing to make sure that the disabled and the vonurable are not left unable to feed themselves adequately and increased food given to food banks..
Thirdly the shortage of petrol could leave my Son unable to get too and from work or over to me, in a emergency.

Nearly47 · 14/09/2019 18:06

GrouchMrs I didn't know that! I wonder what they will gain from Brexit to be willing to risk so muchConfused

CactusAndCacti · 14/09/2019 19:00

Haha, even one of our local pro Brexit Tory MP's is saying it is worse case. And his lap dogs are lapping it up and saying that we only have YH because they haven't had time to spell out the benefits.

We're doomed.
