Just been released

assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/831199/20190802_Latest_Yellowhammer_Planning_assumptions_CDL.pdf

And I wonder what Number 15 is. It's been redacted.

So much to highlight:

Impact of food and fuel prices on poorer people.
Impact exacerbated due to winter flu issues at that time of year
Lorries delayed and flow reduced to 40 - 60%

And I'm only on page 1

Always be cautious around anyone who goes on and on and on about the virtue of 'hard work' when they have never had a proper job. They are either thick and lacking imagination, or have an agenda to keep the 'lower orders' in their place so they can profit from the labour of others.

minesagin37 · 13/09/2019 07:36

The long term effects will be far worse. Scientists will leave, health research will decline, this will impact more on our children.

DippyAvocado · 13/09/2019 07:47

Saw this today. Examples of tweets from Vote Leave in the run-up to the referendum talking about how easy it would be to get a trade deal. That's what people voted for, not lack of food and critical medicines.

to ask you to read Operation Yellowhammer documents and see for yourself how Brexit will impact you
WaterSheep · 13/09/2019 08:29

DippyAvocado

It's a strange set of circumstances where those who voted to leave are seemingly happy about how disastrous this could be, just so long as they leave. Confused I don't understand why leaving is more important than calling out those who lied to them.

Graphista · 13/09/2019 17:12

"Always be cautious around anyone who goes on and on and on about the virtue of 'hard work' when they have never had a proper job." Damn straight!!

"The long term effects will be far worse. Scientists will leave, health research will decline, this will impact more on our children." Absolutely!

Not to mention the potential privatisation of healthcare.

"I don't understand why leaving is more important than calling out those who lied to them."

I don't understand why leaving/being "right" is more important than the LIKELY suffering of people they claim to care about!

Graphista · 13/09/2019 17:22

Just seen on Twitter

to ask you to read Operation Yellowhammer documents and see for yourself how Brexit will impact you
Toomuchtrouble4me · 13/09/2019 17:28

Well, yes - YABU really as we can all make our own minds up if we want to read all, part or none of this worst case scenario doc.

Notonthestairs · 13/09/2019 17:33

It's not just about how it will impact you directly - it's worth knowing how it will impact society as a whole (which will have ramifications for you).

It was titled base scenario a few weeks earlier.

Elsie1966 · 13/09/2019 18:35

Parliament should of had a second referendum, instead now we have a load of monkeys that don't have a clue. At least if it was put back out to public vote, and whatever the outcome of that would of been, then perhaps parliament and the eu would of been more unified in agreeing what the public wants

Nearly47 · 13/09/2019 18:40

UK had such unique situation in being part of EU and still having a strong currency. Now for the stupid way this is being done this country completely messed up its international standing and economy. I am against Brexit but even so I think it could have been done properly and gradually to minimise disruption. Maybe start by living in you but continue being part of common market. And leave that at a later date. I don't know as I am not expert but the entire thing from the referendum to today has been done in the worst way possible. Why call article 50 so soon? The conservative was only thinking about remaining in power and not how to make proper plans in such complex issue. How couldn't they foresee the Ireland border issue? How couldn't they see foresee the proportion of food and medicine that comes from EU? The whole thing is so absurd that doesn't seem real.

Nearly47 · 13/09/2019 18:41

Should read leaving the EU

twinkletoesfairy · 13/09/2019 18:54

No deal - no oxygen...HELLO!!

TonTonMacoute · 13/09/2019 18:58

Why call article 50 so soon?

The whole of Parliament voted to revoke it, by a majority of 384 - including Corbyn.

Smileyk · 13/09/2019 19:16

I work in a pharma company that also makes medical devices. We've been trying to plan for this for the last year.

BunsyGirl · 13/09/2019 19:22

It’s fine because Corbyn will save us Smile

bossyrossy · 13/09/2019 19:37

Brexit supporters seem to have gone very quiet.

AgentOhDoSodOff · 13/09/2019 19:47

This week saw the list of medications that’ll be difficult to get after Brexit. Both of the meds which keep my BP low to stop an inoperable aneurysm from bursting are on there.

Just wish those who are OK with this, think NO Deal is worth my death or serious disability, would step up to their responsibility: step up at least financially to care for my kids if I can’t because of your beliefs.

tabby007 · 13/09/2019 20:02

I think there are always going to be pros and cons in all situations including whether we stay in the EU or leave.

Anyway, no one knows for sure how bad it will be if we leave.
But I think leaving without a deal is not a good idea....

Anyway, this has just been forwarded to me.. so it seems whether we leave or stay in the EU it's downhill!
I think the EU countries are also heading for a recession including U.K. no matter what.
And that's more to do with how messed up and right wing societies are becoming where wealth is hoarder by a few top elite now and and people tend to care less about others and a thing called society.

Anyway, this is what was forwarded to me, and it makes as bad reading as the yellow hammer.
But this is if we don't leave what will happen.

Re posted (having checked it out)

I just got through reading the Lisbon treaty. OMG!!!!!!

WHY IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT THE LISBON TREATY, THE TREATY THAT COMES INTO FORCE 2020, ITS WORSE THAN THE SO CALLED DEAL, IF 99% OF THE BRITISH THINK TERESA MAYS DEAL IS BAD, JUST LOOK AT THE LISBON TREATY. PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW, LEAVERS AND REMAIN
..“What will actually happen if we stay in the EU” is a question no remainer will ever answer but here it is warts and all.
Check it out if you wish ——>>
1: The UK along with all existing members of the EU lose their abstention veto in 2020 as laid down in the Lisbon Treaty when the system changes to that of majority acceptance with no abstentions or veto’s being allowed.
2: All member nations will become states of the new federal nation of the EU by 2022 as clearly laid out in the Lisbon treaty with no exceptions or veto’s.
3: All member states must adopt the Euro by 2022 and any new member state must do so within 2 years of joining the EU as laid down in the Lisbon treaty.
4: The London stock exchange will move to Frankfurt in 2020 and be integrated into the EU stock exchange resulting in a loss of 200,000 plus jobs in the UK because of the relocation. (This has already been pre-agreed and is only on a holding pattern due to the Brexit negotiations, which if Brexit does happen, the move is fully cancelled - but if not and the UK remains a member it’s full steam ahead for the move.)
5: The EU Parliament and ECJ become supreme over all legislative bodies of the UK.
6: The UK will adopt 100% of whatever the EU Parliament and ECJ lays down without any means of abstention or veto, negating the need for the UK to have the Lords or even the Commons as we know it today.
7: The UK will NOT be able to make its own trade deals.
8: The UK will NOT be able to set its own trade tariffs.
9 The UK will NOT be able to set its own trade quotas.
10: The UK loses control of its fishing rights
11: The UK loses control of its oil and gas rights
12: The UK loses control of its borders and enters the Schengen region by 2022 - as clearly laid down in the Lisbon treaty
13: The UK loses control of its planning legislation
14: The UK loses control of its armed forces including its nuclear deterrent
15: The UK loses full control of its taxation policy
16: The UK loses the ability to create its own laws and to implement them
17: The UK loses its standing in the Commonwealths
18: The UK loses control of any provinces or affiliated nations e.g.: Falklands, Cayman Islands, Gibraltar etc
19: The UK loses control of its judicial system
20: The UK loses control of its international policy
21: The UK loses full control of its national policy
22: The UK loses its right to call itself a nation in its own right.
23: The UK loses control of its space exploration program
24: The UK loses control of its Aviation and Sea lane jurisdiction
25: The UK loses its rebate in 2020 as laid down in the Lisbon treaty
26: The UK’s contribution to the EU is set to increase by an average of 1.2bn pa and by 2.3bn pa by 2020
This is the future that the youths of today think we stole from them?
They should be on their knees thanking us for saving them from being turned into Orwellian automatons!
Forget Deals no deals its time for remainers and brexiteers to unite and see whats coming before its to late. This is the whole reason they are dragging brexit out. So we can get to 2020 then we have no choices anynore.

I bet you're one of those who shares chain letters, and to claim you've actually checked it out is laughable. Re posted (having checked it out)

A quick google will enlighten you, but I bet you don't actually want to be educated, you just want to spread misinformation.

How did we manage before we joined the Common Market, as it used to be called? I find it appalling that we are not producing the goods we need here in the United Kingdom, including medicines. How did we, as a country become so reliant on the EU?

How did we, as a country become so reliant on the EU

Why are we reliant on China for a lot of our goods?
Or the USA?

Open borders, no tariffs, common standards - all make trade across borders so much easier - which is a good thing.

How did we manage before we joined the Common Market, as it used to be called?

Probably the same way we managed before the internet, before mobile phones, before cars, chemo, electricity and running water etc.

The world moves on. We're not in the 70's any more and no Brexit, with or without a deal will get us back there. The economy is now global. We're cutting off our easy access to it. Also, the population is now much bigger than it was in the 70s. It's simply not possible to be a self-sufficient country. We don't have enough space to grow or produce what we need.

Babysharkisanearworm · 13/09/2019 20:23

The yellowhammer document is a risk assessment. What we haven't seen are the risk mitigation strategies.
