It feels blimmin cold to me in the evening but I don't normally turn it on until the end of this month. Maybe I'm just getting older and feeling the chill ... 10th September would be a record I think!

It dropped below the minimum temp so came on last week. Not for long though!

It is much easier to use less heat on the new boiler + thermostat we've got. Hoping our bills will be much less. Really recommend a smart thermostat (it's not a smart meter - it's only linked to our boiler and our phones not the energy company.) it can tell when we're out and not put the heat on until we're heading home!

BlackeyedGruesome · 10/09/2019 22:50

Midlands still in shorts and t shirt. By the time I am wearing two base layers, trousers and a couple of woolly jumpers, then the heating goes on.

Goes on for children's baths..

Youngandfree · 10/09/2019 22:52

Nope.

Aurea · 10/09/2019 22:54

Yes in the morning. . Our old Victorian house (Scotland) was sitting at 15.8 o/c in the front room. Would you put the heating on if it was this cold in the house? My husband always complains when I do.....

cricketmum84 · 10/09/2019 22:55

Nope. Am in t shirt and jeans but got a blanket on my legs and feet.

Tbf though I don't cope well with being too warm. We've still got the fan out for another few weeks yet.

cricketmum84 · 10/09/2019 22:58

@Aurea I would at 15 degrees yes!!

We have just had the cavity walls insulated (apparently original house builders didn't do it properly) and our living room is still 21.9. No heating needed here for a little while!!

dollydaydream114 · 10/09/2019 23:00

No, but DP did put the gas fire on for a bit when he got home earlier. He'd been standing outdoors for a couple of hours before he drove home, and he was freezing.

I was working from home on Monday and put the heating on for a couple of hours when the thermostat dropped to 15C.

leghairdontcare · 10/09/2019 23:01

No! Never give up, never surrender!

LBOCS2 · 10/09/2019 23:01

No, but I have shut some of the windows.

steff13 · 10/09/2019 23:01

It was 95° F here today. A/C all the way. Last week it was on the 70s during the day and 50s and night, which was perfect.

PinkLacy · 10/09/2019 23:03

@Notajogger “aren't indoor room temps supposed to be about 17 or 18 degrees?”

I’ve never heard that. Who says that? Ours is set to 22.5. 17 would be very cold indeed.

YesQueen · 10/09/2019 23:06

Everyone is different. My heating doesn't kick in until it's under 15c and I prefer to be in a room that's 17, 18 at a push. 20 and above is too warm for me

JustBeingJobless · 10/09/2019 23:09

Mine had come on briefly when we got up this morning. The thermostat is currently set to 16 so it must’ve dropped below that. It’s currently 18.5 in my living room and it feels a bit nippy, but I’ve got a blanket!

MissConductUS · 10/09/2019 23:12

No need. It was 27 here this afternoon, I don't think it was below 17 overnight.

We've already pre-purchased our propane for the season, so bring it on.

Babdoc · 10/09/2019 23:12

Just an hour in the morning to take the chill off and provide bath water. We’ve had a very warm summer up here in Scotland! The cat was basking on the patio this afternoon.

HandsOffMyRights · 10/09/2019 23:15

Only from October..

I didn't have central heating until I was a teenager. Even then my dad would only allow it on from November and he'd tell us to put an extra jumper on.
I used to put my hairdryer on to warm up!!!

Animum2 · 10/09/2019 23:15

I never put the heating on, I have a high body temperature and rarely feel the cold

Jocasta2018 · 10/09/2019 23:20

For me, the heating is on a thermostat. If it falls below 14c, no matter the time of year, it comes on!
The heating is now coming on in the mornings at 5am for a welcome warm start to the day.

Rest of the day it doesn't come on so the indoor temperature is comfortable - warm sunny days help. I've had the windows open when the sun is on them.

HandsOffMyRights · 10/09/2019 23:22

I'm envious Ani...

My colleagues have air con AND windows open at the mo. I'm sat there in a cardie.

Home is ok but it's odd walking into work in the warm/sun and sitting in a freezing office with no lights on (colleagues sensitive to light). I do sit by a window for some light, but it's wide open!

KatherineJaneway · 10/09/2019 23:22

No. I make a point to wait until I absolutely have to turn it on. Any activation signals the end of any nice weather.

Lockheart · 10/09/2019 23:23

No. It's not that cold yet. But I am wearing trousers and jumpers instead of skirts and t-shirts, and I was forced to dig out my oversize slippers from the back of the wardrobe.

rededucator · 10/09/2019 23:23

It will go on in December and go off again in February.

HandsOffMyRights · 10/09/2019 23:25

Oh and we are doing up a room where the radiator wasn't working. The plumber fixed it today Smile but now three radiators downstairs aren't working because of that!

Hecateh · 10/09/2019 23:25

last night but not tonight

lilypips · 10/09/2019 23:27

No. DH has moved onto his dressing gown and DD is in hot water bottle and fleece pyjama territory Confusedthe rest of us are always warm so no where near ready to oven bake Grin
