I've just gone in hoping to find some decent things but it just resembled a jumble sale! Things out of their packets, in the wrong places etc. I know a few people who have bought great designer items so cheap from there but I can never find anything.

Aibu to ask what's the best thing you've bought from there?

A Michael Kors coat for about £40

Carvela shoes £25

Armani combat trousers £12

Paul Costello leather purse £14.

Love the place!

livinglavidavillanelle · 29/08/2019 21:19

I bought some lovely Kitchen Aid tea towels recently, and some lovely artificial plants, but agree it's not as great for finding hidden gems as it once was.

Littlecaf · 29/08/2019 21:20

Ollie and Nic purse in 2005. Set me up for a lifetime love of the brand.

Nail varnish mostly OPI.

White suede Hush Puppie shoes. I loved them. They looked so cute.

ShabbyNat · 29/08/2019 21:20

Not been in for about 4 years, but my best ever buy was a huge Tefal Wok with lid, bought abought 7/8 years ago & still almost like new, dont have to put oil in-except for turkey mince!!! Use it daily!!! Cant remember how much it cost, but do remember it was an absolute bargain!!!

Herocomplex · 29/08/2019 21:22

Yes Supersimkin it’s a shame. My purchase was several years ago before NF went under.

ticolac · 29/08/2019 21:22

Grin at Alan and the crab bell. I know... but have neither

EKGEMS · 29/08/2019 21:23

A silky, super soft and cuddly fleece peanuts themed blanket for my sister

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 29/08/2019 21:26

John Charles slubbed silk dress and jacket (RRP ~£350) for £35. I was going to a very fancy wedding, and it was absolutely perfect. Not a brand I'd ever have looked at — too expensive, and I thought it was a bit mother of the bride — but this one wasn't.

And a beautifully soft suede Diesel jacket, which I love to pieces.

Autumnintheair · 29/08/2019 21:31

So much stuff!

It's far easier to shop there as everything is grouped. So all glasses together. All plates together.

All size 14 jumpers on one rail.
All size 10 coats on one rail.
No endless traipsing across the store to see where all the spread out styles are.
I can be in and out in 10 mins if I want a specific item.
Anyway, loads of spode dinner plates, fab Xmas plates, beautiful bed sheets, clothes, toys.. Unusual gifts for people, Italian hand made shoes! Gorgeous throws, make up, sun glasses.. I love that shop.

PaddingtonMare · 29/08/2019 21:32

Temperly silk dress for my DBs wedding (their gold label) Cashmere cardigan for DP for Xmas. Kids toys for gifting for over half price and sometimes find kids leather shoes at a good price. The website and flash sales can be good.

Downinthetubestationatmidnight · 29/08/2019 21:33

They had some Kew clothing in - Jigsaw's cheaper sister range, a couple of years ago after Kew stopped trading and I bought a linen dress, 2 pairs of trousers and a jacket. Great quality and very wearable. I like their sterling jewellery if you can find a branch that stocks it. It has changed though now TK Maxx produce their own brands, not as many hidden designer gems.

Accountant222 · 29/08/2019 21:33

Prada handbag from the Harrogate branch, lots of Betty Jackson and they used to have fabulous cashmere Dean & White or something like that. Lots of Ralph Lauren stuff

countingto10 · 29/08/2019 21:34

100% cream silk blouse from Reiss for £10, ticket said £155. Couldn’t believe my luck! Wore it on a cruise with a pair of wide leg satin trousers I got from Next clearance for £6. Looked very chic and as DH very happily pointed out, the whole outfit only cost £16 😁

goose1964 · 29/08/2019 21:34

My usual buys are my birkenstocks usually half price. I bought a snazzy tangle teaser for a fiver. I also bought DDs prom dress, black and heavily beaded for 20 quid, about 10 years ago. I also bought some cashmere socks for about £3 lovely and warm.

Drogosnextwife · 29/08/2019 21:34

I only buy their homeware now, and oy if I see something I really like. Their clothes aren't great, every now and then I find sports wear that's OK but that's about it.
I found a few jumpers for my ds a couple of years back, never found anything decent again.

MoreCuddlesForMummy · 29/08/2019 21:36

I agree with the gro bag stuff for babies. Quite a bit cheaper than elsewhere. And the toys can be pretty good too. I’m sure I found some Melissa and Doug stuff that I’d been looking at anyway around Christmas last year and found it heavily reduced.

Will need to go in for a solo rake sometime soon. Feeling inspired by this thread!

dementedma · 29/08/2019 21:36

Fuck all. Stuff is weird, sizes all over the place and shop like a jumble sale. Really don’t feel the love for this shop at all

Drogosnextwife · 29/08/2019 21:39

When I was about 13 I found a pair of flared jeans that were dip bleached, white at the bottom up to dark at the top. God I loved those jeans.
I also used to work there when I was about 16 and found another excellent pair of jeans, only thought they were excellent because I was tall and struggled to get jeans to fit my legs and the second pair were slighy too long.

BeanBag7 · 29/08/2019 21:39

Le Creuset cookware (also make great wedding gifts)

A pair of Calmia yoga pants which were £16 reduced from £70. Seven years on they're still soft and comfy and like new!

Grobag sleeping bags for babies at 50% off because they were past seasons.

Sunglasses reduced from £160 to £25. Cant remember the brand but they lasted ages.

Supersimkin · 29/08/2019 21:40

Kew and Kew 159 are TK own brands now.

SagelyNodding · 29/08/2019 21:40

A beautiful Wit and Wisdom leather jacket for 40 quid, probably 15-18 years ago! The lining is red and silky. People have offered me money for it on a few occasions but I love it way too much to sell it!
Went in last time I was in the UK and was disappointed...

Writersblock2 · 29/08/2019 21:42

I once got a pair of Emu boots for about £20. Laura Mercier and Pixie makeup. A recent bargain was a pair of Kate Spade sunglasses for around £25.

moonfacebaby · 29/08/2019 21:42

Loads! Gorgeous Massimo Dutti pure wool trousers which fit me perfectly for £12.99! Also got two linen t-shirts for less than £8.

Beautiful Benetton wool cardigan for £7!

I’m good at finding random stuff and I like the quality - I’ve had fantastic make-up, brilliant bedding and kitchenware. I always manage to buy lovely presents for friends too.

TrueFriendsStabYouInTheFront · 29/08/2019 21:43

Laura Ashley bralets, sofa throws, new balance underwear for dh, designer jumpers always perfect Xmas pressies, all my crockery is from TK Maxx too. I loved picking out mix and match bits, looks v boho.

timshelthechoice · 29/08/2019 21:43
