To bloody scream at Hermes 'delivery'

Sorry but posting mainly for traffic.

I was a due a delivery today from an order from Amazon. Came in from work (three other people in the house all morning). No parcel. Fine.

Chatting to my DD on the settee that faces the road.
A white van pulls up outside my neighbours a couple of doors up. Said to DD that might be my parcel.
No-one walked past my house.
No-one rang my bell
No-one knocked on my very loud knocker.
Assumed wasn't said parcel.

Checked on email and it says 'Tried to deliver but driver didn't want to leave it unattended' but to check calling card for number to ring re re-delivery.

Rang 'customer services' and the automated thing says delivered to unspecified location and to check calling card - I DON'T BLOODY HAVE A CALLING CARD!!!!!!!

Checked with neighbours - nope, no delivery to them either.

So where on Earth is my bloody parcel that I want for the weekend???!!!!!!

'Customer service' doesn't seem to exist!

I am fuming!!!!!!

Is my parcel somewhere in my street or will they try again tomorrow when it might be missed???!!!!!

Sorry, I'm rambling because I'm fricking fuming!!!!!

So, AIBU to want to bloody shout from the rooftops how utterly shit Hermes delivery is and more importantly, does anyone have a number that I can ring to actually talk to a human being?????

Even a live web/chat!

Anything!!!!!!!!

😫😤😡

Today my parcel was left on the front step in full view of the main road (large town). God forbid they could have put it under the car or behind the bins...

lazylinguist · 05/09/2019 19:56

Hermes have delivered twice and left my parcel in the conservatory. I don't have a conservatory

Same here. Left in the shed. I don't have a shed.

PegasusReturns · 05/09/2019 20:07

@AhCheeses they have to be escorted??

70sWitch · 05/09/2019 20:12

often couriers arrive at the house to find the parcel isn't even in their van.

Nope. Couriers load up themselves afaik. If the parcel isn't there, that's still on them.

MillyMollyMooMum · 05/09/2019 20:12

Hermes are dreadful. They keep delivering to the wrong address - a completely different street, which doesn't even have a similar name. I used to order quite a bit from boden but the fact they mostly use Hermes has really put me off. Boden themselves are always very good but I have missed out on items which were the last of my size in stock for example, because of Hermes' incompetence.

rainbowstardrops · 05/09/2019 20:20

@Boreda how on earth do you get onto live chat??!!!!
I am tearing my hair out!

Dd had a delivery last week. Said it was at the depot. Then we will deliver between 3-5 or whatever, didn’t come, the tracking said we weren’t in - we were and have an unlocked porch with a sign saying leave in porch, plus their instructions say to leave in porch. The next day it was being sent to the courier, then arrived. So it was obviously still in the depot the first day, yet they said it was being delivered. She had paid for next day delivery so was cross.

Pigflewpast · 05/09/2019 20:50

Sorry OP, my story doesn’t help you, but it helps me to rant

fairydustandpixies · 05/09/2019 20:59

I had Hermes deliver a parcel several houses up the road from me last week. No calling card. It was a birthday present so I wasn't expecting it. If it wasn't for my honest neighbours knocking the next day to drop it round, I doubt I would have even known I'd missed it. And I'd been in all day it was delivered to my neighbours.

Yesterday, Hermes knocked to deliver a parcel, again I wasn't expecting one. Looked at label, not my name. Looked at courier and said it wasn't for me, then looked at the address and apart from the house number it was completely wrong.

She was suitably embarrassed and literally ran off with said parcel...

Creatureofthenight · 05/09/2019 21:14

Not just the private companies that leave parcels in stupid places. Royal Mail have twice left a parcel in my wheelie bin, probably because it’s next to the front door. On both occasions it was at least half full, mostly nappy bags, not something you want to be delving into!

ForalltheSaints · 05/09/2019 21:22

If we had a proper government and they wanted to make friends, proper regulation of parcel delivery and an end to waiting in all day would be a good way to do so.

AhCheeses · 05/09/2019 21:26

@PegasusReturns our house is on a military base.
Can't just have couriers pootling around willy nilly 😄
By the time they've been in here, waiting for the escort, delivered to us and then got back out, they could have done a couple of other deliveries and if they get paid per delivery, that makes a big difference I guess.
I've called the MyHermes number about 4/5 times this year already 😔
They're really helpful when you do call but it always means waiting at least an extra day for deliveries cos they can never get them back to camp the same day!

AhCheeses · 05/09/2019 21:28

Apologies for the shocking grammar, I'm multitasking badly!

BedraggledBlitz · 05/09/2019 21:35

@Curiousaboutsamphire your Hermes delivery person doesn't drive, so his partner drives him? Lol.

My Hermes parcels were always going missing/dumped on the doorstep I full view/thrown over our fence (lucky we don’t have a pond!).

Then last year we had a new delivery driver. A fella in his 60s who is lovely, he always turns up in the time slot and we quite often have a little chat now while he’s tapping on the delivery doohickey. Since he’s been doing it I haven’t had one issue. I pray he never leaves!

purplepoop · 05/09/2019 21:48

Useless! I’m waiting for a parcel from Amazon and according to the email i got this morning at 5:03am Hermes have tried yesterday but failed. No idea how as DH was outside most of the day painting!

Today i got a card from Yodel who tried delivering the same parcel.

So who the fuck is bringing it!?😡

purplepoop · 05/09/2019 21:49

This is one of the reasons to give up on online shopping.

We should use the shops. Totally regret not doing so

Actionhasmagic · 05/09/2019 21:51

Channel 4 or bbc did a show about Hermes and how awful they are. It was a panorama style one and it made me never want to use Hermes again (even though we have no choice really). A reporter went undercover and worked there

SnugglySnerd · 05/09/2019 21:54

My neighbour is having a dispute with them at the moment. He is out of pocket and still doesn't have his parcel. He is getting nowhere with them tok and is understandably fed up

PleasenomoreIcanttakeit · 05/09/2019 22:03

Ugh, I hate them too. Was expecting an urgent parcel a month or so ago. Never showed up but was marked as delivered and a card put through my door. Never had a card through door. Did some investigating, and they'd delivered it to a flat I haven't lived in for 8 months!!! The flat is empty so there's no way to get the card. Couldn't pick up the parcel from the post office (where the driver had taken it) without the card. PO didn't care that I had no way of retrieving the card. They sent it back to supplier. I had to wait over a month to get the bloody thing.

I've also waited in all day before with nothing, to see on their website that they'd attempted delivery but nobody was home Angry.

To bloody scream at Hermes 'delivery'
PleasenomoreIcanttakeit · 05/09/2019 22:05

Oh, and at the old block of flats I lived, on three occasions when I wasn't in, instead of leaving my parcel with a neighbour, the Hermes driver left it in the communal bin area! Anybody could've taken it.

Yabadee · 05/09/2019 22:21

Hate those bastards, I’ll share my story.

I left a job quite suddenly in February, and still had my work laptop and mobile phone. It was agreed I would courier them back.

Went through parcel 2 go and booked Hermes.

The laptop and phone were in a sturdy laptop bag, then in a box, then double wrapped in brown paper.

Weeks passed and I got a letter from my old work stating if they didn’t get it back before the end of that week, I would be charged out of my last wage with them. Contacted Hermes who could only tell me that my parcel was too badly damaged and had to be destroyed.

I stupidly didn’t get enough insurance and only got a refund of what I’d paid from parcel 2 go, about 7 quid I think.

My old work took my whole last paycheck. £783 😔

I KNOW for a fact that parcel was stolen. There is no chance in hell it would have been so badly damaged it had to be destroyed.

Lesson learnt to pay for adequate insurance in future, and never use Hermes again.

MuddlingMackem · 05/09/2019 22:29

@SnugglySnerd, has your neighbour only contacted Hermes, because he should be contacting the sender, that's who his contract is with. Unless of course he is the sender.
