It feels blimmin cold to me in the evening but I don't normally turn it on until the end of this month. Maybe I'm just getting older and feeling the chill ... 10th September would be a record I think!

Christ on a bike. No!!
It’s 11 degrees outside tonight. I have a cotton blanket on my legs on the sofa, but that’s because the back door is open because one of the dogs is fidgeting.

It’s not just the money, it’s the planet. My fuel is oil, so whilst my electric is sourced sustainably via Bulb, the heating is not. Unless I light a fire. Which I am not doing in September.

BackforGood · 10/09/2019 22:14

It's cooled down here (Midlands) but only to 'put a jumper on / put some socks on' temperature.

Sh05 · 10/09/2019 22:16

Yes just in the morning though. It showed 16 degrees here today and did feel warmer so not had it on in evening.
I have to make sure the house is warm in the mornings otherwise too difficult getting the kids out of bed!

Heymummee · 10/09/2019 22:17

Nope. House is plenty warm enough. The thermostat says 19 and we set it to only come on if it drops to 17 degrees inside which doesn’t normally happen until around November.

IAmALazyArse · 10/09/2019 22:19

It's 14 outside now and I am sitting here in a tshirt. Until it goes under 10 for 2 days straigt, I am not turning it on.
I do generally refuse to use heater April-Sept.
Comes off in March. Comes back on in October

FlorencesHunger · 10/09/2019 22:19

Only put it on for an hour or so in the evening atm, it has been pretty damp and my house doesn't even heat up in summer which is nice but means it easily gets cold.

Chloemol · 10/09/2019 22:21

No, just put my fluffy dressing gown on instead. Refuse to put it on until end as technically it’s still summer until the 21st Sept

babysnowman · 10/09/2019 22:22

Yes, put it on last week but only after someone else told me they had theirs on 😂

AiryFairyMum · 10/09/2019 22:24

Goodness no! I have the windows open each day too.

BananaPlant · 10/09/2019 22:27

Yes, for a couple of hours in the evening. I’ve got a jumper on and still feel cold. I don’t like being cold, it reminds of being cold as a child.

Beaverdam · 10/09/2019 22:30

Of course. I dont understand why some think it cant go on just because of the date. If its cold, my heating goes on.

theunrivalledjoysofparenting · 10/09/2019 22:32

Nope, not yet... still have windows open at night and patio doors open in day -SE England.

Thurmanmurman · 10/09/2019 22:35

Yep, much to the annoyance of DH!

3boysandabump · 10/09/2019 22:35

North east here.

Still have the windows open although I am closing them for through the night now.

Thehagonthehill · 10/09/2019 22:36

We have blankets back on the sofa.
Our gas fire has died and that was useful this time if the year just to take the chill of in the evening.
I have resorted to slippers in the house but am not in socks yet, carries have been used all summer(West Midlands).
Will be getting out the winter duvet though as I like my bedroom windows open and it is very chilly outside.

FredaFox · 10/09/2019 22:37

No and Windows are still open too. I do think it's felt colder this past few days though

Rubyduby26 · 10/09/2019 22:37

No way, we have got the fan on in the bedroom still and the windows open Grin

I'm always hot though. Me and DP have window wars because I would have the bedroom window wide open all night all year round!

My favourite thing ever is breathing in freezing cold fresh air (so your nose goes cold) while being under warm cosy blankets Smile

Untamedtoad · 10/09/2019 22:37

Are you insane?

HairyFloppins · 10/09/2019 22:38

It's never been off. If it drops below a certain temp it will come on.

It has only fired once I think in the past couple of weeks.

Sparrowlegs248 · 10/09/2019 22:38

Yes, I have never switched it off. The temperature has dropped below 18.5 so it's come on.

heath48 · 10/09/2019 22:38

No.House is extremely well insulated though.

Untamedtoad · 10/09/2019 22:39

In all seriousness, where are you all where it's so cold? We've been in shorts and vests all day with doors and windows open to cool the house down. Still feeling balmy in here now, and saw it's meant to get warmer end of the week. I'm in the Cotswolds

Cerseilannisterinthesnow · 10/09/2019 22:40

In the mornings yes but not in the evenings yet, thermostat was reading 17.8 at 7.30pm this evening

Sorrysorrysosorry · 10/09/2019 22:43

Nope. Windows open earlier today.
Had a blanket over my legs early evening when sat on the sofa, have had the heating on in the car the last couple of 7am drives to work, have started wearing long sleeves /hoodie over my T’s in the house but not time to put the heating on yet.

PumpkinParent · 10/09/2019 22:45

No, but I came seriously close tonight - in the South East. Have started wearing a vest and wool layer. Have also just put the kettle on for a hot water bottle and will ask that we have the heavier weight duvet on soon. We always have the bedroom window open at night.
