To bloody scream at Hermes 'delivery'

Sorry but posting mainly for traffic.

I was a due a delivery today from an order from Amazon. Came in from work (three other people in the house all morning). No parcel. Fine.

Chatting to my DD on the settee that faces the road.
A white van pulls up outside my neighbours a couple of doors up. Said to DD that might be my parcel.
No-one walked past my house.
No-one rang my bell
No-one knocked on my very loud knocker.
Assumed wasn't said parcel.

Checked on email and it says 'Tried to deliver but driver didn't want to leave it unattended' but to check calling card for number to ring re re-delivery.

Rang 'customer services' and the automated thing says delivered to unspecified location and to check calling card - I DON'T BLOODY HAVE A CALLING CARD!!!!!!!

Checked with neighbours - nope, no delivery to them either.

So where on Earth is my bloody parcel that I want for the weekend???!!!!!!

'Customer service' doesn't seem to exist!

I am fuming!!!!!!

Is my parcel somewhere in my street or will they try again tomorrow when it might be missed???!!!!!

Sorry, I'm rambling because I'm fricking fuming!!!!!

So, AIBU to want to bloody shout from the rooftops how utterly shit Hermes delivery is and more importantly, does anyone have a number that I can ring to actually talk to a human being?????

Even a live web/chat!

Anything!!!!!!!!

😫😤😡

I ordered some stuff from la redoute last week. Within 24 hours it had been dispatched to the courier but I'm still waiting. Yesterday I got a message saying it had been delayed but it would delivered today between 1-3.
Today I got a message saying it had been delivered and would be delivered ' in the next working day.'
Fuck knows what's happening.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 05/09/2019 22:43

And I've just posted a link to this thread on their Twitter feed

Just wanted to say a quick word in favour of Hermes. I have two people from this firm who deliver and both are great (shout out to Gaynor and the guy who works with her).

I guess I'm lucky and it depends very much, I suppose, on the individual couriers. I couldn't praise the two of them enough.

Raemand · 06/09/2019 04:04

Hiya
Sorry you are having to deal with this nightmare courier company... here are a few suggestions
Put your review on trust a pilot and twitter because that will trigger hermes to contact you

Wow, I am definitely not alone in my utter bewilderment at this poxy company it would seem!
I contacted Amazon and the guy I spoke to was lovely. He emailed me last night and said he'd contacted Hermes and it seems as if my parcel wasn't delivered to some random in my street and he's hopeful that it will still arrive I'm not We shall see!
It's nice to hear that a few of you have a good delivery person!

Thanks @Raemand that's really useful!

@Yabadee OMG that is awful!!!!!! Shock At least my parcel is only about £25 but I'm cross enough with just that!
Mine is irritating because it was for my DH's special birthday at the weekend Angry

My Hermes driver is fantastic. He comes at 8am every time time I’m getting a parcel from them. I must always be the first on the list or something

Aannnaa · 06/09/2019 06:13

argh - I feel your pain - I have literally had Hermes try to tell me they tried to deliver but no one was in despite me giving safe space details AND being at home, working in the garden ALL DAY on the day they tried to say they delivered - thankfully (for another issue) i have cctv and sent the footage of the last 48 hours to show that no one had been on my property except me

I have a former friend who worked for them she would routinely get to the end of the day without finishing her round so would come home and issue the failed to answer door ect. She would then leave the parcels unattended in her car until she was next available to deliver them.

She saw nothing wrong in it. She is now very much an ex friend

Letsnotusemyname · 06/09/2019 06:45

I had similar but different.

No delivery email but a blank delivery card.

Very difficult to make contact with no ref number, details etc.

If I’ve a choice I avoid sellers using Hermes, Yodel, DPD etc. The Post Office have always given me a better service.

Aannnaa · 06/09/2019 06:58

Dipi

oh do one!

or at the very least RTFT!

My - note MY - experience was a lie about a delivery when I had spent that whole day - not just me but friends - working in the front garden - where the delivery driver would have had to walk along to deliver - it wasn't a case of not 'getting off my arse' it was a case of the delivery driver not coming and trying to blame me 'not being in'

Aannnaa · 06/09/2019 07:02

postercompulsiveliar2019 i had this with a 'guaranteed delivery' for my daughters birthday - fist I had four people on the phone (on a monday night - this is relevant) assure me it was on the way to the delivery address which meant me staying there for 2 hours waiting - EVENTUALLY they said it had been delivered (it hadn't) and then the next person on the phone was able to connect me to the diver (in my town so I drove over to him) who when I arrived said 'yeah, i was gonna drop that over on wednesday.....' despite me ordering next day delivery

IsobelRae23 · 06/09/2019 08:20

I had this with Argos same day delivery a few weeks ago. Said they were delivering between 7pm-10pm. 10.05pm I had an email to say as no one answered they would attempt delivery tomorrow. I phoned customer services and explained- I had not moved out of the living room since 6pm, if you stand at my front door, you are looking into my living room window next to it- no one had been to my door. Put me on hold, and a few minutes later said ‘we are really sorry, the item is at the depot it was never actually loaded for delivery’. So why tell me they had attempted to deliver?? Wtf??!!!! I would have been annoyed but happy with the truth, but the lie really pissed me off!

SirTobyBelch · 06/09/2019 08:23

Sorry. You shouldn't order from Amazon if you actually want stuff to be delivered. They can't do this.

BizzzzyBee · 06/09/2019 08:30

My delivery driver is so hot! I really don’t care whether he’s on time with my parcel, as long as he knocks on my door and I can eye him up for a bit. Once he took off his jacket and used his huge muscular arms to gallantly retrieve my DC’s ball which rolled under his van - I almost wet myself with excitement.

kjhkj · 06/09/2019 08:34

We have a good hermes courier who knows me now and knows how to access the property and where to leave anything. However previously they were dreadful and we often had messages like - "put through letterbox" - erm no you didn't since we don't have one!

I now get things delivered to the hermes desk at the local petrol station if they are urgent.

kjhkj · 06/09/2019 08:37

I have a former friend who worked for them she would routinely get to the end of the day without finishing her round so would come home and issue the failed to answer door ect. She would then leave the parcels unattended in her car until she was next available to deliver them.

I spoke to a delivery driver at 9.30 last night who said "thank goodness you were in. If you were out then I have to drive it back to [town about 2.5 hours round trip away] and I only live down the road.

This rule I suspect is why a lot of us get messages about deliveries that have happened when they haven't.

Kazzyhoward · 06/09/2019 08:50

The Post Office have always given me a better service.

I presume you mean Royal Mail. We're finding them OK again at the moment (far from perfect, eg they never deliver normal post in our village on a Thursday!!).

But a few years ago, they were absolutely dire. It became common for them to leave parcels/signed fors, etc at the dept and just automatically put the "while you were out" cards through the door without knocking/ringing. They were surprised when we started chasing down the street after them to ask for the mail and they had to admit they didn't have it!! Once they're caught out, they don't play silly games like that again.

Just a shame they still have a tendency to put mail through the wrong door, but at least it's easily sorted, unlike having to travel 5 miles to the sorting office to pick up parcels they couldn't be arsed to carry.

SnugglySnerd · 06/09/2019 09:15

MuddlingMackem yes he's contacted the sender. They had received a msg saying it's been delivered!

Mags0407 · 06/09/2019 10:56

My problem with Hermes started last week, same as everyone else, booked to have them pick up a return item, no show but at the time of the stated visit I was digging in the drone garden, had all the windows open just in case.......it was a large parcel but very light and some guy came to collect three days later with a small estate car and had trouble fitting it in.......just had a email from Hermes stating because of the size, weight of the parcel I was being issued with an extra charge of £10, you can image my reply........putting a stinking review on the website

MargoLovebutter · 06/09/2019 11:01

Sympathy OP, I've had such bad experiences with them. I get stuff delivered to work and there is a 24 hour reception, 365 days of the year - there is ALWAYS someone there to sign for items and yet Hermes constantly tell me that they tried to deliver but no one was there. Absolute bullshit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do not have this problem with any other courier company. I refuse to buy stuff now if it is going to be delivered by Hermes.

sheshootssheimplores · 06/09/2019 11:40

I have to say my local Hermes driver is amazing. No problem at all. Yodel on the other hand 🤦🏻‍♀️

rainbowstardrops · 06/09/2019 13:30

Ooh I'd love to know what Dipi said to have their message deleted on a thread like this 😂 How funny?!
*
@SirTobyBelch* Thankfully I've never had too many problems with Amazon deliveries in the past but of course mess/ups are bound to happen from time to time I suppose.
This order was from Amazon too but had no idea it wouldn't be delivered by my usual Amazon delivery guy.
Does it even show up on Amazon as to who will be delivered by? I've never thought to look!

A Hermes delivery guy once walked into my house, through two doors and into my living room where I was sat on the floor with DD. He saw us, backed out and closed the door then left.

He’d left the parcel in the porch, which was bad enough as he’d opened my front door but for some reason had decided to walk through the porch and hallway and into my living room. DD was seriously spooked by him and upset for days after.

I contacted Hermes via twitter to complain, they asked me to DM them with the details ‘to investigate’. Eventually they responded with: ‘sorry but the guy said he didn’t do it’.

Ah, drama over then. Complaint resolved. Confused
