To bloody scream at Hermes 'delivery'

rainbowstardrops · 05/09/2019 15:51

Sorry but posting mainly for traffic.

I was a due a delivery today from an order from Amazon. Came in from work (three other people in the house all morning). No parcel. Fine.

Chatting to my DD on the settee that faces the road.
A white van pulls up outside my neighbours a couple of doors up. Said to DD that might be my parcel.
No-one walked past my house.
No-one rang my bell
No-one knocked on my very loud knocker.
Assumed wasn't said parcel.

Checked on email and it says 'Tried to deliver but driver didn't want to leave it unattended' but to check calling card for number to ring re re-delivery.

Rang 'customer services' and the automated thing says delivered to unspecified location and to check calling card - I DON'T BLOODY HAVE A CALLING CARD!!!!!!!

Checked with neighbours - nope, no delivery to them either.

So where on Earth is my bloody parcel that I want for the weekend???!!!!!!

'Customer service' doesn't seem to exist!

I am fuming!!!!!!

Is my parcel somewhere in my street or will they try again tomorrow when it might be missed???!!!!!

Sorry, I'm rambling because I'm fricking fuming!!!!!

So, AIBU to want to bloody shout from the rooftops how utterly shit Hermes delivery is and more importantly, does anyone have a number that I can ring to actually talk to a human being?????

Even a live web/chat!

Anything!!!!!!!!

😫😤😡

Hermes really are crap. A client of mine sent a box of paperwork via Hermes. He emailed me to check I'd got it as the tracking said it had been put through my letterbox. Client thought this was strange as he knew there was no way his parcel would have gone through a letterbox. No cards left. After contacting Hermes and complaining, they sent a photo of the parcel showing it was on my office doorstep. No explanation as to why the driver had said it was through the letterbox and it wasn't the third delivery attempt either - it seemed the driver had just abandoned it first attempt (on an office doorstep on a bank holiday saturday!). I don't care if they're poorly paid or if they have lots to deliver - if you can't do your job properly, you deserve to be sacked!

Celebelly · 05/09/2019 16:24

Hermes is so driver dependent. Ours is a legend so I like when stuff comes via Hermes, but in the FB group for my old neighbourhood people are forever moaning about Hermes and trying to track down their parcels.

SoupDragon · 05/09/2019 16:26

My local Hermes deliverers are all great.

Thankfully!

I've only had to deal with customer services once when I sent a return that never arrived - they refunded immediately.

Raffles1981 · 05/09/2019 16:27

Hermes have delivered twice and left my parcel in the conservatory.

I don't have a conservatory Hmm

AhCheeses · 05/09/2019 16:27

Phone number for MyHermes... ukcontact.center/myhermes-number/
Where we live couriers have to be escorted and many can't be bothered waiting for an escort so they just don't bother delivering so I've called many times... 😡

RedPandaFluff · 05/09/2019 16:30

I don't understand this, especially the examples where they go to the trouble of pulling up outside the door and posting the "we tried to deliver . . . " card through the letterbox without knocking or whatever.

What do they gain from this? If it's to save time or targets related, isn't it just as quick to knock the door and hand over the parcel vs. writing out the card?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 05/09/2019 16:31

Ours is amazing too.

He doesn't drive, so his partner drives him.

He doesn't live all that locally, so often has a chat to find out where he is supposed to be delivering

He drives round twice, if he misses you in the morning he comes back in the afternoon.

His usual schpiel at the door is "Hello love, help me make it look like I have been working today, sign here please" said with a big smile and a quick chat, if you are willing!

Our last house had an equally great driver, she would take an order to the local shop, bring your groceries back, open / close your greenhouse if it needed it, fed my chickens once, when I was away for 3 days, and would often wave you down if she passed you with a parcel in the back. I believe she also did Meals on Wheels in the winter months

But DSis hates hers, he can't get a dleivery to her on time ever... and he lives in the same street

PassMeAnotherCoffee · 05/09/2019 16:33

We were away on holiday for a fortnight. Hermes left a parcel (which I hadn't been expecting) in my recycling box. They never even tried a neighbour, and this is definitely a street where we take each other's parcels in. All the other delivery companies work this one out pretty easily!
Fortunately it had clearly been quite dry after it was delivered and the books inside survived.

whoaherewego · 05/09/2019 16:35

They are just awful! I'm working myself up to a rant to their head of customer experience detailing exactly what sort of experience their customers receive...

Iamafanoffans · 05/09/2019 16:37

I had a very confusing delivery a few weeks ago. Specifically paid for a 2 hr slot as I knew I would be in. I received a text confirming delivery and a few minutes later I saw the van pull up outside my neighbours house so I went to stand in the porch as my dog goes a bit loopy when the doorbell rings, so I wanted to intercept the delivery chap.

Waited ages, no sign of the delivery man, so I went back to the living room to see the van pull away. Assumed it wasn’t my parcel after all and waited again.

My delivery slot time came and went, so I sent a text to the mobile number asking when my parcel would be delivered. He called me and said he tried to deliver but there was no one in, and he left a card saying it was with my neighbour. I said no, I have been in, I saw the van but no one came or my door, I hadn’t got a card and my neighbours were out. He was insistent that he left it with my neighbours. I said you couldn’t have, they were out. All very confusing.

I rang the store, and they said that their record showed it had been delivered to my neighbours and signed for. We then had about half hour of them saying it had been delivered and me saying no it hadn’t, my neighbours were not in that day, I hadn’t got a card etc etc.

Eventually we worked out that the driver had Knocked on completely the wrong door about 10 houses down and left the parcel with the neighbours of the house he incorrectly tried. I didn’t realise as I was waiting in the porch. We had the combination of the driver knocking on the wrong door, leaving the parcel with the neighbours of the wrong house, but telling me he had tried to deliver it to my address and then left it at the number of my actual neighbour.

I finally got my parcel about 6 hours after the original time slot once we had figured out where it went. I got my delivery changes refunded thankfully.

gowgow · 05/09/2019 16:37

As already said, you need to get in touch with Amazon.

Pigflewpast · 05/09/2019 16:37

Our local fb page has posts at least 3 times a week asking if anyone has their parcel as its showing as delivered but hasn’t been. Often with a picture of a doorway or shed which isn’t their house. Or a squiggly line which is supposed to be their signature.

kryztinababy · 05/09/2019 16:38

That's crap service op. I have a delivery with them in the next few days So hoping my delivery isn't as bad as yours.

rainbowstardrops · 05/09/2019 16:40

Interesting @cattreats
I've just spoken to a nice guy at Amazon but he couldn't tell me anything really except he said my parcel might not have been on the van?????

rainbowstardrops · 05/09/2019 16:43

@pooopypants I will definitely be doing this!

spiderlight · 05/09/2019 16:44

Our local Hermes driver is really good as well - very reliable, always comes at roughly the same time of day and has never lost anything. Amazon Logistics, however, left a Nintendo Switch on our doorstep in plain view of the road in torrential rain a few days before Christmas, despite a note on our door begging them to leave it next door! I was amazed that it was still there and still working when we got home.

proseccoaficionado · 05/09/2019 16:45

OP, I recently had a problem with them and it was sorted rather quickly through their online chat.

rainbowstardrops · 05/09/2019 16:45

@Kazzyhoward absolutely! I'd get fired if I was so shit at my job!!!

My DD was due a parcel from Hermes. We were in all day but she got a message later on saying the driver could not deliver as no-one was in.

The next day i too got a parcel from Hermes. When it was delivered we asked the guy about DDs parcel. He said the people who give the parcels to the drivers often give them the wrong packages so they can't deliver them due to being nowhere near the address. That is what they put on the delivery status message when this happens.

He took DDs tracking number back to the depot with him and said he would sort it and her package arrived the next day!

So i guess this still makes Hermes shit - but it isn't always the fault of the delivery people, the depot people can be equally inept!

rainbowstardrops · 05/09/2019 16:48

@Raffles1981 I've got one email that says it's been delivered to an unspecified location and one that says the driver wasn't happy to leave it unattended????!!!!!
No card through my door!
I just want to know where my bloody parcel is that I've paid for!!!!

I think Hermes are pot luck. I have a fab Hermes delivery driver but know I am really lucky.
Hope you find your parcel.

rainbowstardrops · 05/09/2019 16:54
  • @gowgow* I have contacted Amazon. Nice bloke but he couldn't tell me much. Just that he doesn't think it's been delivered to anyone else but he doesn't know for sure. That he'll try his limited connections to Hermes to try to get it delivered tomorrow and that my parcel might not have even been on the van?????? I despair

End of June I sent a key to my son using Hermes.

It never arrived. They told me it got damaged and so they chucked it out.
On trying to find out about compensation I have hit a brick wall.

They say I need to contact the seller. There was no seller, it was me.
They said they would call me. They haven't.

Online chat just goes round and round. I keep adding to my online complaint form telling them I am still waiting.

I'm trying to CEO as advised upthread.

rainbowstardrops · 05/09/2019 16:55

@proseccoaficionado how did you find the online chat??? I'm going round in circles!

DD waiting on something for a special occasion- Hermes send message saying it’s been delivered to our address with squiggly signature. No parcel. Neighbours don’t have it. DD crushed with disappointment not to have it in time. Advice online is check with retailer - they don’t know - check with Hermes yadda yadda ... I’m glad to don’t shop online
