I literally can't get up...

IABVVU. I literally can't get up! I woke up at a normal time, got out of bed and felt like someone had been beating me up / smashing me on the head with a hammer. Went back to bed, woke up a few hours later... and I still feel so tired that I can barely move!

I can't be ill because I have no other, ahem, "symptoms" but every time I try to get up I feel dizzy! I'm blatantly just being lazy, DP is being incredibly kind and saying "rest for as long as you need," but he is back off to work tomorrow, so I really need somebody to give me a bit of a kick!

Please tell me to stop being unreasonable and lazy! Grin

The head tilting thing definitely makes me think of vertigo.

peachgreen · 10/09/2019 17:57

I've been getting this every few months since I had DD 18 months ago. Have had all the tests going and they can't find anything. It's driving me bonkers.

bridgetreilly · 10/09/2019 17:59

Dizziness is a symptom. It can be a symptom of all kinds of things - low blood pressure, low blood sugar, flu and other viruses as well as things like labyrinthitis. It's nothing to do with laziness.

Crimebustersofthesea · 10/09/2019 18:00

Honestly op even if you are 'just' tired you should take the time to rest and sleep. Sleep is so important to our physical and mental wellbeing. Your body is telling you that, for one reason or another, it needs a rest. Listen to it! I hope you feel back to normal soon Smile

InSpaceNooneCanHearYouScream · 10/09/2019 18:09

I'd see GP ASAP if I were you. Just the dizziness on its own could just be vertigo, but you had head pain too, together with the leaden limbs- that could be something more like viral meningitis or some other nasty virus. Worth getting checked out! Good luck

historysock · 10/09/2019 18:10

Sounds like labrynthitus (vertigo) to me. I was off with it for about 6 months when the kids were little. At its worst I couldn't balance at all.
The bad news is they can do little for it except give you travel sickness pills. The good news is that is usually passes fairly quickly. Bloody horrible whilst you have it though.

NotMyRealName11 · 10/09/2019 18:28

I feel like I don't feel bad enough for it to be anything serious... will watch and wait, as the medical profession say!

Thx for all the advice Smile Flowers

You could be coming down with something. I'd listen to your body and rest and as much as you can. If you don't feel better in a few days see your GP

rookiemere · 10/09/2019 18:48

Don't push yourself OP. I thought I was getting better after a week or so and did a few fairly innocuous activities- book club, short walk with dog, stretching type fitness class at the gym and ended up being fully floored for another week.

Love51 · 10/09/2019 18:54

There are other forms of vertigo than labyrinthitis. If this goes on definitely see a doctor.

NotMyRealName11 · 10/09/2019 18:57

Urgh - I just tried to sit up and have a bite to eat in the kitchen. After two bites I felt totally sick and dizzy and had to go back and lie down.

I might concede now that it's not just laziness!

I would be quite worried about this. The headache description would want me to ask someone to check I'd not had a sub arachnoid haemorrhage.

NotMyRealName11 · 10/09/2019 19:00

Oh yikes, what is that?!

OP posts:
Bubsworth · 10/09/2019 19:01

Yeh I'd get checked out if I were you OP. The only time I've experienced similar symptoms was recovering from a traumatic brain injury. Please go to out of hours GP or preferably A&E.

adaline · 10/09/2019 19:04

I think you need to go hospital OP.

amymel2016 · 10/09/2019 19:07

Hope you feel better soon OP xx

NotMyRealName11 · 10/09/2019 19:11

OK, I'm going to the UCC (which happens to be in a hospital and is fortunately only 10 mins away). I'm now sufficiently freaked out to think it might be something nasty which I'm now passing onto everyone else around me!

The worst that can happen is thatit turns out I'm wasting their time and they'll send me off home, I guess!

Hope all goes well.

Hawkmoth · 10/09/2019 19:24

Didn't mean to scare you. I have so many weird headaches that I know which warrant someone checking me.

SunshineAngel · 10/09/2019 20:03

You say you 'don't get migraines', but anyone can get them as a one off. It sounds more like flu to me though, or another viral infection. My partner and I were ill over Christmas, didn't have many symptoms, just didn't want to eat, had zero energy, and racing hearts. It was so weird, and it took us both weeks to get over it (lost weight though ha ha).

NotMyRealName11 · 10/09/2019 20:10

Ah, I didn't know that migraine could happen as a one off! @Hawkmoth, don't worry, you didn't scare me. Probably sensible to get checked out. I went to the UCC but they packed me off to ambulatory A&E so I'm waiting... pretty sure it's nothing serious though, unfortunately I am just one of these people who looks like death even when I only have a sniffle and am feeling fine!

Mitebiteatnite · 10/09/2019 20:18

I have had this for a few days and it's horrible. Came on really suddenly, although I've been feeling nauseous for days. My head suddenly started whooshing and the room started spinning, my ears were ringing and everything sounded muffled and far away.

I was going to book a GP appointment but I was too scared to go out in case it happened again so I asked for a call back.
He diagnosed over the phone, probably Labyrynthitis but given my history of allergies and the fact my hearing is now a bit shit in my left ear, it's looking more like it might be Menieres.

If you have Labyrynthitis they'll prescribe prochlorperazine which is an anti psychotic Blush but it also works amazingly for sickness and dizziness/vertigo. Makes you a bit sleepy, but a nice calm kind of sleepy!

NotMyRealName11 · 10/09/2019 21:36

Eek! So the doctor at A&E thinks it is not labyrinthitis but is concerned it might be viral meningitis, so has taken loads of bloods and talking about doing a lumbar puncture. I hope it turns out not to be, but just as well I came- so thank you for the good advice!

Hope you're OK OP.

smileylottie87 · 10/09/2019 21:50

Good on you for getting checked out OP, hopefully it's nothing serious and you're home and recover quickly Flowers
