It feels blimmin cold to me in the evening but I don't normally turn it on until the end of this month. Maybe I'm just getting older and feeling the chill ... 10th September would be a record I think!

AnneWeber · 10/09/2019 21:52

I go by the temperature not the date. Or the thermostat does

TokyoSushi · 10/09/2019 21:53

Yes, just for an hour earlier! (Cheshire)

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 10/09/2019 21:54

No not yet. I've got windows open too. Really trying to hold out until October.

minniemoll · 10/09/2019 21:55

No, but I've had my gas stove on in the living room for a couple of hours this evening - that'll do as long as it stays about this temperature ,I don't need the rest of the house warm.

BarbedBloom · 10/09/2019 21:56

No and I have had the windows open today. But I did feel a bit cold earlier, so it may be on soon

SpangledBoots · 10/09/2019 21:58

Nope. And I have my bedroom window open. In Scotland.

I think four years of student living here hardened me to the cold. My family ask for blankets when they visit...

GruciusMalfoy · 10/09/2019 22:01

Not right now, its 19 degrees inside. I've put it on for an hour when its felt chilly recently. (Scotland)

Notajogger · 10/09/2019 22:02

Nope. Sitting in jeans and a top. It's 14 degrees outside now so must be at least 18 inside.

Yes, it comes on automatic when below 20 degrees. Hmm aren't indoor room temps supposed to be about 17 or 18 degrees? You can get those little thingies from the gas companies which tell you when the house is too cold/hot.

Moominfan · 10/09/2019 22:02

No but I have dressing gown and bed socks on. Won't go on until end of month atleast

TheStakeIsNotThePower · 10/09/2019 22:03

No, but I do need to put the thicker duvet back on the bed when I change the sheets! There was ice on my car on Saturday when I left for work (5.30am). I have a blanket to snuggle in on the sofa but the house itself is fine. Well insulated though. My old house was solid fuel heating so I would absolutely have switched to the stove at these temps and enjoyed having hot running water again after the summer and the side benefit of heat!

megletthesecond · 10/09/2019 22:03

Yes. It's clicked on a few times. It's set to 20°.
I'm currently chilly and in thermals in bed but I'm going to sit tight and not flick it up higher.

Wincher · 10/09/2019 22:04

I put mine on for an hour for the first time today, DS2 came out of school feeling really poorly and he came home and snuggled on the sofa under a blanket. The thermostat said 18 degrees but the house felt a bit chilly so I thought sod it and put it on for an hour. DH harrumphed when he came in but he agreed that it was fair enough with a poorly child!

Drogosnextwife · 10/09/2019 22:04

Yup twice today but I work from home.

FairyBunnyAgain · 10/09/2019 22:04

No I’m enjoying not being too hot. I have the windows open now at 10pm.

My only concession to the cooler weather was to wear long trousers not shorts/dress today.

64sNewName · 10/09/2019 22:07

No, but I’ve been using the electric blanket and it’s utter bliss.

EskewedBeef · 10/09/2019 22:07

I don't think it's clicked on at all, but it's not been chilly here.

Hohofortherobbers · 10/09/2019 22:07

No! How long have I been reading mumsnet for? Is it December?

TheRLodger · 10/09/2019 22:07

Not tonight it’s warmed up a bit where I am. but I did last night and on Sunday.

delilahbucket · 10/09/2019 22:09

Not this evening, but I have, a handful of times over the last week, given it a 15 minute blast in the evening. I do have my hot water bottle out though, but that is more for my bad back.

simonisnotme · 10/09/2019 22:09

DH has lit the log burner, will put the electric blanket on when i next change the sheets

yearinyearout · 10/09/2019 22:10

No but I've got my fleece on. DH tries to ban central heating until the clocks go back -but I put it on anyway-

Bellasblankexpression · 10/09/2019 22:11

Nope still quite pleasant here. We would be roasting with the heating on! I like to put it off as long as possible although I’ve no idea why. Grin

Mum2jenny · 10/09/2019 22:11

No, it’s not that cold here. East Midlands.

Finfintytint · 10/09/2019 22:12

Not yet. Try to wait until October (oil heating). To be honest it’s not that cold here (Mid Wales). Back door is still open for the dog’s convenience and I must admit I’m wearing socks for the first time since May but I haven’t felt cold.
Bedroom window is still open at night.

Sotiredofthislife · 10/09/2019 22:13

No. But it won’t be long. I always try to make it to the 1st October but usually give in around the 20th September.
