Lidl. Had the most amazing smoked tuna with wasabi paste. I bought lots. Then they just stopped. No explanation. No goodbyes. No weaning me off.

I asked in store. They don't know. I emailed Lidl. They said they'll ask the buyers. I don't know if they did cos they didn't tell me. But it didn't reappear on the shelves.

I have googled my head off and can not find smoked tuna anywhere.

Help!! Send smoked tuna!

Golden cup alternative anyone ? And powdered sorbet mix / think made by brown and poulson ?

popehilarious · 31/08/2019 09:22

@FreeButtonBee oh that's great about san Pellegrino. I had loads when I was pregnant until they sugar-taxed it, had to throw out cans of the vile stuff. Will re-stock!

Golden cup alternative anyone ?

This thread is doing bad things to me now. A lot of the things mentioned, I'd either forgotten about or thought I'd made my peace with the absence of them.

Golden Cup!

GOL(sob)DEN CUP!

Londonsuffolkmummy · 31/08/2019 11:53

Got2b so smooth products

MissCharleyP · 31/08/2019 12:54

Benefit Playstix - so handy when I CBA doing foundation properly. Didn’t rate the Hourglass one and a Make Up Forever one was too pale; maybe I’ll see if I can get a darker shade.

Also Ice Magic, everyone had this but not been around for years.

ChristmasFluff · 31/08/2019 13:04

Came on this thread to agree about Lush in every way - repeat offenders, and they stock nothing at all nice any more.

But Golden Cup!!!!!

Also marmite cheese.

Effiegee · 31/08/2019 14:05

First post - can’t resist.
On holiday in the US with two tubs of B&J Cherry Garcia and a Chunky Monkey stowed in the freezer. Why are there so few flavours available in the UK? Am tempted to take a picture of the huge B&J section at the local supermarket but it would be too weird and cause outrage to UK B&J fans!

Mousetolioness · 31/08/2019 14:20

I wonder if it is better to not have your favourite at all than have a modified offering.

I bought Lidl's version of Belgian Chocolate Sea Shells last week - feel sure they're different. They weren't the secret solo late night treat I remembered.

Thinner than fag paper chocolate coating made the whole bite into each chocolate a total non-event. No satisfying 'bite'.

Less of a generous 'enrobed' sensation - more like a quick spray coating on the moulds.

Payback for Brexit, maybe?

In the interests of fairness I feel obliged to buy another box and test them in cooler room conditions but I'm sure my eyes and memory weren't deceiving me.

I know in general, across all supermarket they're not in business for our benefit; it's all about the bottom line on profit.

Now I suppose I should just be thankful that, in a roundabout way, they're improving the line of my own bottom... and thus I will profit.

popehilarious · 31/08/2019 14:50

I'm never eating Ben & Jerry's again after I had a tub of cookie dough and the 'dough' was literally hardened chunks of dust.
I used to be a MASSIVE B&J fan and they have gone to absolute crap. Not just me either, if you read Ocado reviews.

@KetoWithIF ooooh will go in and look for coffee pods when DS goes back to school on Wednesday. I do like to have some in as I am just weaning myself back onto caffeine after not having for almost a year!

Karvol. My favourite smell and they don’t bother making it anymore 😩

Twinmama32 · 02/09/2019 22:46

Oh god you’ve reminded me, knorr discontinued fajita stir it up paste about 10years ago and I’m destroyed...I can still taste it in my memories it it’s not enough!
There’s even a fb group campaigning to bring it back Grin

TheKarateKitty · 02/09/2019 22:47

Looks like my favorite coffee creamer is being discontinued from the only store where I’ve been able to find that flavor.
It was marked for clearance the other day, so I bought a few bottles. Checked on the brand website and it’s listed out of stock at all local stores of that company. In stock for their competitors, who I hate. Mrrrr
At least I can still get it, but ☹️

changingoceantides · 02/09/2019 23:45

Aldi are buggers for this! A few years ago they used to do a bag of assorted toffees (by Dominion, I think). There was a treacle one and a mint one in them, amongst others, but those were the nicest. Went in one day and when I asked where they were nobody seemed to know. Worse still, nobody cared.

Oh god, I've just remembered something else - Galaxy Bites. Anyone remember those? Lovely little balls of a chocolate/caramel mix. Fuck off with your Galaxy Counters and Minstrels; they are NOT the same.

TheKarateKitty · 04/09/2019 17:23

It doesn’t stop! I went to the sweet shop last night and my favorite violet and rose chocolates weren’t there. I had noticed they were gone the last visit, but hoped they were just out of stock.

I asked the assistant, and she told me she wasn’t sure if it was seasonal or discontinued. However, I can’t find anything on the website at all. They had rose ones that are gone as well. Sweet floral ganache enrobed in dark chocolate, sprinkled over with violet (rose for rose) sugar crystals. The crystals were larger and had a satisfying crunch against the gentle snap of the chocolate.

How could they? Confused

@TheKarateKitty omg they sound amazing. Amazing!

PaddingtonBearHardStare · 04/09/2019 19:03

Did someone mention Thornton's Christmas chocolates on here or did I imagine it?! I saw some in Tesco at the weekend

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 04/09/2019 20:21

That reminds me, @PaddingtonBearHardStare - Thornton’s Chocolate toffee - not the chocolate coated ordinary toffee, the chocolate flavoured toffee. I loved that stuff so much (too much, some might say), and they haven’t done it for years.
