I've just gone in hoping to find some decent things but it just resembled a jumble sale! Things out of their packets, in the wrong places etc. I know a few people who have bought great designer items so cheap from there but I can never find anything.

Aibu to ask what's the best thing you've bought from there?

A deep purple coat and the fabric is like, really thick velvet, but also not like velvet at all, if that makes sense. Almost like a cuddly toy. It's glorious. It was a birthday present to me from me Grin

Nat6999 · 29/08/2019 20:09

Kitchen stuff, beauty stuff, handbags, purses, sunglasses, tops for ds, trainers, Birkenstocks, bedding.

Jesaminecollins · 29/08/2019 20:09

Homesense has more stuff than TK Maxx and I have got myself some cushions, pictures,a desk and chair.

Daisy38 · 29/08/2019 20:09

Gorgeous brown suede ankle boots reduced to £7. Can’t remember their original TK Maxx price but they were too lovely (and cheap) to leave on the shelf.

ElizaPancakes · 29/08/2019 20:10

Korean beauty products and a kitchen knife.

I hate shopping for clothes in there.

theWarOnPeace · 29/08/2019 20:13

Got all of my kids Poivre Blanc ski suits a few years ago at approx £25 a piece - RRP was over £200 each! They were absolutely beautiful, I couldn’t believe they had all the sizes I needed. Not only solved my ski wear/expense dilemma, but they looked like fabulous little stylish French kids when they all wore them.

dollydaydream114 · 29/08/2019 20:13

An amazing faux-leopard coat for £20. Not designer but it’s incredibly soft and cosy and I get more compliments on it than any other coat I’ve ever owned. Also got some absolutely beautiful Miller Harris candles for £10 each (RRP £45 each).

merlotqueen · 29/08/2019 20:13

Lots! A pair of unusual Birkenstocks, Gola retro trainers, a cashmere roll neck jumper, a flower print coat that looks vintage, a designer smock type artists shirt/tunic, a blue leather satchel bag. All bought about ten years ago and all still worn.

The joy is in the RUMMAGE! The search for that elusive piece! That is the whole point of TK Max. You need a good few hours. Kids and work mean now I don't get the time.

I think it very much depends what branch you go to ..... I have two branches near my office, one of which has more known brands than the other ; I once got my beautiful Lulu Guinness red handbag in there at less than half price. There are two branches local to home and again one has carvella shoes, hunter wellies, fab toiletries etc - the other one is a jumble sale and I avoid it like the plague :/

Confrontayshunme · 29/08/2019 20:15

I got a pair of Chanel boots from probably 3-4 years earlier for £25. I have very weird narrow long feet, and I almost pissed myself when I realized they had been tried on loads but clearly I was the Cinderella who fit in them. I wore them on my first date with my husband and although they are white leather, they have held up over 10 years!

A lovely Miss Sixty navy military coat. I wore it until it fell apart. Still wish I had it. 😪

barryfromclareisfit · 29/08/2019 20:16

Big ad. Cheap.

surreygirl · 29/08/2019 20:16

Le Creuset, Orla Kiely bed linen, some great craft stuff and stationery, Christmas and Halloween decorations, luggage, a brilliant set of induction saucepans for about £30...rrp was £125.

Puma and Nike t-shirts for DS, Monsoon and Kew dresses for me. Lots of baby stuff years ago when I had DS and DD.

You do have to be patient and in the mood to root about. I often go in at 9.30 on a weekday post school run and it's really quiet then....never go with kids in tow!

redlily12 · 29/08/2019 20:17

a designer pair of sunglasses. I wanted to buy them brand new but couldn't ever justify the £240 price tag. I spotted a lone pair in TK Maxx which was exactly the design/colour I wanted for £30. Three years later, I still wear them constantly and love them.

360eyes · 29/08/2019 20:18

Oh and a red/orangey throw which is still on my sofa after about 8 years!

TarquinGyrfalcon · 29/08/2019 20:19

Lovely tan fossil handbag - I'd wanted that particular bag for ages and hadn't been able to justify buying it.
When I spotted it in TK Maxx I was thrilled

Crab bell

If you know, you know!

I bought a cream cashmere bed throw from a company called oyuna. It was £50 reduced from hundreds, I kept thinking the till person would query it and were going to say they had missed a 1 off the price. My cats never did quite understand why they were then banned from the bedroom. Sadly a clothes moth grub had a little nibble but still cosy and soft and I love it.

My other bargain was a shelf of floris bath essences on the reduced to clear display, boxes were very bashed about but at £3 each I wasn't complaining, I'm ashamed to say I cleared the lot.

Mablethorpe · 29/08/2019 20:22

A gorgeous Quba Sails ladies jumper which had somehow ended up in menswear and was reduced to £5. I love it!

Their Le Creuset is actually made for them only and you'll never see the same stuff in the Le Creuset stores or website.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 29/08/2019 20:22

Spanx tights, before I found Snag I wore Spanx all the time but they were difficult to find anywhere else. I also got a lovely Radley watch with a silver leather strap and tiny mother of pearl face for £11 in a clearance box, it was still in store in Radley for £75. DS gets his boxers and Hsppy Socks from there - he's a fan of jazzy colourful socks and pants.

sittingonacornflake · 29/08/2019 20:23

@Mablethorpe this explains why I can never find any bits to match my butter dish then! Shock

Excited101 · 29/08/2019 20:25

ALL HAIL

Steviestamborine · 29/08/2019 20:26

I get great socks, have an osprey purse and some fabulous bed linen.

Frouby · 29/08/2019 20:26

A pair of Joules country boots for £50, about 10 years ago, dd still wears them now as my legs are too fat for them these days.

I get all my kitchen knives from there, Prices candles, dh gets his boxer shorts and I used to get dds winter coats from the ski section. It's gone a bit downhill now though, I dont usually bother looking st clothes.

AnathemaPulsifer · 29/08/2019 20:28

A beautiful Jaeger silk dress worth £200+ for £29.99
