It feels blimmin cold to me in the evening but I don't normally turn it on until the end of this month. Maybe I'm just getting older and feeling the chill ... 10th September would be a record I think!

18° would be painful, unless I was sprinting around the house cleaning.

AuntieMarys · 11/09/2019 07:47

We live in the north and the heating went on for 2 hours 6-8 pm last night to take the chill off. I have poor circulation in hands and feet, which are always cold.

SandraOhshair · 11/09/2019 07:49

Ours clicked on as it had dropped to 19 at the weekend on Sunday evening. It really wasnt needed so I've dropped the trigger to 18 and will see how that goes. It's about 12 outside, but inside its 19 which is ok.

Redwinestillfine · 11/09/2019 07:50

No. It's warm! ( North West England). Last year it didn't go on until the end of October.

nononever · 11/09/2019 08:03

I would have thought you are all used to those temps by now though.

I can't stand a stuffy house. Of course we put the heating on if it's chilly. We only need to have the thermostat at 20 for the house to be roasting as it's very well insulated. It's still summer hence the 10C setting. In winter the heating is on a schedule. Our thermostat is in the coldest part of the house near to the front door and it's currently showing an ambient temperature of 18C with the windows open.

This has been our house temperature for the last month, no heating and windows open, usually overnight too.

Even when our heating is on it's rarely on above 18 degrees. I love snuggling under a blanket in winter and can't do that if the heating is on too high.

Plus I get a really bad headache if it's too warm and stuffy inside - I couldn't sit inside with the heating on full blast all day.

Hereshopingforimprovement · 11/09/2019 08:11

Intermittently for the last week or two (Scotland). Getting hive fitted next week, I am beyond excited about it!

CuntForThisOne · 11/09/2019 08:11

Not a chance. I have all the windows open, too (northern England). At some point in December, I will give in to the teenagers' complaints and at least shut the windows. I have, however, brought out a 2 tog duvet (only have a sheet in summer). If anyone wanted to torture me, it would be with an electric blanket.

MouseInATelescope · 11/09/2019 08:12

Pff I pay them £90 a month I put it on if I'm cold!

Idontwanttotalk · 11/09/2019 08:12

It was a bit cool a couple of days ago so I put a hoody on but it warmed up again yesterday. No CH yet.

MagicKingdom · 11/09/2019 08:13

Was going to say no, but apparently it was on for 15 minutes yesterday. (We have it set to 20)

Yellowcar18 · 11/09/2019 08:13

Yes, it's cold

MouseInATelescope · 11/09/2019 08:15

To be honest I've been using the little portable heater in the kitchen almost every day for 2 weeks (W.Yorks)I have reynards though so get numb with cold very easily, just with stress and a slight drop in temp- so all the time at the moment! the heat is comforting.

Nonononon · 11/09/2019 08:27

Yep. Not constantly though.
I had it on a few times in August too.
I HATE being cold.

Nonononon · 11/09/2019 08:28

Fwiw I live in the north of England so it has been pretty cold here.

nononever · 11/09/2019 08:40

CuntForThisOne you do know that's child neglect Grin.

hereshopingforimprovement we love Hive, we've had it since the beginning. Love the remote setting, you can be anywhere in the world and turn your heating on (or off)

Buyitinbamboo · 11/09/2019 08:51

We try to not put ours on at all. We live in a flat and our neighbour below was elderly, her heating was so high it seemed to warm our floors. She moved this year so we might need to at some point. Not yet though. New baby is due November so probably then. DD is 3 but always says shes warm, refuses to put a cardigan on.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 11/09/2019 08:55

Yes, it's been on for the last couple of evenings. We have a cold, poorly insulated flat so I'm not sitting shivering!

cheesenpickles · 11/09/2019 08:57

I wish. My husband refuses to switch it on before December. Just wear more jumpers he says. Hmm

SteamedPotatoes · 11/09/2019 09:31

Nope and windows are open !

LovesNettles · 11/09/2019 09:36

I find it hilarious that people have certain dates when the heating goes on or off for the season. I'll whack that sucker on in July if it's chilly and a jumper doesn't do the trick. Life is too short to shiver in misery because it's the wrong month.

IncrediblySadToo · 11/09/2019 09:39

No, but I would if I was cold - after socks and a cardi, but before looking like the Michelin man.

I think other people would have put it on here though, but mostly we like it cool until winter really sets in.

But it’s not date dependent, just personal comfort levels.

We never put it on when it’s nearly bedtime or we are about to go out etc and the thermostat is very mindfully set so as not to waste energy, but to be comfortable - I’m hsppy with our environmental impact on this.

MissConductUS · 11/09/2019 09:58

I was in the kitchen cleaning up after dinner last night and felt the central air conditioning start up. The forecast is for a high of 31 today.

madcatladyforever · 11/09/2019 10:00

I certainly have not, I'm British Wink
