To think the responses to these TripAdvisor reviews are beyond rude!

None of the reviews are mine, I’ve never been to the place. A friend told me about the cafe owner’s responses to any negative reviews and I’m sat here open mouthed reading them. She alludes to reviewers having small penises, stalks their tripadvisor profile to read other reviews and slags off their photos, etc.

Like I said I’ve never been and won’t after reading these as I wouldn’t want to give my money to someone who sounds so —unhinged— nasty. Can’t believe someone who runs a business has so little idea about customer service.

Sounds like the owner is trying to be like the white moose cafe in Dublin.

The waitress wasn't being rude. Having to deal with you had drained her lifeblood.

How did you find this place, OP?

Not you trying to gather up some business ,is it?

If you read the q and a section she addresses the fact that bad reviews spike in the summer months and they are trolls, so she's just playing them at their own game.

I actually think that some of the replies are sort of witty (the sort of witty you get on here these days - OTT wit, wit for a reaction, wit for classics nomination)..... staged wit.

Not my bag but not unworthy a read.

Have a look at the 'This place made my girlfriend cry' response on 21 Oct 2016. I agree with fairy I think she's written the actual review herself just to give a witty reply Confused

also think she's you, OP 😱

She obviously fancies herself as a bit of a comedian, but it falls flat because she comes across as peevish and not particularly sharp-witted. I imagine she's a pain to deal with in real life.

I promise I’m nothing to do with it. I don’t think they’re that funny. I changed my name for this thread as I was actually worried if the owner got wind of it and searched my posting history they’d work out which town I lived in and what my job is which makes me very identifiable.

There’s some comments saying she’s tracked people’s personal emails down and sent them abusive emails and I was wanting to avoid that.

I think she's spot on with this one and I think I like her..;

After reading your other revues, my heart sank, when it reached my boot straps I started to feel a burning anger, this escalated to absolute rage and incredulity.
You document your budget travels to the Far East feverishly (and tediously)
It’s your bad reviews for the small businesses in these countries I take great exception too.
I have never EVER encountered such a towering sense of entitlement.
Your ludicrous, pampered, privilege western attitude to the culture of the countries you visit lack empathy or compassion. Expecting 5-star service from budget facilities designed for back packers is cretinous, to then slate them online is brattish and utterly vile.
A typical disrespectful farang.
“ WIFI slow” in Cambodia.
“Tour Guides English, just ok” in Vietnam.
“the river was hardly scenic, brown muddy waters, not great views” The Saigon river where a FULL refund was demanded from the poor beleaguered Boat man.
"Locals pay a tenth of what the tourists pay, discrimination MUCH !!" Phuket.
"Stray dogs and too many flies" Phuket.
You bring nothing but shame to genuine, generous respectful travellers to the land of smiles

Have messaged my friend who told me about it and asked if she’s actually been. She has and wrote a bad review and got a sarcastic reply. Hers is the review saying the coffee was good, but no tea cakes available and when she had a scone with cream and jam it came with the cream and jam already on the scone. Scone was overcooked.

Response was along the lines of “no pleasing this one”.

But her replies are really funny! Just goes to show there are two sides to every story - and how do we know who’s accurate? She has many more positive reviews than negative, though, so go figure...

The ones I’ve read (in response to terrible reviews) are pretty funny! Sounds on some like she’s a bit pissed writing them.
Would still be a bit scared going in there though!

Like I said I’m sure some customers are awful. But my friend isn’t a troll and knows an overcooked scone when she has one. Surely it would just be better to put a reply saying “sorry the scone wasn’t to your satisfaction” or similar? Maybe point out that a lot of people like the scones and you hope they will come back and try them again?

I think some times she is trying to make the point that people tend to not complain at the time/when asked how things are because they know they can go home and write a scathing review.

But it advertises that it caters for vegetarians or gluten free

I think it sounds so deranged I had difficulty following some of the rants

@PickwickThePlockingDodo No she hadn't, I looked at the reviewer's other reviews. Definitely a male

I think some people don’t have the confidence to say something at the time if the food is a bit ropey. So they put up and eat it but are annoyed or think they ought to warn others so leave a review when they get home. Doesn’t mean they enjoyed the food just because they didn’t complain.

She is probably going for the "soup nazi" effect. Probably works as well. I found her replies amusing and would check the place out if in the area.

I don't believe that the poor reviews are written by trolls, most of the users who have left a review have several reviews on their account.

I quite like to see that not every business out there has been sanitised and PR-ed?! Quirky venues and rude shopkeepers/restauranteurs are one of the fab curiosities of being outside big cities (with their endless samey chain restaurants)

Maybe she's not as rude in real life, and this is the only way she can vent frustration at rude customers?
