Is it just me or are there a lot of really nasty people who comment on Mumsnet?

I seem to come across more and more people who comment on quite innocuous posts to the tune of "get over yourself".

I'd get it if it was a controversial post but I often see this where someone has posted something they're obviously upset about. I just don't understand some people's mentality.

I think there's a lot of useful advice on here and I've been coming on here for years but I don't really get why people go on the internet to get into arguments or make unnecessary barbed comments. I find it really weird.

I'm thinking of deleting my account now because the levels of aggression and negativity don't rest well with me.

Ive had some lovely advice on here over the last 6 years under a different username.

I did struggle with the “anti Cornwall” posts that got really heated back around Easter. Turned out that it was probably 1 or 2 posters who name changed frequently to keep posting horrible things about how awful Cornwall is. It was really awful to read at the time but MNHQ took the thread down due to “sockying” or something.

And to me - that proved how bitter some people are and how much effort and time they put into continuously posting horrible things under many many different usernames.

It’s very bizarre. And recently one of the culprits forgot to name change between anti Cornwall posts and it was really funny!

Grin apart from that I’ve had support with pregnancy, c section, money, moving house, mental health!

I love Mumsnet and even my DH has learnt that when he has a question to Google it to see if an old thread has the answer Smile

I do however dislike the WFH vs Back to Work argument.

And also the North / South divide.

Both subjects have brought out the worst in posters recently

Not just mumsnet, not just online. People are tired and worried and fed up and it's showing.

@lifeafter50

There are some lovely funny threads-those are uplifting. Ignore anything goady. There are some posters who make every ad hominem, just don't rise to the bait.
Oh, the irony!
