I literally can't get up...

IABVVU. I literally can't get up! I woke up at a normal time, got out of bed and felt like someone had been beating me up / smashing me on the head with a hammer. Went back to bed, woke up a few hours later... and I still feel so tired that I can barely move!

I can't be ill because I have no other, ahem, "symptoms" but every time I try to get up I feel dizzy! I'm blatantly just being lazy, DP is being incredibly kind and saying "rest for as long as you need," but he is back off to work tomorrow, so I really need somebody to give me a bit of a kick!

Please tell me to stop being unreasonable and lazy! Grin

Hangover?
Migraine?
Brain tumour??

Hope you feel better very soon.

Chouetted · 10/09/2019 16:46

Sounds like a migraine to me. Or vertigo.

Or maybe you just need to catch up on your sleep.

Your DH is right. Rest up and see if you feel better tomorrow.

NotMyRealName11 · 10/09/2019 16:49

Lol, definitely not a hangover, I don't get migraines and hopefully not a brain tumour!!!

I think it's just laziness and accumulated sleep deprivation...

It really could be sleep deprivation - I get the sort of crushing fatigue that you describe if I overdo it.

It always baffles me when people say "oh (s)he's just being lazy, he could get up if he wanted to", because that's certainly not my experience!

ClaireElizabethBeauchampFraser · 10/09/2019 16:52

If the room is spinning when you sit up and you are also nauseous it could be the labrynthitis virus. Which is nasty, I would perhaps try to get an appointment with the gp.

Mabelface · 10/09/2019 16:54

I would agree that you're not lazy and need to see someone.

rookiemere · 10/09/2019 16:56

Sounds like what I am getting over at the minute. It's a nasty virus and unfortunately you could be like this for a few weeks.

Aquamarine1029 · 10/09/2019 16:58

Sounds like a virus to me.

Watsername · 10/09/2019 17:01

Sounds like labyrinthitis. I would call your doctor.

NotMyRealName11 · 10/09/2019 17:14

I've never heard of labyrinthitis before!

Hmmm, I wouldn't say exactly I feel sick, but I do feel a bit kind of yucky and not like eating... the closest comparison I can make is that it's like when you feel travel sick!

Could be an inner ear infection, that always makes me feel sick and dizzy

rookiemere · 10/09/2019 17:16

You need to see your doctor although there's not a lot they can give you for a virus.
If it's what I have you feel okayish when in bed but utterly deathly if you try to do anything.

onalongsabbatical · 10/09/2019 17:17

Yeah I thought labyrinthitis too. But whatever it is you sound like you've got an illness OP.

adaline · 10/09/2019 17:18

Could be vertigo. My mum gets it and it knocks her for six - she definitely can't get out of bed.

MitziK · 10/09/2019 17:20

There's a bug doing the rounds at the moment - everybody is saying 'I feel dizzy and a bit sick'. Lasts about three days, most just stay feeling a bit rough, some are getting it worse.

Sips of fluids, paracetamol and a rest seems to be doing the trick.

AlmostAlwyn · 10/09/2019 17:20

Could you be pregnant?

karenbokaren · 10/09/2019 17:25

Lymes? Been bitten by a tick?

TumblingTumbleWeeds · 10/09/2019 17:30

It could be a 'pinched nerve' in your neck. Try a different pillow.

Crimebustersofthesea · 10/09/2019 17:35

I don't think you're being lazy op, it sounds like what I had, I had to take three days off work. My next door neighbour had the same and was signed off for 3 weeks. It's a virus doing the rounds, hits some people much worse than others.

NotMyRealName11 · 10/09/2019 17:36

Can't imagine I've been bitten by a tick, not pregnant!

I'm not feeling deathly, just kind of out of it... it hit me last night! If I tilt my head, it's like everything keeps moving backwards and forwards. And I'm soooo tired. My arms and legs feel like they're made out of lead!

Maybe a virus... will see how it goes. I feel like I should push myself through it... but it just ain't happening!

Dehydration? That causes similar symptoms. Drink loads.

Carrotgirl87 · 10/09/2019 17:42

Once happened to me this, physically couldn't get up all day my arms felt like deadweights! Next day I was covered in a rash, turned out was scarlet fever 🤷🏻‍♀️

inwood · 10/09/2019 17:43

What time do you go to bed and what time are you trying to get up?

mummmy2017 · 10/09/2019 17:43

That always means I am fighting a bug.
I sleep for six hours then all fine.

NotMyRealName11 · 10/09/2019 17:46

Usually go to bed by midnight, up at around 7, 7.30.

Haven't been sleeping well lately (and have young DD = disturbed nights) so it could just be accumulated tiredness!
