Are wax melts chavvy?

This is the opinion of a good friend when I told her that I had recently bought a few melts and a burner: 'Oh don't get into them, they are SO chavvy!'

I just want my house to not stink of baby wipes and crisp crumbs ffs!

Your friend is a very strange person. How the fuck can wax melts be chavvy?

BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil · 08/09/2019 20:16

Chavvy wax melts? 😂😂

HairyFloppins · 08/09/2019 20:16

Course they aren't. How bizarre.

Violetflowerxo · 08/09/2019 20:17

How can they possibly be chavvy lol

AsTheWorldTurns · 08/09/2019 20:17

Like a candle? Confused.

I think I recently read of Kirstie Alsop railing against people who use smell-covering things as common. Or did I dream that?

inboxmayhem · 08/09/2019 20:18

Hmmm! Is it the seller thou I.e MLM pyramid selling to get these wax melts?

jamoncrumpet · 08/09/2019 20:18

She is quite snooty generally. This latest one make me laugh out loud. Even when challenged she maintained they were 'Chavvy' and then went on a rant about Yankee Candles.

Are they? Maybe get some incense or an oil burner instead if you want to play it safe - or maybe they’re chavvy too?? Grin

BobTheFishermansWife · 08/09/2019 20:18

How on earth can something that makes your house smell nice be perceived as chavvy? I thought I had some out there ideas, but that's just odd...

RubaDubMum89 · 08/09/2019 20:18

What? I've never heard anything so bizarre!

Unless your wax melts are wearing a full tracksuit with a TN hat, I think you're OK. Hmm

Sparklesocks · 08/09/2019 20:19

Who cares that much about candle products! Your friend sounds insecure if she’s that concerned

BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil · 08/09/2019 20:19

What does she use in her house?

iMatter · 08/09/2019 20:20

Hate Yankee candles but that's because they smell really awful and clawing but I don't think that means they are "chavvy"

gorrisandhorace · 08/09/2019 20:20

Veeeery chavvy

TooMinty · 08/09/2019 20:20

I think slagging off other people's home decor is chavvy...

Butchyrestingface · 08/09/2019 20:21

WTF is a "wax melt"?

I live in the sticks. Sad

gorrisandhorace · 08/09/2019 20:21

Also it is.
I would never tell anyone in real life Grin
Nor would I wish to be judged on my own array of wax melts

Sammyp235 · 08/09/2019 20:22

Your friend sounds like strange....

ItProtectsMyHead · 08/09/2019 20:23

A wax melt is a piece of scented wax that you melt over a flame to release the fragrance, as opposed to a candle with a wick that you'd light, for those asking

gorrisandhorace · 08/09/2019 20:23

The thing is yankee have that yacky home baked smell, kind of like margarine clinging to clothes.
And wax melts are a bit of an extension to this.
And wax melts are a bit mlm

jamoncrumpet · 08/09/2019 20:25

How are they MLM?!

OP posts:
AsTheWorldTurns · 08/09/2019 20:25

Yankee candles are a bit full on.

dontcallmeduck · 08/09/2019 20:25

My mum bought me one but I don’t know how to use it? Do I melt it over and over again until it’s all gone? Seems to last forever that way

Butchyrestingface · 08/09/2019 20:25

@ItProtectsMyHead, may you bathe in asses milk. Cake

MillfredTheGreat · 08/09/2019 20:26

I don’t know about wax melts but I think yankee candles are chavvy too Blush
