To bloody scream at Hermes 'delivery'

rainbowstardrops · 05/09/2019 15:51

Sorry but posting mainly for traffic.

I was a due a delivery today from an order from Amazon. Came in from work (three other people in the house all morning). No parcel. Fine.

Chatting to my DD on the settee that faces the road.
A white van pulls up outside my neighbours a couple of doors up. Said to DD that might be my parcel.
No-one walked past my house.
No-one rang my bell
No-one knocked on my very loud knocker.
Assumed wasn't said parcel.

Checked on email and it says 'Tried to deliver but driver didn't want to leave it unattended' but to check calling card for number to ring re re-delivery.

Rang 'customer services' and the automated thing says delivered to unspecified location and to check calling card - I DON'T BLOODY HAVE A CALLING CARD!!!!!!!

Checked with neighbours - nope, no delivery to them either.

So where on Earth is my bloody parcel that I want for the weekend???!!!!!!

'Customer service' doesn't seem to exist!

I am fuming!!!!!!

Is my parcel somewhere in my street or will they try again tomorrow when it might be missed???!!!!!

Sorry, I'm rambling because I'm fricking fuming!!!!!

So, AIBU to want to bloody shout from the rooftops how utterly shit Hermes delivery is and more importantly, does anyone have a number that I can ring to actually talk to a human being?????

Even a live web/chat!

Anything!!!!!!!!

😫😤😡

I was hoping there would be a thread like this! I paid for next day delivery from Debenhams and received a notice from Hermes saying my parcel is out for delivery between 1pm and 3pm. I was in for this time. At 1.20pm ish I get a message saying urgent action needs taking, so I contact the online help messaging to be told my driveway was inaccessible- but here’s the thing. During that 20minute window a different van had managed to get in (not to mention I categorically knew the driveway was perfectly accessible) yet they still practically accuse you of lying!Angry

SunflowersNKittens · 05/09/2019 16:57

I’ve had them deliver to completely the wrong house before. Worked it out. Holiday cottage so may have gone into their outbuilding and helped myself. Was full of other people’s parcels too

VivienScott · 05/09/2019 16:57

Amazon are responsible so call them.

BearSoFair · 05/09/2019 16:58

The last time I was unlucky enough to deal with Hermes, it wasn't even about my own parcel. They'd thrown a large box (probably a good 3ftx1ft) meant for an address in the next street over our 6ft fence, cleared the rose bushes, and it had landed in the middle of the garden. Impressive throwing skills really but definitely not what you should be doing with someone's parcel! I contacted them on Twitter to complain and they wanted absolutely nothing to do with me, as it wasn't my parcel, and couldn't see an issue with the fact their driver had dumped it over the fence. Dropped it off at the correct address myself and gave them a copy of the conversation I'd had with Hermes so hopefully they got somewhere with it.

MaddieElla · 05/09/2019 16:59

I paid for next day delivery and all was well when I got the email this morning to say Hermes had my parcel. However it hasn't updated all day long and it's not even "on its way." Only with Hermes do I get these issues. Angry

MissPepper8 · 05/09/2019 16:59

They are scum of the earth. I ordered 120 quids worth of clothes from River Island for my son in the sale. Said parcel went "missing". The searched the depo and it was "missing, never located" and so I lost out on new coats for DS.

I've ordered things from stores and they've said delivered but never turned up. So I've had to have things redelivered to stores.

Third incident, my mum ordered a hairpiece for a wedding and jewellery from a boutique. They delivered the jewellery but had labeled it as the headpiece being delivered (must of been on same van) and then the hairpiece came up as missing.

Only after a week of mum contacting hermes and the hairpiece site it randomly turned up.

They've had delivery drivers taken to court for half inching the items. I hate them, after my River Island incident I asked for my items to be delivered at the store.

Sorry I can't reply to everyone but I am reading all the replies and making notes!

I'm just trying to sort out ironing for DD to return to school tomorrow (why oh why have I left it until the last minute? Blush) whilst swearing like a banshee at bloody Hermes 'delivery'
Such a bad mum Wink

Not Hermes (my delivery driver from them is an absolute gem and really helpful).
I was waiting for delivery of a rather large heavy item. I saw a van pull up and went to meet driver at my door. Before I got there a card was posted through my letterbox. It was a “tried to deliver” card! I went out and shouted to driver, who ignored me and drove off.
Didn’t even ring my door bell! Obviously couldn’t be bothered having to carry my heavy parcel! Had to then rearrange delivery and wait in another day. Wasn’t happy.

KOKOtiltomorrow · 05/09/2019 17:02

Every year at Xmas I get a Hermes delivery meant for the house of the same number but 2 streets down .... they now invite me in for a drink and mince pie .. but I still hate Hermes

LondonJax · 05/09/2019 17:03

I don't know how most of the drivers are still in business.

I've had a parcel literally thrown over the back gate. They must have thrown it as the bolt was still across so either that or they have the power of moving inanimate objects. I wasn't expecting a delivery that day so didn't open the gate. Got back from taking DS to school. Later I went to put the bins out and there it was. No card. Nothing.

Second one left a parcel in the rain despite me leaving instructions (which were printed on the label!) to leave the parcel in our shed. This time the gate was not only unlocked but open, you can see it from the road, the instructions said what to do and the shed is within a couple of metres of the gate. Nope, they left it in a puddle - it had been raining since I left to take DS to school that morning.

We also had a Christmas present sent by DS's godfather which 'disappeared'. He got compensation and re sent it just after Christmas. In the February there was a big hoo-hah in our local paper when loads of Hermes parcels were found in a field. The driver couldn't cope so just dumped the lot!

Lovely people to do business with....

Good luck.

Megsheeran · 05/09/2019 17:05

I feel your pain and frustration OP. I am in mourning, the fantastic husband and wife team who have been delivering for Hermes for 8 years have left. They were reliable, always on time, cheery and helpful.
Now it is a complete shambles with random people delivering, they refuse to collect returns booked, lie and say you were out and deliver to the wrong address and forge your signature. Only bonus is the money I am saving by curbing my online ordering.

NeverSayFreelance · 05/09/2019 17:05

That's Hermes for you. They are notorious for this kind of shit. There is a reason (they are underpaid and have impossible targets) but that doesn't help the customers in any way.

rainbowstardrops · 05/09/2019 17:05

@VivienScott I have. Spoke to a nice guy but he couldn't tell me much. Said he'd send a message to Hermes about the delivery and hoped it would arrive tomorrow!
I'm now trying to sort constant parcel watch here as I've got to work!!!

OP posts:
rainbowstardrops · 05/09/2019 17:08

@Megsheeran it really does seem to be pot luck.
I spoke to my neighbour two doors up and he said they discovered a parcel behind their bin a week later than it was expected!!!!
And another neighbour asked me if I was talking about Hermes before I even mentioned them!!!!!

We have a regular Hermes delivery driver and he is truly amazing. But he's an absolute one-off and I consider that we are really lucky!

rainbowstardrops · 05/09/2019 17:10

@LondonJax no way!!!!!! Shock

I had a delivery from Hermes, where the email stated that the parcel had been placed in my outside building in the garden. I don't have an outside building. I phoned Next where I had ordered the goods from, they had a received a photo from the delivery chap of the house number where the parcel had been delivered. The same number as my house but obviously not my house. I trawled the housing estate near us until I found the right house (trying all the same numbers as mine). Eventually found the right house, where the outside building actually turned out to be the spot in the garden where the parcel landed when it had been thrown over the fence Angry

shearwater · 05/09/2019 17:14

Yes, ours has been good. Also returning stuff through Hermes is brilliant, just drop it off at a local shop and they print the label. I got a refund the same day from Amazon.

5foot5 · 05/09/2019 17:17

Hermes delivered a parcel to our neighbours and, ignoring any delivery instructions, they popped it over the fence. Fair enough you might think, except their garden shed is next to the fence and the gap between shed and fence is only about a foot and that is where the parcel ended up. They had an incredibly difficult job retrieving it.

MrsFezziwig · 05/09/2019 17:17

Not to derail, but I have just narrowly prevented a Yodel driver delivering a child stair gate.
I was expecting six hedging plants.

cosycableknit · 05/09/2019 17:18

They once left a parcel in my recycling bin, on bin day! 😣 they've also posted our whole streets' worth of parcels through to our neighbour without knocking at any of our doors first and no calling cards either.. Ridiculous!

OssomMummy1 · 05/09/2019 17:22

www.ceoemail.com is a handy website for all your problems. When Customer Care doesn't exist or unhelpful, e-mail the CEO directly, preferably with the name and designation of the person you spoke to in customer care.

I have had 80% success rate and sometimes even vouchers !!

I hate Hermes with a passion. Christmas 2017 my SIL who is an amazing maker of things handmade two dresses for my then 1 year old twins. She spent a lot of time over them and apparently they were gorgeous. As she had a new born and she and my Dbro weren't visiting for Xmas she sent them via Hermes WHO FUCKING LOST THEM. I still wonder where they ended up. Thanks for the opportunity to rant.

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/09/2019 17:31

We have two Hermes delivery people and both are ace. They do small parcels. I had a large parcel to collect and was told a crock of crap. Apparently I wasn’t there - they didn’t come to my house I was home. They were coming 3 days in a row and didn’t. I the end I had to live chat twice. I ended up cancelling the collection and eBay sale. Customer service is rubbish.
