I literally can't get up...

IABVVU. I literally can't get up! I woke up at a normal time, got out of bed and felt like someone had been beating me up / smashing me on the head with a hammer. Went back to bed, woke up a few hours later... and I still feel so tired that I can barely move!

I can't be ill because I have no other, ahem, "symptoms" but every time I try to get up I feel dizzy! I'm blatantly just being lazy, DP is being incredibly kind and saying "rest for as long as you need," but he is back off to work tomorrow, so I really need somebody to give me a bit of a kick!

Please tell me to stop being unreasonable and lazy! Grin

Hope you are soon on the mend and so glad you took the advice to see someone

INeedNewShoes · 11/09/2019 06:47

Oh come on, how does being really unwell make you a 'failure of a mum'.!? Give your head a wobble and stop thinking crap like that.

You're not at all well and you need to be in the right place to get better.

So glad you decided to get medical help! Hope you feel much better soon.

Fatshedra · 11/09/2019 06:51

You have been apologising all the way through the thread. Stop apologising - do you have self -esteem issues. See a counsellor once you are better, be a confident example for your DD.

Parkandride · 11/09/2019 07:45

Oh gosh hope you get well soon Flowers

Cerseilannisterinthesnow · 11/09/2019 07:49

I’ve had a dodgy tummy since Sunday, not sure if it’s a bug or my acid reflux thing flaring up, been a while since I had one this bad though. Still eating but just bad stomach all day

NoSquirrels · 11/09/2019 07:58

Feel like bit of a failure of a mum!

OP, listen up!

You’re a great mum.

You went to get yourself help from medical professionals.

You’re a great mum.

Flowers Hope you feel MUCH better soon.

NotMyRealName11 · 11/09/2019 08:14

I'm a terrible apologiser when I'm ill! I know it is very annoying for people - something to work on!

Actually just managed to get a couple of hours of good sleep and I feel a little better, both physically a d emotionally. Or it could just be the pain relief kicking in! ;)

Oh gosh, just read the whole thread. You definitely weren’t just being lazy then...

Take care of yourself, don’t feel guilty about it disrupting anyone else, occasionally even us mums have to put ourselves first. This is your time when you have to do that.

Take care.

InSpaceNooneCanHearYouScream · 11/09/2019 08:53

Aw bless you. You'll be better in no time

RandomFactor · 11/09/2019 08:56

Ask yourself this - If the house was on fire, could you physically get up, or would you actually have to burn to death?

Could be anything - laziness, depression, stroke, brain tumour... My money's on one of the first two.

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 11/09/2019 09:01

Sheesh RTFT Random!

FiveShelties · 11/09/2019 09:04

Lovely post Random - perhaps try reading the thread.

My money is on the viral meningitis discovered when the hospital did a lumber puncture.

OP Hope you recover quickly Flowers

Oooh, I'm taking you up that bet, @RandomFactor. I bet you £10,000 that it's neither laziness nor depression, and I'll make a wild guess that it's viral meningitis.

NotMyRealName11 · 11/09/2019 09:54

Lol, to be fair, it was an epic drip feed. Although unintentional!

The thread title is still right though. I still can't get up! In fact, I can't even sit up now (although apparently that's because of the lumbar puncture, and btw, the next time I hear that it is completely painless I will say that this is a lie!!).

Sorry to hear it's menengitis but glad you are getting the treatment you need

You do sound like the kind of person who will find it hard to be looked after and recover properly at home. Force yourself to do this and not think you are letting others down. Something like this will take weeks if not months to fully recover from. I had pneumonia and needed six weeks to get back to normal. This may take much longer. If you try to rush it out of guilt you may end up Ill again or prolong your recovery.

MrsMozartMkII · 11/09/2019 10:41

Yikes lass.

So glad you're in the right place and getting the right help.

As others have said, you'll need to rest and just let them do their thing and then you'll need to do your thing by taking it easy (and no, I don't mean "as easy as possible", I really do mean take it easy and let yourself heal.

NotMyRealName11 · 11/09/2019 10:43

Yeah.. I was supposed to be going back to work after mat leave at the end of the month, and when I said this to the doctor, she was like, "No. Way."

OP posts:
MrsMozartMkII · 11/09/2019 11:39

Nope. No going back at the end of the month lass!

I just have a stinky cold, but add it to the general Wonky health thing, I have to just chill or I'll be just on the edge of ill for an age. Frustrating. Boring. Frustrating. Boring. Etc. etc. etc. It doesn't change the facts.

Angliski · 11/09/2019 11:58

Vestibral migraine - this can come on after birth- it’s not very well understood but very disabling - migraine vertigo dizziness heavy ness and nausea

Funghi · 11/09/2019 12:02

Yes that’ll be it. Get your things OP, it’s not viral meningitis after all.

managedmis · 11/09/2019 12:19

No way you're going back to work any time soon my lovely!

Shocking news.

Hope you feel better soon xx

NotMyRealName11 · 11/09/2019 12:25

I know, I am quite shocked! I always thought that meningitis had a very obvious onset, but I never would have guessed. I have to have a CT scan this afternoon because I keep throwing up whenever I try to sit up (lovely, I know) and I am a bit freaked out and nervous Confused

Gazelda · 11/09/2019 12:27

I'm so glad you went to get medical help. Sorry you're so poorly, hope you're better soon.
Have you got a team who can help with DD when you fry home? It might be worth chatting with HV to see if they can suggest anything. It's vital that you rest well for as long as it takes.

MrsMozartMkII · 11/09/2019 12:30

Don't fret (I know, so much easier said than done!), you're in the right place and will get help to fix this.
